There is no universal GTA 5 jetpack key map. Each script defines its own controls, activation key, menu, and configuration method. Aerowing uses an F3 menu with fully rebindable actions; VehicleJetpackV uses the plus key to enable the jet and stores keyboard or gamepad changes in a configuration file. Other jetpack scripts generate an INI file after their first launch.
Before changing a key, identify the exact mod and whether you are running GTA V Legacy or Enhanced. Then use the mod’s documented menu or configuration file, back up the file, and test activation, ascent, descent, steering, and landing separately in Story Mode.

Why GTA 5 jetpack controls differ by mod
Jetpacks in GTA V are script features rather than a single built-in vehicle control scheme. The script author decides how the jetpack is activated, which keys control movement, whether flight is camera-relative, and where bindings are stored. A key that activates one script can do nothing in another, or can trigger a different trainer, vehicle, or gameplay mod.
That is why an answer such as “press F to fly” is only correct for a particular release. In Aerowing, F takes off or lands, but in another script the plus key enables the jet. Read the control list for the exact package installed in your game before editing anything.

The table describes the control schemes documented by those listings. It is not a universal GTA V standard, and a later release of a script can change its defaults.
Aerowing controls explained
Opening the menu and enabling the jetpack
Press F3 to open Aerowing’s in-game menu. The documented workflow is to enable the jetpack from that menu and then fly. The F key handles takeoff and landing after the jetpack is enabled. If F3 does not open the menu, verify that the Aerowing files, Script Hook components, and game edition match before trying alternative keys.
Flight and vertical movement
- W, A, S, D: camera-relative flight. The direction of movement follows the camera orientation rather than a fixed world axis.
- Space: move upward.
- Ctrl: move downward.
- Q: brake.
- Double-tap W: enter fast flight.
- Double-tap S: return to hover.
Because Aerowing uses camera-relative movement, check the camera direction when a tap on W or S appears to produce an unexpected horizontal path. The documented double-tap actions are distinct from holding the key for ordinary movement.
Wings, weapons, and utility actions
H deploys or retracts the wings. Aerowing also exposes separate controls for weapons, detaching, and guard or turret functions. The listing does not establish one universal default key for every one of those secondary actions; use the labels shown in the F3 menu. This is also where you can change them.
Rebinding Aerowing in the F3 menu
- Start the game in Story Mode with the Aerowing files installed.
- Press F3 to open the Aerowing menu.
- Enable the jetpack so the script is active.
- Open the control or key-binding section and select one action, such as activation, ascent, or brake.
- Press the new key or button when the menu requests it, then save or confirm the change using the menu’s displayed command.
- Repeat for one action at a time. Rebind the menu key only after you have confirmed the new flight controls.
- Close the menu and test takeoff, landing, steering, vertical movement, braking, and any secondary action you changed.
The source listing states that all controls are rebindable in the F3 menu. It does not document a separate external editor for Aerowing, so do not assume that an INI edit is required for this mod.

VehicleJetpackV controls explained
Default keyboard scheme
VehicleJetpackV uses a different arrangement from Aerowing. The plus key enables the jet, WASD moves the jetpack, Space ascends, and Shift descends. The listing specifically says that keyboard and gamepad mappings can be changed in the configuration file.
On keyboards where the plus symbol requires a modifier, use the physical key combination that produces the plus input on your layout. If the script does not react, check the configuration file’s recorded key name rather than assuming that every layout reports the same symbol.

- Locate the VehicleJetpackV installation folder and identify its configuration file.
- Make a backup copy before editing. Keep the original filename and extension so you can restore it quickly.
- Open the configuration file in a plain-text editor.
- Find the entries for activation, movement, ascent, descent, and any controller mappings provided by that release.
- Change only the value for the action you want to rebind. Preserve the file’s punctuation, section names, and key-name format.
- Save the file, launch GTA V in Story Mode, and test the changed action before editing another entry.
The VehicleJetpackV listing does not specify a universal filename, key-code syntax, or menu for editing. Use the labels and format in the file installed with your version instead of copying values from a different jetpack script.
When a jetpack script generates its own INI file
A separate GTA-Modding listing documents a script that writes a self-generated INI file after its first run. Its hotkeys can then be changed in that file. If you cannot find an INI immediately after installation, the absence may be normal for that package.
- Install the script according to its included instructions.
- Launch the game once and allow the script to load in Story Mode.
- Exit the game normally. Check the script’s folder for the newly created INI file.
- Copy the INI to a backup location before making changes.
- Edit only the hotkey entries you need, leaving comments, section headers, and unrelated settings intact.
- Save, relaunch, and test each changed function separately.
The listing confirms the self-generation and editable hotkeys, but it does not establish the script’s exact default controls or its compatibility with every GTA V edition. Treat those details as package-specific.

How to choose safe replacement keys
Resolve conflicts systematically
A conflict occurs when two scripts listen for the same key or when a key already performs an important game action. Symptoms include a menu opening while the jetpack activates, a trainer appearing during flight, or one action cancelling another.

- Write down the current jetpack activation, menu, movement, and utility keys.
- List keys used by your trainers, vehicle scripts, camera tools, and other gameplay mods.
- Choose an unused key for the least frequently used action first.
- Move the mod’s menu key before changing flight controls if the menu itself conflicts.
- Change one binding, restart the game, and test it before changing the next binding.
Keep paired actions easy to remember. For example, place ascent and descent on nearby keys only if those keys are not already claimed by another script. Avoid assigning the same key to activation and landing unless the mod explicitly treats them as one toggle.
Keyboard and controller considerations
VehicleJetpackV documents both keyboard and gamepad remapping through its configuration file. Aerowing documents rebindable controls in its F3 menu, but the listing does not separately specify controller support. Do not infer controller compatibility from the existence of keyboard bindings; confirm that the menu exposes the button type you intend to use.
Legacy versus Enhanced: check the edition first

A clean installation and rebinding workflow
- Identify the package. Record the exact mod name and version shown in its folder or download documentation. Do not mix Aerowing instructions with VehicleJetpackV settings.
- Identify the game edition. Confirm Legacy or Enhanced in the launcher and compare it with the mod’s compatibility statement.

Troubleshooting common rebinding problems
The menu key does nothing
- Confirm that you installed the script for the correct GTA V edition.

Some scripts create their INI only after the first successful launch. Start the game once, enter Story Mode, exit, and check the script’s own folder. If no file appears, confirm that the script actually loaded and consult the package’s installation documentation; do not create a guessed file with invented section names.
Changes revert after restarting
Make sure the editor saved the file with its original extension and location. Verify that the file is not read-only and that you edited the active installation rather than a duplicate download folder. Preserve the syntax used by the file; deleting a section header or changing punctuation can cause the script to ignore the entry.
The game becomes unstable after installation
Remove the changed configuration and restore the backup. If the problem remains, temporarily remove the jetpack script and verify that the base game and Script Hook load correctly. Recheck Legacy versus Enhanced compatibility and the required dependency versions before reinstalling.
