Platforms and current release date
Rockstar’s official GTA VI site lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It gives November 19, 2026 as the launch date. That is the current published date, not proof that no later delay can occur; any change should be judged by a new primary announcement rather than by a social-media countdown or an anonymous account.

Official marketing identifies Leonida as the game’s setting and presents Vice City within that world. Jason and Lucia are the central protagonists shown in the official material. These are confirmed character and setting facts; they do not validate every additional name, location or storyline detail attached to unofficial posts.

Trailers and official marketing
Take-Two’s May 6, 2025 investor release records the release of Trailer 2. Rockstar’s August 6, 2026 extended-look post repeats the November 19 date and presents the company’s official marketing material. A clip that resembles a trailer, screenshot or frame from that material is not automatically authentic if it appears without an official publication trail.
Pre-orders and the physical edition
Rockstar Support says pre-orders are available for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The physical version includes a download code rather than establishing that the retail box contains a complete game disc. Before paying, check the product description for your country, platform and edition. Rockstar’s support information does not, by itself, provide a complete country-by-country retailer SKU list, final price chart or stock guarantee.
What “a GTA 6 leak” can mean
“Leak” is used for several different things online, and they do not have equal evidentiary value:

- Unauthorized in-development footage: material copied from a work-in-progress build before release.
- Datamine or file claim: an interpretation of files, strings or metadata said to come from a game build.
- Anonymous insider post: a person claims to know an internal schedule, feature or platform plan without showing verifiable primary evidence.
- Reposted or edited media: a clip or screenshot whose original source, date and context are missing.
- Officially released material: a trailer, screenshot or support statement published through Rockstar or Take-Two channels. This is not a leak.
An authentic-looking image can still be old, edited, taken from an in-development build or presented with a false caption. Authenticity of a piece of footage also would not prove that every claim made alongside it is true.

The major leak incidents and what they prove
The September 2022 breach
Reporting on the September 2022 incident described in-development footage spreading online. Copyright takedowns followed, and coverage distinguished the leaked build from the finished retail game. The incident demonstrates that unauthorized footage can come from a real development environment; it does not make every later map, feature list or release prediction credible. Work-in-progress assets can change or disappear before launch.
The later 2026 clips
A later wave of clips was reported in 2026. Axios stated that Rockstar had not officially confirmed that footage at the time of its report. Until Rockstar publishes a direct confirmation, describe those clips as unverified, even if they appear consistent with earlier material.
Rockstar’s response
PC Gamer quoted Rockstar Games saying: “This is not how we intended for you see the game after all this time.” The statement expresses the company’s position on unauthorized footage and the way it became public. It is not confirmation of every mechanic, character, map label or release claim circulating with the footage.

Is GTA 6 coming to PC?
The official sources reviewed list PS5 and Xbox Series X|S and do not announce a PC edition or PC launch date. That means the accurate answer is “not confirmed,” not “confirmed delayed” and not “canceled.” A reported PC window, alleged developer comment, storefront listing or insider timeline remains a claim until Rockstar or Take-Two publishes it.

When evaluating a PC post, check whether it cites a dated primary announcement, identifies an official platform listing and remains consistent with the latest Rockstar material. A file name, database entry or anonymous screenshot can be evidence of a rumor’s circulation, but it is not a release commitment.
How to verify a new GTA 6 claim
Use this sequence whenever a post says it has a new date, platform, trailer, map or gameplay detail:
- Start with Rockstar. Check the official GTA VI site, Rockstar Newswire and Rockstar Support pages. Look for a dated post or a current product listing, not a screenshot of one.
- Check Take-Two for corporate announcements. Investor releases are the appropriate place to verify company-level timing or a trailer announcement.
- Record the publication date. A newer official statement outranks an older report. If a post predates a correction or changed plan, do not quote it as current.
- Identify the source. Anonymous accounts, datamines, reposted videos and “insider” timelines are unverified until a primary source confirms them.
- Compare the material with official media. Check whether the scene, logo, interface and terminology are consistent with released trailers and screenshots. Similarity is a reason to investigate, not proof.
- Ask whether it is from an in-development build. A real development capture can contain temporary assets, debug elements or content that never ships.
- Look for Rockstar’s direct action or confirmation. A takedown can indicate that copyrighted material was posted without permission, but it does not validate every caption or claim attached to the file.
- Label the result precisely. Use “confirmed,” “reported,” “unverified” or “unknown.” Do not upgrade a rumor to fact merely because several accounts repeat it.
What not to do when you find a leak
Do not download alleged builds or executables
A file advertised as a GTA VI build can contain malware, credential stealers or a modified installer. The existence of a genuine 2022 breach does not make a later download safe. Do not disable security software to run an alleged leak.

Use the official store flow for your console and a reputable retailer. A page promising an early download, beta access or a discount can be a phishing site even when it uses familiar artwork. Never reuse a console password on a page reached from a leak post.

Do not send money or cryptocurrency to alleged leakers
Claims that a payment will unlock footage, a build or an invitation have no support in Rockstar’s published purchase information. Cryptocurrency transfers are especially difficult to reverse. Treat pressure to pay, secrecy demands and “limited access” timers as fraud warnings.
Do not repost copyrighted footage
Reuploading a clip can expose your account or site to copyright complaints and helps an unverified caption spread. If you need to discuss a report, link or refer to the original reputable coverage where permitted, describe what is known and avoid hosting the unauthorized file yourself.

For the confirmed console versions, begin with Rockstar’s support information and then use the official console storefront or a reputable retailer. Confirm all of the following before checkout:

Do not infer a final price, bonus content or a PC option from a leak listing. Those details require a product page or announcement that applies to your region and edition.

How to read leak screenshots, maps and feature lists
Separate observation from interpretation
“A frame shows a street sign” is an observation. “The complete map includes every location in this image” is an interpretation. Keep those statements separate, because a cropped frame cannot establish the size of the world or the final mission structure.
Check the build context
Debug overlays, placeholder art, missing textures and unfinished animation are signs that footage may be from development. They are not evidence that the same systems will appear unchanged in the retail version.
Require a primary confirmation for dates and platforms
Release windows and platform plans affect millions of customers and should come from Rockstar or Take-Two. Anonymous timelines can be useful for understanding what people are claiming, but they cannot establish a launch commitment.

Rockstar’s reviewed official material does not provide a confirmed PC launch date, a complete retailer SKU map for every country or a full specification of every feature visible in leaked footage. It also does not turn every circulating character, map label or mechanic into an announced part of the game. Those questions remain open until a primary source addresses them.
The most reliable way to follow the situation is to preserve the distinction between what Rockstar has published and what the internet is inferring. That distinction protects your money, your accounts and your devices while keeping the confirmed information—platforms, date, setting and protagonists—clear.
