Ce que Magnet affirme au sujet de GrayKey
Selon 404 Media, une vidéo de formation divulguée montre Magnet présenter GrayKey Preserve, un nouvel appareil, ainsi qu’Evidence Preservation Mode, une fonction destinée à certains appareils GrayKey existants. Le représentant de l’entreprise affirme que ces outils préservent l’état AFU de l’iPhone même si celui-ci redémarre. La vidéo indique aussi que l’outil coupe les communications radio après l’accès initial.
La vidéo semble dater du début de 2025, mais l’enquête de 404 Media a été publiée le 1er octobre 2026. Cette distinction compte : la date de publication rend l’affirmation publique, mais ne prouve ni la date de lancement du produit ni son déploiement à grande échelle. La capture d’écran décrite dans le reportage montrerait seulement le modèle et la version logicielle pendant la préservation.
404 Media rapporte la revendication de Magnet et les éléments visibles dans la vidéo, sans fournir de validation indépendante de son efficacité.

Pourquoi le redémarrage de l’iPhone change l’accès aux données
AFU : déverrouillé depuis le dernier démarrage
AFU signifie « After First Unlock » : l’iPhone a été déverrouillé au moins une fois depuis son démarrage. Certaines données et fonctions sont alors plus accessibles aux outils d’examen forensique.
BFU : pas encore déverrouillé depuis le démarrage
BFU signifie « Before First Unlock ». Après un redémarrage, l’utilisateur n’a pas encore saisi son code. L’accès à certaines données est alors plus difficile. Le Virginia Department of Forensic Science l’explique dans un avis diffusé le 20 février 2025 aux services de police. Cet avis décrit le changement d’état après redémarrage ; il ne confirme pas la capacité revendiquée par Magnet.

La fonction d’inactivité d’iOS 18.1
D’après un reportage de 404 Media publié le 8 novembre 2024, iOS 18.1 redémarre l’iPhone après 72 heures sans déverrouillage. Ce redémarrage ramène l’appareil de l’état AFU à l’état BFU et rend ainsi son contenu plus difficile d’accès par des outils forensiques. Les 72 heures correspondent au délai rapporté pour cette fonction, pas à une mesure indépendante de son efficacité générale.
Des alertes policières sur des iPhones qui redémarraient pendant leur stockage avaient précédé l’identification de la fonction. Le 7 novembre 2024, 404 Media rapportait que la cause exacte était alors inconnue et que des agents avançaient des hypothèses sur iOS 18. Le premier reportage décrivait ces alertes ; celui du lendemain rapportait l’identification du redémarrage après inactivité dans iOS 18.1.

En conséquence, il est trop tôt pour dire que la protection d’Apple est « tombée » au sens d’une faille confirmée ou d’un contournement démontré pour tous les iPhone. Ce qui est rapporté, c’est une capacité revendiquée par un fournisseur d’outils forensiques ; les détails techniques et une vérification indépendante ne sont pas publics dans les sources citées.

Elles ne montrent pas non plus qu’Apple a reconnu une faille. Sans réponse de l’entreprise ni détails techniques vérifiables sur GrayKey Preserve, on ne peut conclure ni à une correction ni à un contournement confirmé par Apple.
