Rockstar has not published Windows system requirements for Grand Theft Auto VI as of October 18, 2026. There is therefore no confirmed GTA 6 CPU, GPU, RAM, VRAM, storage, operating-system version, ray-tracing setting or frame-rate target. Rockstar’s announced November 19, 2026 release is for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, not PC.
You can still prepare intelligently. Rockstar’s official requirements for Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced provide a useful reference for storage, memory and the general generation of PC hardware, but they are not GTA VI requirements. Treat every specific GTA 6 PC specification circulating elsewhere as an estimate until Rockstar publishes a Windows table.

What Rockstar has officially confirmed
Rockstar’s support information says Grand Theft Auto VI can be pre-ordered for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The official product page gives the launch date as November 19, 2026 and lists those same console platforms. The Take-Two and Rockstar pre-order announcement also describes a console release only.
That leaves the PC version unannounced in the published platform information. Rockstar has not supplied a Windows release date, minimum specification, recommended specification or performance target. It has also not stated how much system memory, graphics memory or storage the eventual PC edition will use.

The physical console edition is scheduled to support pre-loading from November 12, 2026, and contains a download code rather than a game disc. Those details matter if you are deciding whether to play on a console at launch, but they do not substitute for PC hardware guidance.
Why online GTA 6 requirement lists are estimates
A credible system-requirements table needs a stated operating system, processor, graphics card, memory, storage and test target. Rockstar has published none of those for Windows. Consequently, a list naming a particular Intel or AMD processor, a GeForce or Radeon model, a VRAM amount, an SSD capacity or an expected frame rate is not an official GTA VI specification.
Even a technically plausible prediction can be wrong in several ways. A requirement may refer to 1080p at 30 frames per second while a reader assumes 1440p at 60. It may assume ray tracing is disabled, or it may describe a recommended configuration for a high preset rather than the minimum needed to start the game. Driver versions, shader compilation, texture quality and the way a port handles console-specific features can also change the practical result.
Until Rockstar publishes its own table, the accurate answer to “can my PC run GTA 6?” is that nobody can confirm it from official data. You can inventory your hardware now and use the eventual Rockstar figures when they arrive, but you should not label any current component as required.
The best official PC reference: Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced
Rockstar’s latest published PC specification is for Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced. It is a reference point only: GTA V Enhanced is a different game, with different assets, engine features and performance targets. The figures below are the values Rockstar published in 2025.

| Processor | Intel Core i7-4770 or AMD FX-9590 | Intel Core i5-9600K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 |
| System memory | 8GB RAM | 16GB dual-channel RAM |
| Graphics card | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1630 with 4GB VRAM or AMD Radeon RX 6400 with 4GB VRAM | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 with 8GB VRAM or AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT with 8GB VRAM |
| Storage | 105GB SSD | 105GB DirectStorage-compatible drive |
| Audio | DirectX 10-compatible audio | Windows Spatial Sound-compatible audio |
The table shows how much the requirements can differ between a minimum and a recommended target even within one Rockstar release. The minimum configuration has 8GB of memory and 4GB of VRAM, while the recommended configuration doubles both figures. Rockstar specifies 105GB of SSD space in either case, but its recommended entry adds DirectStorage compatibility.
Those numbers should not be copied into a GTA VI article as if they were confirmed. They are useful for identifying an older baseline and for planning storage, not for certifying that a particular PC will run the new game.

A cautious forecast points toward a Windows 11-era gaming PC, at least 16GB of system memory, a modern DirectX 12 graphics stack and SSD storage. That direction follows from the generation represented by GTA V Enhanced’s recommended hardware and from GTA VI’s first release on current-generation consoles. It is an editorial inference, not a Rockstar announcement.
It is reasonable to expect the eventual requirement table to distinguish between rasterized rendering and ray tracing, to identify a VRAM target and to specify a resolution and frame-rate objective. None of those details has been disclosed. A card that is comfortable at 1080p without ray tracing may not deliver the same result at 1440p with advanced lighting enabled, even if both systems meet a single nominal requirement.
Do not turn “modern” into a made-up model number. The eventual minimum could depend more heavily on CPU simulation performance, memory bandwidth, storage streaming or a particular graphics feature than on the name printed on a component. Until the official table exists, a precise “GTA 6 minimum GPU” or “GTA 6 recommended CPU” is speculation.

