There are no official GTA VI PC requirements yet. As of October 16, 2026, Rockstar has not listed a PC version, CPU, graphics card, memory requirement or storage target. Rockstar’s confirmed launch platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a November 19, 2026 release date. Any PC specification circulating before Rockstar publishes a PC store or support page is an estimate, not a requirement.
The short answer: GTA 6 does not have published PC requirements
Rockstar’s current support information says that Grand Theft Auto VI can be pre-ordered for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Its official game page gives those consoles a November 19, 2026 release date. Neither page lists a PC edition or PC system requirements.

That means nobody can currently answer “Can my PC run GTA 6?” with an official yes or no. A list naming a processor, graphics card, RAM capacity or SSD size may be a prediction based on console hardware, previous Rockstar releases or an alleged leak, but it is not a specification from Rockstar. Treat it as planning guidance only.

What Rockstar has confirmed
Launch platforms and date
Rockstar’s published information identifies PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as the launch platforms and states “Coming November 19, 2026.” It does not identify Windows, Steam, the Epic Games Store or another PC storefront as a launch platform.
A later PC release is possible, but it is not a confirmed product or date. Take-Two chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick has said the company generally launches on platforms with a meaningful audience and that PC is becoming increasingly important to the company. That is a statement about the company’s broad platform strategy, not an announcement of a GTA VI PC version.
The physical console package is not a PC disc
Rockstar says the physical edition is a console download-code package and that “A disc will not be included in the box.” It therefore cannot be used as a PC installation disc or as evidence of a PC storage requirement. Console packaging details should not be confused with a Windows release.
Why console specifications cannot be converted directly into PC requirements
PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are a useful development baseline, but they are not PC specifications. A console has a fixed CPU, GPU, memory pool, operating system and storage configuration. Developers can optimize one known hardware target and control settings that PC players may expose through resolution, texture quality, draw distance, shadows, ray tracing and frame-rate options.
A PC version must support many combinations of processor speed, graphics architecture, memory, drivers and background software. The same game may offer a lower preset for older systems and higher presets that increase draw distance or enable additional effects. A PC port may also add features such as ultrawide support, unlocked frame rates, advanced ray tracing or higher-resolution textures. None of those options is confirmed for GTA VI today.
For that reason, a console comparison can tell you that a future PC version is likely to be demanding, but it cannot produce a trustworthy model name, VRAM number or minimum CPU. The only official PC numbers available from Rockstar are for GTA V Enhanced.
Use GTA V Enhanced as a benchmark, not a GTA VI requirement
Rockstar’s 2025 PC requirements for GTA V Enhanced provide the clearest historical reference. They describe the hardware Rockstar considered acceptable for that edition, not the hardware GTA VI will require.

| GTA V Enhanced tier | Memory | Graphics hardware | Storage and other conditions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | 8GB RAM | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1630 with 4GB VRAM or AMD Radeon RX 6400 with 4GB VRAM | 105GB SSD |
| Recommended | 16GB dual-channel RAM | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 with 8GB VRAM or AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT with 8GB VRAM | 105GB DirectStorage-compatible drive |
Those figures answer a historical question: what GTA V Enhanced lists for its own PC edition. They do not establish that 8GB of RAM, a GTX 1630 or an RTX 3060 will run GTA VI. A newer game can require more CPU simulation, a larger world, more detailed assets or a different graphics feature set. Conversely, careful scaling and a well-optimized port could allow a wider range of hardware than speculation suggests.
Use the table as a lower-bound reference for your current PC and as a reminder that an SSD, rather than a hard drive, is already part of Rockstar’s modern PC baseline. Do not treat it as a shopping list for GTA VI.
How to make a responsible GTA 6 hardware estimate
1. Start with the confirmed console baseline
Begin with the fact that GTA VI is being developed for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. This indicates a current-generation open-world target, but it does not tell you the equivalent PC graphics card. Console and PC architectures differ, and console games often use dynamic resolution or a fixed performance mode to maintain their target.
The baseline is useful for setting expectations: a future PC port is unlikely to be designed around the very low-end hardware associated with older PC releases. It is not useful for claiming that a particular desktop GPU is equivalent to a console.
2. Choose a resolution and frame-rate goal
“Can it run?” is incomplete without a performance target. A system that produces 30 frames per second at 1080p is not equivalent to one that produces 60 frames per second at 1440p, and neither is equivalent to a 4K system with ray tracing.
- 1080p at 30 frames per second: the least demanding sensible PC target, but still an estimate until Rockstar publishes a minimum preset.
- 1080p at 60 frames per second: a higher-performance estimate that needs more graphics and CPU headroom than a 30-fps target.
- 1440p at 60 frames per second: a demanding estimate for a high-refresh monitor; the graphics card becomes more important than at 1080p.
- 4K at 60 frames per second: a very demanding estimate. It may require upscaling or reduced settings in a future PC port, but Rockstar has not confirmed which technologies or modes will be available.
Frame-rate targets also affect the processor. A high frame rate requires the CPU to prepare world simulation, traffic, pedestrians and draw calls more frequently. Resolution mainly increases GPU work, although a large open world can stress both components.
3. Budget for headroom rather than the predicted minimum
A minimum requirement is normally intended to start the game at a specified preset, not to guarantee a high refresh rate or maximum image quality. If you are upgrading for a game that has no published PC build, leave room for driver changes, patches, background applications, higher texture settings and future expansions.

