What counts as reliable GTA 6 information?
It depends on what you are trying to establish. Official Rockstar material is the strongest evidence of what Rockstar has announced. A leak site may report a claim, but its reputation, screenshots, or number of reposts do not make the claim an official announcement.

Rockstar’s official GTA VI page collects official videos, downloadable media, Newswire posts, social-channel links, platform information, and current game details. Rockstar Support’s preorder guidance, last updated June 26, 2026, specifically points readers to the official game site, Newswire, and Rockstar Propaganda newsletter.
Use the source that can establish the claim
- For what Rockstar has announced: find the original item on a Rockstar-controlled page or channel.
- For a claim circulating on a leak site: describe it as unconfirmed unless an attributable official source supports the same specific claim.
- For whether a post is current: check its date and compare time-sensitive information with Rockstar’s current official page.
How to check a leak or repost
- Identify who published the original. A screenshot or copied post may omit the author, date, or context. Follow links back to Rockstar’s own page or channel where possible.
- Open the original item. Link to the official post or page rather than relying on an aggregator’s summary or an image of a post.
- Match the wording to the evidence. Check that the original supports the exact detail being repeated. If it does not, call the claim unconfirmed instead of treating an inference as a confirmation.
- Check the date and current details. Release dates, platforms, and preorder information can change; consult the current official page before relying on an older post.
- Distinguish an authorized reveal from leaked material. A public statement acknowledging a leak event does not certify every clip, screenshot, build description, or story circulating with it.
Official news and leak claims are not equivalent

For example, Game Informer reported on August 26, 2026 that Rockstar described leaked gameplay videos as “heartbreaking.” That reporting supports the narrow point that Rockstar publicly responded to a leak event. It does not authenticate every item later attached to the story or every separate claim posted by leak accounts.

What Rockstar’s policy says about leaked footage
Rockstar Games Customer Support’s policy on posting copyrighted Rockstar Games material, last updated January 10, 2025, says: “Any posting of in-game footage from leaked copies of the game prior to its official release date will be taken down, regardless of how the game was obtained.” That is a policy about posting footage, not proof that a particular clip is genuine.
The same policy welcomes some fan gameplay footage and says Rockstar may share clips, while reserving takedown rights and excluding leaked pre-release footage from permitted examples. So leaked footage should not be treated as authorized promotional material just because it appears online or is widely discussed.

Which GTA 6 details should you verify again?
As checked October 9, 2026, Rockstar’s official game page listed a November 19, 2026 release date and PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Those are the page’s listed details at that time, not a guarantee that they will remain unchanged. Check the current official page for the latest release, platform, and preorder information.
