Which GreenPan Bistro model is this review about?
“Bistro XXL” is not enough to identify every specification or care rule. GreenPan’s Australian listing calls its unit the “Bistro XXL Air Fryer – Black”; its Italian listing calls a 7.2 L unit the “Friggitrice ad aria Bistro XXL.” Both identify 7.2 L capacity, but their listed dimensions differ substantially. The US “Bistro 7-Quart 360° Clear View Air Fryer” is a separate model presentation with a visible lid and different capacity units and specifications.

Specifications vary by market listing
GreenPan Italy’s 7.2 L Bistro XXL listing specifies 1650 W, LED touchscreen controls, preset programs and a PFAS-free nonstick-coated basket. It gives dimensions of 26 × 32 × 25 cm, which differ markedly from the Australian listing’s measurements. The pages do not explain the discrepancy; check the exact model label and the dimensions shown for the country-specific SKU before buying or allocating counter space.

GreenPan’s Australian page describes its coating as PFAS-free. That is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independent finding in the available product evidence. GreenPan CEO Jacob Maurer is quoted on the same page saying, “We were the first to create cookware using a PFAS-Free coating.” This should likewise be understood as a company claim, not independently verified comparative evidence.

Homes & Gardens reviewer Tobey Grumet Segal published a review on 20 May 2026 after using the US Bistro 7-Quart 360° Clear View Air Fryer for two weeks. The following observations belong to that Clear View model only; they do not establish cooking performance for the regional 7.2 L XXL.

Frozen fries
The reviewer cooked fries using the 400°F preset for 20 minutes and shook them when prompted. A modest batch came out evenly crisped and golden. A full bag fit but needed five additional minutes. The reviewer could see food through the window, but found it was not clear enough to judge doneness at a glance.
Chicken and salmon
For chicken, the reviewer cooked about a pound of cutlets on air-fry at 360°F for 20 minutes, then added about seven minutes. The reviewer said that model did not have a dedicated chicken preset. Salmon cooked to the reviewer’s satisfaction using the seafood preset at 360°F for 15 minutes. These are individual test observations, not general cooking instructions or guaranteed timings.

The reviewer described the interface as intuitive. They also noted that a standalone basket fryer does not replace toaster-oven functions such as dehydrating, toasting or broiling. Is the GreenPan Bistro XXL basket dishwasher safe?
For the Australian Bistro XXL, no: GreenPan says to hand wash both the basket and crisping basket. Do not apply the US Clear View listing’s dishwasher guidance to the XXL. GreenPan’s US page says the Clear View model’s removable drawer and tray are dishwasher safe; those instructions apply to that distinct US product.

The Australian listing recommends silicone utensils to help extend the life of the coating. It does not say a particular utensil is required or included. Check the care instructions supplied with the exact unit you own, especially if its model name or country listing differs. Who is the XXL likely to suit?
On the Australian listing’s stated capacity and functions, the XXL is aimed at buyers who want a relatively large basket appliance with several cooking modes and presets rather than a toaster-oven-style multifunction appliance. A 7.2 L rating and four-to-six-person serving estimate may be useful for planning, but neither establishes how much of a particular food will cook evenly in one batch. The available independent test does not settle that question for this model.
- Potential fit: You want a basket fryer with air-fry, grill, roast and bake modes and prefer preset controls.
- Check first: Your counter can accommodate the dimensions for your regional listing. The Australian and Italian pages give notably different measurements.
- Consider another format: You also need toaster-oven tasks such as toasting, dehydrating or broiling; the related Clear View reviewer noted those functions were not provided by that standalone fryer.
- Care trade-off: If you are buying the Australian XXL, its baskets are hand-wash only.
What should you confirm before buying?
- Match the exact product name and market. Confirm that the listing is the 7.2 L Bistro XXL, not the US 7-Quart 360° Clear View model.
- Verify local measurements and electrical details. The Australian and Italian listings disagree on dimensions; the Italian page lists 1650 W. Use the specifications attached to the exact regional SKU rather than assuming every market has identical hardware.
- Read the care instructions for that unit. The Australian XXL listing says hand wash only for the basket and crisping basket. Dishwasher claims for the US Clear View do not transfer to it.
- Check availability and warranty terms on the seller’s local page. The US page states a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturer defects for its US electrics, but that wording does not establish warranty coverage for the XXL in Australia, Italy or another market.
