There are no official GTA 6 PC system requirements yet. Rockstar has announced Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, but it has not announced a PC edition or published CPU, GPU, RAM, storage, Windows, graphics-API, resolution or frame-rate requirements. Any detailed “GTA 6 requirements” table circulating online is therefore speculation, not a buying specification.
The announced November 19, 2026 launch date applies to the console release. If you are deciding whether to upgrade a computer now, use this guide to separate confirmed information from GTA V history, document your current hardware and avoid paying for a component merely because a seller calls it “GTA 6-ready.”

What Rockstar has actually announced
Rockstar’s current public information identifies two launch platforms: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The announced release date is November 19, 2026. That date is not a confirmed Windows release date, and Rockstar has not stated that a PC version will launch simultaneously.

Because those specifications are missing, no named processor, graphics card, memory amount or SSD capacity can honestly be described as required for GTA 6 on PC today.
Why online GTA 6 requirement tables are unreliable
A minimum or recommended specification only has meaning when the publisher ties it to a particular performance target. A “minimum” might mean 720p at 30 frames per second with reduced settings, while a “recommended” row could mean 1080p at 60 fps, 1440p at 60 fps or a different combination entirely. Without those targets, a list of parts is not a testable promise.
Rockstar has not published a GTA 6 PC benchmark, install-size figure, graphics API, ray-tracing requirement or upscaling recommendation. Articles that provide exact figures for those categories are making estimates or repeating one another. Treat them as forecasts at most, not as compatibility guidance.

The same caution applies to statements that a particular current GPU, CPU or gaming laptop is “GTA 6-ready.” No such certification exists. Hardware performance also depends on resolution, quality presets, driver support, background software and the final PC build, so a component name alone could never establish the result even after specifications are released.
GTA V Enhanced requirements: useful history, not a GTA 6 answer
Rockstar does publish PC requirements for GTA V Enhanced. They show how demanding an earlier, upgraded version of the series can be, but they are not a forecast or a minimum for GTA 6.

These figures describe GTA V Enhanced only. Rockstar notes that downloadable content and programming changes can alter requirements over time. They cannot certify that a computer meeting the table will run GTA 6, nor can they establish how much space GTA 6 will occupy.
What to record on your current PC before spending money
The most useful preparation is an inventory, not a speculative purchase. Record the complete model numbers rather than broad labels such as “Core i5” or “RTX graphics.” Different generations within the same family perform very differently.

- Processor: Note the exact CPU model and, if shown, its core and thread count.
- Graphics card: Record the exact GPU model and dedicated VRAM. Integrated graphics should be identified as integrated rather than treated as a separate card.
- System memory: Record the installed capacity and whether the modules operate in dual-channel mode.
- Operating system: Write down the Windows edition, version and build number.
- Storage: List the drive type, free space and the amount of space available on the intended game drive.
- Display target: Note your monitor’s resolution and refresh rate. A 1080p/60 Hz screen creates a different performance target from a 1440p/165 Hz or 4K display.
You can gather these details through Windows’ System information and Task Manager panels, the graphics driver control panel and your drive’s properties. Keep the list in a note so you can compare it line by line with Rockstar’s eventual specification.
Should you upgrade your PC now?
For GTA 6 specifically, postponing a dedicated upgrade is the financially safer decision. Buying a graphics card, processor, RAM kit or SSD on the promise that it will be sufficient assumes facts Rockstar has not published. Prices and product generations can also change before a PC edition is announced.
Upgrade now only when the purchase solves a current problem you can verify, such as a game you already own failing to meet its published requirements, insufficient storage for your existing library or a malfunctioning component. Choose parts for that present need, and regard any future GTA 6 capability as unknown rather than guaranteed.
Keeping Windows and graphics drivers current is sensible general maintenance for PC gaming. It does not establish GTA 6 compatibility, and a driver-update message should never be treated as proof that your hardware meets an unreleased game’s requirements.
How to prepare when a PC announcement arrives
When Rockstar announces a Windows version, use its official GTA 6 page and support materials as the authority. Copy the complete minimum and recommended rows before ordering components.
- Confirm the platform and release date. Make sure the announcement covers Windows and identify whether the date is simultaneous with consoles or later.
- Capture every requirement field. Save the CPU, GPU, VRAM, RAM, operating system, storage, graphics API and any required launcher or account software.
- Record the performance target attached to each row. Look for stated resolution, frame rate, quality preset and whether ray tracing or an upscaler is enabled.
- Compare your inventory line by line. Do not compare only the product family name. Check the exact model, VRAM, system memory configuration and free storage.
- Budget for headroom. If your goal is higher resolution, a higher refresh rate or ray-traced settings, the recommended row may not represent that target. Wait for Rockstar’s own explanation rather than assuming.
- Check storage after installation details are known. The required free space, download size and post-install footprint may differ, and updates can require temporary additional room.
What each component will determine once specifications exist
CPU
The processor requirement will indicate the minimum simulation and streaming capacity Rockstar expects. Compare the exact model, not just the number of cores or a marketing tier. A newer six-core chip and an older six-core chip are not interchangeable, and a CPU upgrade may require a new motherboard or memory.
GPU and VRAM
The graphics row will be the key evidence for rendering performance. Check the named GPU, dedicated VRAM and target resolution together. A card that satisfies a 1080p minimum is not automatically suitable for 1440p or 4K, and VRAM capacity can matter independently of the GPU’s general speed.

System RAM
Rockstar’s table will show whether the number is a minimum capacity or a recommended dual-channel configuration. Do not assume that adding unmatched modules is equivalent to a tested kit; confirm motherboard support and the resulting memory mode.
Storage
A published capacity will tell you how much free space the installation needs, but not necessarily how much room updates or temporary files require. Leave practical headroom on the game drive and check whether Rockstar specifies an SSD class or another storage feature.
Windows and graphics API
The operating-system build and graphics API determine software compatibility. A PC can have fast hardware and still fail to launch if its Windows version or supported API is outside the stated requirement. Update only after checking hardware and application compatibility.

Not necessarily. GTA V, GTA V Enhanced and GTA 6 are separate compatibility targets. A computer may run the older game while lacking the processor performance, graphics memory, storage speed or operating-system support eventually required by GTA 6. Conversely, a newer PC that exceeds GTA V Enhanced’s recommended row still cannot be confirmed compatible until Rockstar publishes GTA 6 specifications.
Use your GTA V result as a description of what your system runs today, not as a prediction. The only reliable comparison will be between your recorded hardware and Rockstar’s final minimum and recommended rows.

The currently confirmed route is a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S. A PC player who requires access on November 19, 2026 cannot rely on a computer upgrade or an unannounced Windows edition. Decide based on the officially announced console platforms, and reassess PC plans if Rockstar later provides a separate release schedule.