- [Dont Hesite to Order] 24 hours customer services and professional technology team are standing by
As a planning estimate, 16GB of system RAM is a more sensible starting point than 8GB for a new gaming build, while 32GB is a prudent headroom target if you stream, create content or keep many applications open. These are estimates for planning, not GTA VI requirements.
For graphics memory, 8GB of VRAM is a reasonable estimate for a modern 1080p-oriented build, while 12GB or more gives greater headroom for 1440p textures and future PC features. That is not a Rockstar recommendation. A game can perform well with less VRAM at reduced texture settings, and a poorly optimized setting can exceed a card’s VRAM even when its raw processing power is sufficient.
4. Separate CPU simulation from GPU rendering
Open-world games continually simulate characters, vehicles, physics, streaming and world events. A processor with strong single-thread and multi-thread performance can matter even when the graphics card is powerful. For a future GTA VI build, a modern desktop CPU with several high-performance cores is a safer estimate than an older high-core-count chip with weak per-core performance.
Do not choose a processor solely because its model has more cores. The final PC requirements may identify a specific generation, instruction-set feature or performance class, and those details are unknown. If your current CPU already struggles with dense city scenes in current open-world games, a GPU upgrade alone may not deliver the frame rate you want.
5. Plan for SSD storage and installation growth
GTA V Enhanced lists 105GB of SSD storage. That figure is not a GTA VI estimate, but it demonstrates why a small system drive is risky for a large modern game. A future PC package could be smaller, similar or larger; there is no official number.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Leave free space beyond the eventual download size for installation staging, patches, shader caches and the operating system. An NVMe SSD can improve loading and asset streaming compared with a hard drive, but storage speed alone cannot compensate for an insufficient CPU or GPU.
6. Treat ray tracing and advanced features as optional estimates
Ray tracing can significantly change the GPU requirement, especially at 1440p or 4K. If a future PC version includes ray-traced reflections, shadows or global illumination, a card with hardware ray-tracing support and a larger VRAM buffer may be preferable. Rockstar has not confirmed which ray-tracing features GTA VI will offer on PC, so do not buy a card on the assumption that a particular effect will be mandatory.

Upscaling and frame-generation technologies could make higher resolutions more attainable, but their availability, image quality and latency vary by implementation. They should be treated as ways to extend a system’s range, not as substitutes for meeting an official native-rendering requirement.
Planning estimates by gaming target
The following table is a buying framework, not a leaked specification. Every memory, VRAM and performance figure in it is an estimate for planning a future PC build. Rockstar may publish different requirements.

