What is officially confirmed about GTA 6 on each console?
Rockstar’s official Grand Theft Auto VI page lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The currently displayed release information places launch on November 19, 2026. That means the Xbox comparison is officially with the Series X family release; the material does not describe a separate Xbox Series X-only build.

Those limits matter because many console-versus-console articles infer a winner from trailers or hardware specifications. A trailer recorded on one platform can show how that capture was produced, but it cannot prove that the other version has a lower frame rate or reduced image quality.

The date is also a planning detail, not a guarantee that every territory will receive identical retail timing. - Use Rockstar’s PS5 label as a preference signal, not a benchmark.

Start with the people and account you will actually use. Choose PS5 if most of your GTA-playing friends are there, you prefer its controller, or you want to follow Rockstar’s stated platform preference. Choose Xbox Series X if your established Xbox library, achievements, subscriptions, or social group matter more.

Because cross-save and cross-progression are not confirmed, buying the game on one console may commit your online character or progress to that platform. Treat the edition as a platform-specific purchase until Rockstar says otherwise.