Check your current PC with DxDiag
Rockstar’s compatibility guidance recommends Microsoft’s DirectX Diagnostic Tool, usually called DxDiag. Recording the information now gives you a repeatable inventory to compare with Rockstar’s eventual requirements.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Press the Windows key, type DxDiag, and open the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. Allow it to finish collecting information; choose the option to check whether drivers are digitally signed if Windows presents that prompt.
- On the System tab, record the operating system and version, processor model and installed memory. The memory figure is your system RAM, not the graphics card’s VRAM.
- Open the Display tab. Record the GPU name, manufacturer, chip type, approximate total video memory, driver version and driver date.
- If the computer has more than one display adapter, inspect each Display tab. A laptop may show integrated and discrete graphics separately; the game’s performance will depend on which adapter is used.
- Save the report or write the values in a note with the date checked. Also record how much free space remains on the drive where you install games, because total drive capacity and available capacity are different.
This inventory cannot predict GTA VI performance before Rockstar supplies a target. It does prevent common mistakes, such as confusing 16GB of system RAM with 16GB of VRAM or assuming that a large hard drive is equivalent to an SSD.
Upgrade planning that is honest today
Prioritize capacity and SSD speed
Storage is the clearest preparation purchase because GTA V Enhanced already requires a 105GB SSD and recommends a DirectStorage-compatible drive. A 2TB NVMe SSD is a sensible capacity upgrade for a modern game library and leaves room for operating-system files, patches and other large titles. It is not a GTA VI requirement, and buying one does not guarantee a particular loading time or frame rate.
Before installing an NVMe drive, check whether your motherboard has an available M.2 slot, which PCI Express generation it supports and whether installing the drive disables a SATA port. A drive with adequate capacity and a manufacturer-supported firmware update is more useful than chasing a theoretical interface speed your system cannot use.
Do not buy a “GTA 6 GPU” yet
Rockstar has not identified a required graphics card. Buying a GPU solely because a prediction names it can leave you with the wrong balance of VRAM, CPU performance, power supply capacity or cooling. If you need a graphics upgrade for games you play now, compare cards using their actual resolution, quality preset and frame-rate results for those games; describe the purchase as a current gaming upgrade, not as a confirmed GTA VI requirement.

Check memory, processor and power together
Sixteen gigabytes of dual-channel RAM is Rockstar’s recommended figure for GTA V Enhanced, so it is a sensible modern-PC planning baseline, but it does not establish the amount GTA VI will need. Check whether your current memory is installed in matched modules and whether the motherboard supports an upgrade before replacing it.
CPU upgrades require the same care. A newer graphics card cannot compensate for a processor that cannot keep up with world simulation, traffic, animation and streaming. Verify socket compatibility, BIOS support, cooler capacity and power-supply headroom before choosing a processor. These checks are practical preparation, not evidence of a GTA VI minimum.

Can my PC run GTA 6?
There is no official way to answer that yet. Use DxDiag to record your operating system, CPU, RAM, GPU, VRAM and driver details, then compare them with the Windows table when Rockstar publishes it. Any answer based on a leaked or unattributed list should be treated as an estimate.
What GPU will GTA 6 need?
Rockstar has not announced a GPU model, VRAM amount or ray-tracing target. The RTX 3060 and RX 6600 XT are recommended for GTA V Enhanced, but that does not make either card a GTA VI recommendation. Resolution, graphics preset, ray tracing and target frame rate must be known before a meaningful comparison is possible.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsHow much RAM will GTA 6 need?
No GTA VI memory requirement has been published. GTA V Enhanced lists 8GB as minimum and 16GB dual-channel as recommended. Those figures are a useful reference for a current gaming PC, not a guarantee for the next game.

What is the GTA 6 SSD requirement?
No GTA VI storage figure has been announced. GTA V Enhanced requires 105GB on an SSD and recommends a DirectStorage-compatible drive. A 2TB NVMe SSD is reasonable preparation for a large library, but it should not be marketed as the game’s confirmed capacity.
Will GTA 6 run on an RTX 3060?
There is no official yes or no. The RTX 3060 with 8GB of VRAM appears in GTA V Enhanced’s recommended specification, but GTA VI may use different rendering features and targets. Wait for Rockstar to state the resolution, preset, frame rate and feature assumptions attached to its PC requirements.

| Item to compare | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Operating-system edition and build | A game may require a particular Windows version, update level or feature support. |
| CPU model and core expectations | Open-world simulation and background streaming can be limited by processor performance even when the GPU has headroom. |
| GPU and VRAM | VRAM capacity affects texture settings and asset streaming; the model alone does not describe every workload. |
| Resolution and frame rate | 1080p, 1440p and 4K impose different workloads, as do 30, 60 and higher frame-rate targets. |
| Ray tracing or other rendering features | Feature-enabled targets can be substantially different from raster-only targets. |
| System RAM | Memory available to the game and background applications can affect stability and streaming. |
| Storage type and free space | An SSD requirement concerns both capacity and sustained access behavior; patches may need additional temporary space. |
A requirement table is most useful when Rockstar identifies whether its minimum and recommended figures were measured at a stated preset and resolution. If a row says only “recommended,” it does not automatically mean 60 frames per second at 4K. Keep the target attached to the number when comparing your PC.
Playing at launch versus waiting for PC
The confirmed November 19, 2026 launch platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. If you want to play on release day, those are the officially announced options. A PC player who is willing to wait can avoid buying hardware based on guesses and make a better decision once Rockstar publishes a Windows release plan and specifications.
The absence of PC requirements is not evidence that a port will be unusually demanding, unusually light or unavailable forever. It simply means Rockstar has not made the relevant technical commitments public. Keep your current PC’s drivers and storage healthy, use DxDiag to document its configuration, and treat every exact GTA 6 number as provisional until it comes directly from Rockstar.