| 1080p, 30 fps | Modern mid-range CPU; graphics card with an estimated 8GB VRAM; 16GB system RAM estimate; SSD with substantial free space | Lower or medium settings and a console-like frame-rate goal | Rockstar’s eventual minimum preset and scalability |
| 1080p, 60 fps | Modern performance CPU; stronger mid-range GPU with an estimated 8GB or more VRAM; 16GB to 32GB RAM estimate | Higher settings and steadier frame pacing | CPU load from world simulation and traffic density |
| 1440p, 60 fps | Fast modern CPU; high-performance GPU with an estimated 12GB or more VRAM; 32GB RAM as a headroom estimate | High settings, with possible use of upscaling | Texture size, ray tracing and the final renderer |
| 4K, 60 fps | Top-tier modern CPU and GPU; estimated 12GB–16GB VRAM; 32GB RAM estimate; fast, spacious SSD | High image quality, potentially with upscaling or selected effects reduced | Whether the PC version offers a well-optimized 4K mode and how ray tracing is implemented |
These profiles deliberately avoid naming a specific CPU or GPU as “the GTA VI card.” Until Rockstar publishes a PC build, a model-level prediction would create false precision. Compare any eventual official requirement against your chosen target, not just against the word “minimum.”
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can your current PC run GTA 6?
There is no official compatibility test yet. You can still make a useful inventory and identify obvious risks.
- Record the exact CPU model. Note its generation, core count and whether current open-world games show CPU-limited frame rates.
- Record the exact GPU model and VRAM. Do not rely on a family name alone; two cards with similar names can have different memory capacities and power limits.
- Check installed system RAM. 8GB is Rockstar’s published GTA V Enhanced minimum, while 16GB dual-channel is its published recommendation for that game. Those numbers are historical context, not GTA VI requirements.
- Check the game drive. Confirm that the drive is an SSD and that it has room for a large installation plus temporary update space.
- Check power, cooling and operating-system support. A new GPU may require a stronger power supply, additional connectors or better airflow. A future PC release may also require a current Windows version or graphics API.
If your computer barely meets GTA V Enhanced’s minimum, do not assume it will run GTA VI. If it comfortably exceeds the recommended GTA V Enhanced tier, that only means you have a stronger starting point; it still does not guarantee a frame rate or preset for an unannounced port.
Should you upgrade a GPU for GTA 6 now?
Upgrade now only if the purchase solves a current problem
An upgrade can make sense when your present card already fails to meet the requirements of the games you play, your monitor has moved to 1440p or 4K, or you need more VRAM for existing workloads. In that situation, choose hardware for current, measurable needs and regard GTA VI as a possible future benefit.
Wait if GTA VI is the only reason
Waiting is the safer decision when your current PC is adequate and the sole objective is GTA VI. Official requirements could arrive with a PC announcement, and new graphics-card generations, prices and driver support may change before then. Buying a component now based on a fan-made list can leave you with the wrong balance of CPU, GPU, memory and storage.
Best Value
Avoid a one-component upgrade based on an estimate
An expensive GPU will not fix a processor bottleneck, insufficient RAM or a hard drive that cannot stream assets efficiently. Conversely, adding RAM will not turn a weak graphics card into a 1440p system. Wait for the official target and then compare the whole platform: CPU, GPU, VRAM, system RAM, storage, power supply and cooling.
How to read the eventual official PC requirements
When Rockstar publishes a PC store page or support article, check the wording around each figure instead of looking only for a single “recommended” list.
- Minimum preset: Find the resolution, frame rate and graphics preset associated with the minimum hardware. If Rockstar does not state them, do not assume 60 fps.
- Recommended preset: Check whether it targets 1080p, 1440p or 4K, and whether ray tracing is enabled.
- VRAM: Confirm the memory capacity and whether it is a hard requirement or part of a graphics-card example.
- System RAM: Look for dual-channel wording and any requirement for faster memory.
- Storage: Check the required free space, SSD requirement and whether the number includes downloadable updates.
- CPU features: Note the processor generation, instruction-set requirements and whether the listed chip is minimum or recommended.
- Operating system and APIs: Verify Windows version, DirectX or other graphics API, and driver notes.
Compare those details with your actual hardware, then use independent benchmarks published after release to judge frame-rate behavior. A requirement list cannot predict every combination of settings, monitor refresh rate and background workload.

The most meaningful confirmation will be Rockstar’s official PC store listing or support article. Look for a page that identifies Windows as a platform and gives dated minimum and recommended specifications. Retailer pages, screenshots, social-media posts and community spreadsheets should remain unverified until Rockstar matches the information.
Also watch for separate information about the PC release date. A PC version could arrive after the console launch, and its hardware requirements might be published close to that release rather than with the console edition. Until then, the confirmed November 19, 2026 date applies to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, not to PC.
Bottom line for a GTA 6-ready PC
There is no official GTA VI PC requirement to buy against today. Use PS5 and Xbox Series X|S as a broad current-generation baseline, use GTA V Enhanced’s 8GB RAM, 4GB VRAM-class minimum and 105GB SSD requirement only as historical context, and label every forward-looking CPU, GPU, RAM, VRAM or storage figure as an estimate. For a new build, prioritize a balanced modern CPU and GPU, at least an estimated 16GB of RAM with extra headroom if your workload needs it, adequate VRAM for your chosen resolution, and a spacious SSD. If GTA VI is your only reason to upgrade, wait for Rockstar’s official PC announcement and requirements.
