Grand Theft Auto VI has two game editions: Standard and Ultimate. Standard is the base game. Ultimate includes the same game plus an Ultimate Edition Upgrade containing extra vehicles, weapons, character customisation and properties. In the United States, the PlayStation Store lists Standard at $79.99 and Ultimate at $99.99. A boxed Standard copy is a download code in a box, not a disc, and Rockstar does not offer a boxed Ultimate Edition. Standard owners can buy the digital upgrade later after redeeming their code.
The separate The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection is merchandise for collectors, not a third game edition or a bundle containing GTA VI.

What is in the Standard Edition?
Standard is the straightforward purchase: it gives you Grand Theft Auto VI, with no Ultimate bonus pack included. It is available as a normal digital purchase and as a physical package that contains a download code.
Digital Standard
A digital purchase is tied to the platform account and storefront where you buy it. The announced launch platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Take-Two’s June 24, 2026 announcement lists the US launch price as $79.99 and the release date as November 19, 2026; the US PlayStation Store also lists Standard at $79.99.
Physical Standard is code-in-a-box
Do not assume that a retail box means a game disc. Rockstar says the physical Standard package contains a code for a digital download and no disc. After redeeming that code, the game is downloaded from the relevant platform store. This format can still be useful as a gift or if you prefer a boxed purchase, but it does not provide an offline disc installation.

Ultimate contains the complete base game and the separately named Ultimate Edition Upgrade. Rockstar describes it as “An exclusive collection of items threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story.” The upgrade is bonus content layered onto the same game, not a different campaign or a second copy.

Ultimate bonus categories
- Vehicles: additional vehicles, including the ’67 Vapid Dominator Buggy listed on Rockstar’s editions page, plus safehouse vehicles.
- Weapons: extra weapons and weapon variants.
- Character style: additional character styles for the protagonists.
- Vehicle facilities: a vehicle build and access to mod shops.
- Personal locations: a salon and a clothing store.
- Tattoo location: a tattoo parlor.
- Illegal-goods content: an illegal goods location or compound. Rockstar’s pages use slightly different labels: the editions page calls it the “PTT Youngin$ Illegal Goods Store,” while the support page refers to the “PTT Youngin$ Compound.”
- Classic cars: the Classic Car Collection.
The exact wording differs between Rockstar’s product and support pages. For example, one page mentions the buggy while the support page specifies the buggy and garage. Those labels describe the same Ultimate bonus package; they should not be read as evidence of two separate upgrades.
Can you upgrade Standard to Ultimate later?
Yes. Rockstar says that a Standard owner can redeem the game code first and then purchase the digital Ultimate Edition Upgrade through PlayStation or Microsoft. You do not need to repurchase the base game.
- Redeem the Standard code on the platform account that will play GTA VI.
- Open the game’s store page on that same PlayStation or Xbox account.
- Look for the Ultimate Edition Upgrade rather than another full-game listing.
- Buy and download the add-on. The bonus items are then associated with the redeemed copy of GTA VI.
Rockstar’s support information does not state the upgrade’s price. Check the live platform listing before deciding whether buying Ultimate up front is cheaper than buying Standard and upgrading later. A later upgrade is also subject to the platform account and region used for the original code.

Rockstar’s support guidance is explicit that a physical Ultimate package is not available. If a retailer describes a “physical Ultimate” product, verify what is actually being sold; it may be a Standard code plus a separate digital upgrade or merchandise rather than a boxed Ultimate game.

Prices, launch date and preload timing
The announced US launch date is November 19, 2026. Take-Two’s announcement gives the US prices as $79.99 for Standard and $99.99 for Ultimate, and the US PlayStation Store listing shows the same amounts. These are US figures, not a guarantee for other countries. Local taxes, currency conversion, regional pricing and retailer policies can change the amount you pay.
Rockstar Support says digital preload begins at local midnight on November 12, 2026. The physical code-in-box version is expected to be available for shipping or pickup from November 12 so buyers can redeem the code and preload. Preload does not mean the game can be played early; the announced launch date remains November 19.
Check the live platform page close to launch for changes to preload timing, file size, release-hour rules or regional availability. The official PlayStation listing is here, while Take-Two’s announcement is available as a PDF.
What the preorder offer includes
Rockstar Support says digital preorders and digital purchases made before November 20, 2026 include two extras: the Vintage Vice City Pack and one month of GTA+. The offer is tied to the stated purchase window, so it should not be treated as a permanent feature of every copy.

Vintage Vice City Pack
The pack includes a ’55 Vapid Stanier Sedan and Garage, additional outfits and hairstyles, and an exclusive weapon pattern. These are separate from the Ultimate Edition Upgrade: a Standard digital preorder can receive the Vintage pack without becoming an Ultimate purchase.
One month of GTA+
The US PlayStation Store says the one-month membership offer auto-renews unless canceled. It also gives a redemption deadline of March 31, 2027. Platform terms can differ, and the offer may require redemption steps after purchase. Read the checkout and account instructions for your country, and cancel recurring billing if you do not want the membership to continue after the promotional month.
Take-Two’s June 24, 2026 announcement also describes the Vintage Vice City Pack and a free month of GTA+ with digital preorders. Rockstar’s pre-order details page and the platform’s current terms should control if the offer language changes.

Code activation depends on the platform account’s region. Rockstar says PlayStation codes are grouped by purchase regions. Xbox codes are not region-locked according to the cited support article, but retailer and account terms can still affect redemption, downloads or add-on access.

- Buy a PlayStation code from a retailer serving the country associated with your PlayStation account.
- For any boxed purchase, inspect the retailer’s region statement before opening the package.
- Redeem the code on the account that will own and play the game; avoid using a temporary or family account if you expect to move the entitlement later.
- Keep the receipt and code packaging until activation and download are complete.
If a code fails, stop repeated attempts and compare the code’s region with the account region. Contact the retailer or platform support with proof of purchase. Rockstar recommends buying from a retailer in the country associated with the platform account; its current platform guidance is the authoritative reference.
Is the Vice City Collection a game bundle?
No. The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection is a separate Rockstar collector’s box and merchandise range. It is not Standard, Ultimate, the Ultimate Edition Upgrade or a package that contains a game license.
Rockstar presents the collection on its official merchandise page, with additional context on the GTA VI site. Availability and regional pricing are handled separately from the PlayStation and Xbox game listings. If you buy the collection, confirm whether a game code is included in the specific product description; the collection itself should not be assumed to grant GTA VI.

- Confirm that the listing is for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S, the announced launch platforms.
- Check whether the product is digital or a physical code-in-a-box package.
- For a boxed copy, verify the code region against your platform account.
- Compare the current local price, not just the US reference prices of $79.99 and $99.99.
- If buying before November 20, 2026, read the storefront terms for the Vintage Vice City Pack and one-month GTA+ offer.
- Remember that GTA+ may auto-renew on the US PlayStation offer unless canceled.
- Do not treat the Vice City Collection as a game license or assume that a merchandise order includes GTA VI.
The practical difference in one sentence
Choose Standard for the base game at the lower listed US price, choose Ultimate if its vehicles, weapons, styles, locations and classic-car content are worth the premium to you, and choose a boxed copy only if you are comfortable redeeming a download code rather than inserting a disc.
