On PS5, PlayStation has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI uses Tempest 3D AudioTech for positioning sounds across Leonida. The final game’s audio menu has not been documented in the official sources reviewed as of October 7, 2026, so specific GTA 6 headphone modes, surround toggles, dialogue sliders, and mix presets remain unconfirmed. You can still adjust some headphone features in PS5 system settings, but those are console controls—not verified GTA 6 options.
Does GTA 6 support 3D audio on PS5?
Yes. In its June 24, 2026 PlayStation article about GTA VI on PS5, PlayStation says the game uses Tempest 3D AudioTech for audio positioning in Leonida’s soundscapes. That confirms PlayStation’s promoted spatial-audio experience on PS5; it does not establish which in-game settings will be available or how the feature will behave with every headset or speaker setup. Which GTA 6 audio settings are confirmed?
The official materials reviewed do not list GTA VI’s final in-game audio or accessibility menu. There is no confirmed GTA 6 setting here for headphone output, a surround toggle, dialogue volume, music and effects balance, dynamic range, or a specific audio mix preset. PlayStation’s PS5 listing identifies the platform, but it does not provide a detailed audio-settings list. GTA VI on the PlayStation Store

How to adjust PS5 headphone settings for GTA 6
PS5 offers headphone volume and, for supported PlayStation headsets, equalizer controls. These settings affect the console’s audio output rather than adding a GTA 6-specific mix. Sony documents the controls and supported headset considerations in its PS5 audio settings guide.
Set a comfortable headphone volume
Adjust headphone volume in the PS5 sound settings before playing. There is no GTA VI-specific recommended level established in the available official material, so choose a level that is clear and comfortable for your listening environment.

Try EQ presets only if your headset supports them
For supported PlayStation headsets, Sony lists Standard, Bass Boost, Shooter, and customizable EQ modes. Compare a preset with Standard using your own listening preferences. Sony describes Shooter as emphasizing shooting and footsteps; it is not a confirmed dialogue-clarity preset for GTA 6. A new headset is not established as necessary, but check compatibility with the headset manufacturer.
How to make GTA 6 dialogue louder on PS5 headphones
If voices are difficult to distinguish through headphones, try the PS5’s system-level Audio Focus feature. Its Boost Voices preset amplifies character voices and other middle-frequency sounds. Audio Focus is a console adjustment, not a confirmed GTA 6 dialogue slider, and it may not improve every headset or listening setup.

- Listen to the game and compare the result with Audio Focus off; keep whichever sounds clearer without making other audio uncomfortable.
Sony says Audio Focus supports USB- or analog-connected headphones. It does not support audio sent over HDMI to a TV, AV receiver, or soundbar. See Sony’s Audio Focus announcement for the feature’s presets and connection limits.
Should you use mono audio or surround sound?
These options serve different needs. Tempest 3D AudioTech is PlayStation’s confirmed spatial-audio feature for GTA VI on PS5. Mono Audio for Headphones is a PS5 accessibility option that sends the same audio to both sides; because it reduces left-right separation, it is useful when stereo separation makes one side harder to hear, not as a surround-sound setting.

To enable mono output, go to Settings > Sound > Audio Output > Headphones and turn on Mono Audio for Headphones. Sony documents this and other PS5 accessibility options in its PS5 accessibility settings guide.
PlayStation’s Tempest announcement does not confirm a GTA VI surround toggle, speaker-layout selector, or recommended headset. Do not assume that a particular product or speaker configuration is required for the advertised positioning.

What to check in GTA 6’s menus after launch
When the final game is available, inspect its Audio and Accessibility menus rather than relying on rumored settings. If the game offers separate controls, these are the useful distinctions to look for:
- Dialogue, music, and effects: Separate sliders let you change their relative balance; do not assume they exist until confirmed in the game.
- Output or spatial options: Check whether the game offers selectable headphone, stereo, or surround modes, and follow the game’s descriptions for your actual setup.
- Captions and subtitles: Check whether speech subtitles and non-speech sound captions are available and adjustable.
These are practical checks, not claims about GTA VI’s final menu. Microsoft’s Xbox accessibility guidance recommends independently adjustable audio categories and spatial-audio options, and separately recommends text equivalents for speech and important sounds. Those are design guidelines for developers—not evidence that GTA VI implements any particular control or caption feature. Xbox Accessibility Guideline 105: Audio accessibility · Xbox Accessibility Guideline 104: Subtitles and captions
On PS5, the PlayStation Store game hub can show accessibility-feature information when available; the tags and details depend on the title. They are not a substitute for checking the game’s actual menus. PlayStation’s PS5 accessibility guide
