Rockstar Games published an official Grand Theft Auto VI launch-trailer page on October 15, 2026, giving players another sanctioned look at the year’s most anticipated game. The release remains scheduled for November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
What the new GTA 6 trailer confirms
The October 15 launch-trailer page is the latest formal video beat in Rockstar’s pre-release campaign. It follows the company’s earlier official trailer material, which introduces Jason and Lucia as partners whose plan collapses after an apparently easy score goes wrong.

Rockstar describes the pair as being pushed into “the darkest side of the sunniest place in America” while a criminal conspiracy spreads across the fictional state of Leonida. Vice City, USA, is the central setting identified in the trailer description. The story premise is that Jason and Lucia must rely on each other to survive after the failed job.
Rockstar says Trailer 2 was captured entirely in-game on PlayStation 5 and combines gameplay with cutscenes. That confirms the footage represents the game’s visual presentation, but it does not establish every feature, mission or gameplay system that will be available at launch. Plot details beyond the official descriptions remain unconfirmed.

When does GTA 6 come out?
Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026. Rockstar’s currently listed launch platforms are:
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X|S
Rockstar’s current platform information does not list a PC version or a Nintendo Switch 2 version. Those platforms should therefore not be treated as confirmed launch destinations.

Can you preorder GTA 6?
Rockstar lists both digital and physical purchase options. Digital preorders or purchases made before November 20, 2026 include the Vintage Vice City Pack and one month of GTA+. The offer is tied to the stated cutoff, so buyers should check the terms shown by their retailer and account region at checkout.
Regional redemption rules apply. Rockstar recommends buying from a retailer whose country matches the country associated with the platform account, reducing the risk of a code that cannot be redeemed.

Standard versus Ultimate Edition
There are two listed editions. The Standard Edition contains the game itself. The Ultimate Edition includes the game plus the GTAVI Ultimate Edition Upgrade and additional in-game content.
| Edition | What it includes | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition | The full game | Players who want the core GTA 6 experience without bonus items |
| Ultimate Edition | The full game, GTAVI Ultimate Edition Upgrade, and named bonus content such as the ’95 Grotti Cheetah, Hawk & Little Morgan Revolvers, Vice City Styles, Jason’s Safehouse Vehicles, plus other in-game locations and items | Players who want the additional digital in-game content |
The Ultimate bonuses are add-on game content; Rockstar’s listing does not describe them as separate story campaigns.

No. Rockstar says the physical box contains a download code and does not include a disc. Physical copies are expected to ship or become available for pickup from November 12, allowing customers to obtain the code ahead of launch and prepare for the digital download.
That means a “physical” purchase still requires an internet connection, sufficient storage and a platform account that can redeem the code. The box is packaging for the code rather than a disc-based installation.
When can GTA 6 be preloaded?
Digital preload begins at local midnight on November 12, 2026. The game officially unlocks on November 19, so preload gives digital buyers seven days to download the launch files before release day.
- Buy or preorder the digital edition for your PS5 or Xbox Series X|S account.
- Confirm that the account region matches the purchase region.
- At local midnight on November 12, check the game’s library or store page for the preload option.
- Start the download and leave enough console storage and time for installation and any required update.
- Launch on November 19, when the title becomes available.
What buyers should check before ordering
- Platform: Select the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S version that matches your console.
- Format: A physical box contains a download code, not a disc; digital purchases are tied to the platform account.
- Edition: Choose Standard for the game alone or Ultimate for the listed bonus content.
- Timing: November 12 is the preload and expected physical-availability date; November 19 is launch day.
- Region: Verify code-redeeming rules and buy from a retailer serving the same country as your platform account.
- Promotional cutoff: Digital purchases made before November 20, 2026 are listed as eligible for the Vintage Vice City Pack and one month of GTA+.
The takeaway for GTA 6 fans
The October 15 launch-trailer release adds another official look at Jason, Lucia, Vice City and the Leonida-wide criminal conspiracy while leaving many gameplay specifics for the finished product. The practical details are clearer: GTA 6 launches November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, digital preload starts at local midnight November 12, and the physical edition is a download-code package rather than a disc.
