Those categories are part of the game’s official ESRB rating, but the rating does not say that any of them can be disabled. Until Rockstar publishes a settings guide or the released game exposes documented controls, treat every individual content toggle as unconfirmed.
What is officially confirmed about GTA VI
The available first-party information establishes the game’s rating, platforms and release timing, but it does not document a category-by-category safety menu.

That distinction matters because many game listings use the same rating language whether or not a title offers parental settings. A descriptor tells you what the rated product contains; it is not a promise that a menu switch exists.
Can you turn off nudity in GTA 6?
Not confirmed. Nudity is one of the ESRB’s listed descriptors, but no reviewed Rockstar or PlayStation page documents a GTA VI option named nudity filter, nudity censor, or anything equivalent. You should therefore expect nudity to be part of the mature presentation unless Rockstar announces a control or the final game shows one.

Do not infer a filter from the fact that a scene can sometimes be skipped, that a character can be dressed differently, or that a console account has an age restriction. Those are separate mechanisms. A skip prompt, outfit choice or account-level age gate would not prove that all nudity has been removed from gameplay, cutscenes or ambient world activity.
Is there a profanity or language filter?
Not documented for GTA VI. “Strong Language” appears in the ESRB description, yet no first-party source reviewed lists a profanity filter, subtitle censor, dialogue replacement setting or audio-muting option for offensive words.
Language controls can also work in different ways. A complete filter might replace subtitles, mute spoken words, reduce dialogue volume, or merely hide text in user-generated or online areas. None of those behaviors has been confirmed for GTA VI, so do not tell a child that turning on subtitles, lowering dialogue volume or restricting chat will remove the game’s scripted language.

There is no confirmed GTA VI switch for this. The ESRB lists “Strong Sexual Content,” but the rating summary does not describe a setting that removes sexual scenes, camera shots, dialogue, animations or ambient encounters.

Even if a future build includes an option, its scope would need to be checked. A control could apply only to explicit scenes, only to visual effects, or only to optional activities. Until Rockstar states otherwise, assume that the rated story and open-world content remain intact.
Can you switch off violence, blood or gore?
No GTA VI violence or gore filter has been published. The ESRB identifies both “Intense Violence” and “Blood and Gore.” Those labels confirm the presence and intensity of the content in the rated product; they do not confirm a low-violence mode, blood reduction, dismemberment toggle, or censored cutscene option.
Do not confuse ordinary display settings with a violence filter. Brightness, contrast, camera, motion or display options can change how the game looks, but they do not necessarily remove violent events or blood effects.

Drugs and alcohol
“Use of Drugs and Alcohol” is an official ESRB descriptor. No reviewed first-party page identifies a control that removes those references, changes them to non-alcoholic alternatives, or blocks related missions and dialogue.

Mature humor
“Mature Humor” is also listed, with no documented humor, dialogue or story-content filter. A profanity control, if one is ever added, would not automatically remove mature jokes, themes or situations.
Why the ESRB rating does not answer the settings question
The ESRB evaluates and labels the content present in a product. Its M for Mature 17+ classification and descriptors are useful for deciding whether the game is appropriate for a player, but they are not a technical specification for optional settings.
For example, the listing can accurately say that a game contains nudity while a hypothetical future build offers a limited censor. Conversely, a game can carry a mature descriptor with no way to remove it. The only reliable evidence for a GTA VI filter would be a Rockstar settings guide, an official support article, or a clearly documented control in the released game.
What Rockstar’s existing settings guidance does—and does not—tell us
Rockstar’s published support guidance for GTAV says that settings can be changed from the Pause Menu in Story Mode or Online: open the Pause Menu, choose Settings, then select options such as controls, audio, camera and display.

That is a useful precedent for where ordinary game settings may appear, but it is not a GTA VI feature announcement. The GTAV article does not establish that GTA VI will use the same menu, expose the same categories, or add content controls. Treating the older instructions as proof of a GTA VI nudity, language or gore filter would overstate the evidence.
What parents can do before launch
GTA VI cannot currently be made “safe for younger players” through a documented in-game content menu. Parents deciding whether to allow access should use the official rating and descriptors as the baseline, rather than waiting for a filter that has not been announced.
- Check the rating for the exact product. The ESRB listing is M for Mature 17+ and names all seven mature-content categories, plus in-game purchases.
- Set expectations with the player. Explain that the rating describes the complete game and that no category-by-category GTA VI switch is currently confirmed.
- Use the console’s family and account controls. PlayStation and Xbox provide account-level tools that can restrict age-rated games, purchases and online interactions, but the available controls and labels vary by console software, account type and region. Verify the current options on the console itself.
- Control access rather than assuming censorship. If the player must not encounter sexual content, strong language, violence or drug and alcohol depictions, do not rely on a presumed filter. Restrict the account or do not permit access until the final settings are known.
- Review the final game information at launch. Rockstar may publish a new support page or update the game before November 19, 2026. Check the release notes and the in-game settings on the specific platform and account being used.
How to verify content controls after release
If Rockstar documents filters, check their coverage rather than accepting a menu label at face value. Use this verification sequence:
- Open the game’s own settings or accessibility menus and record the exact option name.
- Read its description to see whether it affects story scenes, gameplay effects, ambient encounters, subtitles, spoken audio, online content or only user-generated material.
- Test whether the setting applies globally or only to a selected save, mode or profile.
- Check whether another player can change it, whether it is protected by a PIN, and whether it synchronizes across consoles.
- Confirm what happens after a restart, a profile change and an update.
These checks distinguish a genuine content filter from a narrower control such as subtitle settings, chat moderation, a scene-skip prompt or a general audio slider.

Comparison framework for any future GTA VI settings announcement
When official details arrive, the useful questions are about scope and enforcement, not simply whether a toggle exists.

Rockstar lists GTA VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a scheduled release of November 19, 2026. The PlayStation product page lists a $79.99 Standard Edition and a $99.99 Ultimate Edition, along with optional in-game purchases, offline play, one-player support and PS5/PS5 Pro Enhanced support. Those prices and store terms are time-sensitive and may differ by marketplace, physical versus digital format, region or later updates.
None of those edition or platform details implies a different content policy. A more expensive edition is not documented as having stronger parental controls, and offline play does not mean mature scenes are removed. Content settings, if offered, would need to be confirmed for each platform and edition.
