The interview does not say that every mission requires money or explain how much players will need.
What did the GTA 6 developer say?
Nelson made the remark while discussing how the game’s activities connect with the story of protagonists Jason and Lucia. In the interview, he said players would sometimes have to go out into the world and make money, and that doing so could be necessary to advance mission flow.

He also described a broader design in which the world responds to the player as the player acts on it: “The world will act upon you as well as you acting upon the world.” In this context, earning money is presented as one part of the characters’ circumstances and the open-world story, not as a published description of a complete economy.

What might players do to earn money?
The examples Nelson gave were boosting cars and selling them, and robbing places. Later in the conversation, the transcript also refers to car fences, robberies and items that can be sold. These are examples of activities tied to making money; the interview does not rank them by payout, difficulty or efficiency.

Does every GTA 6 mission require money?
No such claim appears in the interview. Nelson said there would be times when making money is needed to advance mission flow, but did not say every mission has a cash requirement or that players must grind constantly. The transcript gives no prices, earnings rates, required balances or detailed rules for how money affects missions.

The statement appears in a full-interview transcript republished by Game Up News in its Tablet Gaming category on October 7, 2026. The page says IGN visited Rockstar North in July 2026, with interview highlights published in August. It presents the discussion as an interview in which Nelson played a build; it is not an official Rockstar publication or the original IGN page. The comments are therefore developer statements about the game as discussed in that interview/demo, not independent verification of the final released game.
