GTA 6 preorder and launch dates
Rockstar and Take-Two announced the following schedule for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions:

The $20 difference is for the Ultimate Edition Upgrade content, not a different game engine, platform or launch date. Standard owners can purchase the upgrade later after redeeming their game code, so choosing Standard does not permanently block the additional content.
What comes with the Standard Edition?
The Standard Edition is the base game package. On the US PlayStation Store it is listed at $79.99; your store may show a different currency or tax-inclusive total. It includes GTA VI, the Vintage Vice City Pack for an eligible preorder, and the one-month GTA+ offer where the digital promotion applies.
You can buy Standard digitally from a console storefront or as a physical code-in-box. The physical package is useful if you want a boxed purchase, a retailer pickup or a gift, but it does not provide a playable disc. After you redeem the printed code, the console downloads the game just as it would for a digital purchase.

These are the listed Ultimate entitlements; they are not separate downloadable copies of the game. A Standard buyer who later purchases the Ultimate Edition Upgrade receives the upgrade content without buying GTA VI again.
Preorder bonus: the Vintage Vice City Pack
The preorder bonus is the Vintage Vice City Pack. It contains:
- The ’55 Vapid Stanier Sedan and a Garage
- Outfits and hairstyles
- An exclusive weapon pattern
Rockstar says digital versions purchased before November 20, 2026 receive the pack. Physical preorders include a code for the pack, so keep every insert until the code has been redeemed successfully. The PlayStation Store promotion states that its offer ends November 19, 2026, which is the launch date; do not assume a purchase made after that cutoff will qualify merely because a retailer still displays preorder artwork.
Qualifying digital preorders also include one month of GTA+ at no extra cost. On PlayStation, the associated redemption deadline is March 31, 2027. GTA+ is a separate membership service, so check the account shown during checkout and redeem the trial on the account that will use it.
Does the physical GTA 6 copy contain a disc?
No. Rockstar’s official wording is: “The physical version of GTAVI will contain a download code that can be used for the digital download of the game. A disc will not be included in the box.”
Physical Standard Edition copies are expected to ship or become available for pickup from November 12, 2026. That timing is intended to let you redeem the code and start the seven-day pre-load before launch. You still need sufficient storage, an internet connection and a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S account that can redeem the code.

There is no physical Ultimate Edition. If you buy the physical Standard package and later want the Ultimate extras, redeem the game code first, then purchase the digital Ultimate Edition Upgrade from the relevant platform store. Rockstar identifies the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Rockstar Store and selected retailers or third-party storefronts as purchase channels where available. The safest choice is an official store or an established retailer that clearly identifies the platform, country or region, delivery date and code-in-box format.
Match the seller to your account region
Buy from the country or region tied to your platform account. Rockstar specifically recommends this to avoid activation problems. PlayStation download codes are grouped by region and may fail to activate on a mismatched account. Rockstar states that Xbox codes are not region-locked, but using a seller in your own market still reduces billing, support and language complications.
Check a marketplace listing before paying
- Confirm that the listing is for PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, not an older-generation product or an account transfer.
- Verify whether it is a digital code, a physical code-in-box or a retailer-managed download; do not infer the format from a product image.
- Check the seller name, return policy, delivery or pickup date and country of activation.
- Make sure the listing includes the Vintage Vice City Pack only if its terms still qualify for the preorder promotion.
- Avoid offers that require you to share your platform password or buy a preloaded account.

How to preorder and preload
Digital purchase on PS5
- Open the PlayStation Store on your PS5 or use the official web store while signed in to the account that will play the game.

Ultimate makes sense when the vehicles, weapon variants, styles, properties, shops, locations and Classic Car Collection are worth the additional $20 to you. It is digital-only, so select it during checkout if you do not want to manage a later upgrade transaction.
Choose physical Standard for a boxed gift or pickup
The box gives you a retailer transaction and a printed code, not resale of a disc or offline installation. Plan for a download and check your console storage before November 12.

The code says it cannot be redeemed

A listing claims to include a disc or physical Ultimate Edition
Those descriptions conflict with Rockstar’s stated format. The physical release is Standard code-in-box, and Ultimate is digital only. Request clarification or choose an official store instead.
