The modification adds a cinematic launch, Iron Man-style flight, a speedometer and selectable weapons, but getting it running was unstable and it appeared to conflict with another installed mod.
The comparison is deliberately personal: San Andreas is treated as the benchmark, the writer’s favourite GTA and a defining PlayStation 2-era game. In that game, the jetpack is hidden at Verdant Meadows Airstrip and is remembered for its immediate, uncomplicated fun. The new GTA V modification attempts to recreate that appeal with a considerably more elaborate presentation.

What the GTA 5 jetpack mod adds
Instead of simply pressing a button and rising, the modification gives the character a launch animation and an airborne pose compared with Iron Man. Once in the air, the player can fly through the game world while watching a speedometer. That extra feedback makes the device feel like a complete vehicle system rather than a small movement alteration.

Three reported weapon choices
The mod also presents three weapon options while flying: SMG, plasma and “tube.” The report does not establish what the tube weapon is; the writer questions whether it may simply be another SMG. Treat the names as the choices observed in that installation, not as a complete technical specification.

Why launch crashes can happen
The source records repeated crashes during launch attempts, followed by a successful start. It does not identify a single cause or provide a confirmed fix. Possible causes in any modded installation include an unsupported game update, an incompatible loader, missing dependencies or two scripts changing the same systems, but those are troubleshooting categories—not diagnoses of this particular setup.

- Remove the newest addition and test again rather than changing several files at once.
- Read the mod’s compatibility notes for the exact GTA V build and required dependencies.
- Check whether another script is activating unexpectedly, as happened with the street-golfing mod in the report.
- Restore the backed-up original files if the game will not launch, then rebuild the mod list gradually.
Is it really better than San Andreas?
That depends on what “better” means. The GTA V version is more theatrical and information-rich: it launches with an animation, supplies a speedometer and offers three reported weapon selections. San Andreas remains the simpler reference point and the emotional reason for the experiment. The mod therefore makes GTA V resemble the older game in spirit while adding modern spectacle, rather than replacing the original experience outright.

Because this evidence comes from one player’s session, it cannot establish that the mod is stable for every PC or that it works safely alongside every other modification. Its strongest conclusion is narrower: a jetpack can reproduce enough of the San Andreas fantasy to change how GTA V feels, provided the installation survives the compatibility problems.
