The October clip was not the first leak-related public statement from Rockstar in 2026. On August 26, the company addressed earlier leaked gameplay videos. In a statement reproduced by The Verge, Rockstar said: “It would be an understatement to say that having videos of Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay leak in this way has been heartbreaking for our team, and this is obviously not how we intended for you to see the game after all this time.”

That statement concerned earlier leaks, not the video reported on October 8. It would therefore be inaccurate to say Rockstar had not commented on any GTA VI leaks during 2026.
Is the October footage authentic?
The available reporting does not independently authenticate the footage or establish that it comes from the final retail version of the game. Nor does it confirm that any apparent feature, scene, or story detail in the clip will be present at launch. Treat the video as unverified leak material rather than confirmed gameplay information.

Rockstar’s official Grand Theft Auto VI page is the source for confirmed game information: it lists a November 19, 2026 release date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and identifies Jason and Lucia in the story. Those official details do not verify the leaked clip.
