A Chrome Unboxed report describes prominent Googlebook branding at one Best Buy store on September 30, 2026, four days before Best Buy’s listed U.S. release date. The account documents that location—not a chain-wide rollout or an “unprecedented” campaign.
What was on display at the Best Buy store?
Chrome Unboxed author Robby Payne reported seeing Googlebook sleeves around exterior security posts, a window cling, display cubes, and floor displays at one unnamed Best Buy location. The signage read “Introducing Googlebook: Designed for Gemini Intelligence” and “Syncs effortlessly with your phone.” Chrome Unboxed’s September 30 report is a firsthand account of a single store visit.

That observation does not establish how many stores received the displays, whether the treatment was deployed nationally, how much the campaign cost, or whether it affected sales. No independent figures quantifying reach or impact were reported in the sources available.

What is Googlebook?
Best Buy describes Googlebook as a laptop experience developed with several PC makers, rather than a single laptop model. Its U.S. product page listed devices from HP, Lenovo, Dell, and Acer when checked October 3, 2026. Best Buy and Google promote Gemini features and Android-device integration as central parts of the experience; these are product and retailer descriptions, not independent feature-test results.

Best Buy Canada’s September 21 announcement also named ASUS among the platform’s partners and highlighted Gemini, Android integration, and Google Play access. Google’s John Maletis, Vice President, Laptops & Devices, described the company’s aim this way: “The Googlebook platform is designed to bring the best of Google and Android to a new category of premium laptops.” That is Google’s positioning, not an independent assessment. Launch timing and prices listed
Best Buy’s U.S. page showed an October 4, 2026 release date and an $899 starting price when checked October 3. That is a retailer-listed starting price across the Googlebook listings at that time, not a price for every model or a guarantee of current availability. Best Buy’s U.S. Googlebook listings

What buyers should know about the advertised extras
Best Buy’s U.S. offer page listed 12 months of Google AI Pro, three months of YouTube Premium, one year of GeForce NOW, and limited trials of several creative apps. The retailer’s offer terms and redemption conditions apply; the listing does not establish that every benefit is available with every model or remains active. Check the current terms before ordering. Best Buy Canada advertised Pixel Buds 2A for eligible preorders, subject to limited quantities and terms. That is a Canada-specific retailer promotion, not a universal Googlebook bundle. Best Buy Canada’s announcement

The reported presentation was conspicuous at one store, and its messages put Gemini and phone syncing at the forefront ahead of the listed U.S. launch. The available account does not support calling it a nationwide takeover or an unprecedented retail campaign: neither scale nor historical comparison is established.
For shoppers, the practical next step is to compare exact models and current specifications rather than infer performance from the display. The cited listings do not provide a consistent set of model-by-model test results for processors, screens, memory, or storage, so they are not enough to recommend one Googlebook over another.
