What the reported Google Wallet features are
Android Authority found both features in an examination of Google Wallet version 26.27.941270914. The report, published July 15, 2026, emphasizes that an APK teardown can reveal code for features that may never ship. The tested interfaces therefore show Google’s direction, not a promise that every Wallet user will receive them.

Updates could turn Wallet notifications into a dedicated inbox
The reported Updates section was reached through a bell icon. In testing, it displayed a monthly summary of passes that Wallet had imported from Gmail. Google developers can already send push notifications to pass users, and Gmail can automatically add supported loyalty cards, boarding passes, event tickets and train tickets to Wallet. An Updates view could bring those separate events into one place instead of leaving users to discover them through individual pass screens or scattered notifications.
What could appear there
- Changes to a saved pass, such as revised event or travel information.
- News or promotions sent by the pass issuer.
- A recurring summary of items imported through Gmail.
These existing backend capabilities explain why a central notice area would be useful, but they do not establish that the tested layout, monthly cadence or every listed message type will ship. The report states that Updates had not rolled out to users.

Proof of Age is designed around selective disclosure
The second discovery is a “Proof of Age” flow. Its proposed privacy model is selective disclosure: a participating service would learn that a person meets an age threshold, while not receiving the person’s name, address, date of birth or identity document. That could support age-gated services without requiring users to send a scan of a passport, driver’s license or other ID each time.
What the teardown does—and does not—show
In Android Authority’s testing, opening the feature led to a blank page. That means the final user journey, the credentials it would accept, the exact age claims it could issue and the services that might verify them were not confirmed. There is also no published launch date, country list, adoption figure or device-compatibility requirement for this Wallet feature.

Google has separately announced an age-credential program
On June 4, 2026, Google said Sparkasse Bank customers in Europe would receive a way to prove their age in Google Wallet without revealing “their name, address or date of birth.” Google said it plans to expand the capability to additional issuers and customers. That announcement supports Google’s broader move toward digital age credentials, but it is not proof that the APK’s blank Proof of Age screen is already available, uses the same issuer set or will launch on the same schedule.

What Wallet users should expect now
- Do not look for a guaranteed launch date. Google has not published one for either rumored feature.
- Keep using existing pass controls. Supported Gmail-imported passes and issuer notifications continue to work through current Wallet functionality; the reported Updates page is not required for those systems.
- Treat age checks as issuer- and region-dependent. Google’s announced Sparkasse example is for customers in Europe, and expansion to other issuers and countries has not been dated.
- Be cautious with APK-based announcements. Work-in-progress code can be changed, restricted to testing, or removed before release.
What remains unresolved
- Whether Updates will be enabled broadly or limited to selected accounts.
- Which pass types, issuers and message categories will be supported.
- Whether Proof of Age will require a bank-issued credential, another certified issuer or a different identity source.
- Which countries, Android versions and Wallet-compatible devices will qualify.
- How participating websites and apps will request and verify an age claim.
For now, the strongest conclusion is that Google is exploring two complementary Wallet roles: a clearer communications layer for digital passes and a privacy-preserving credential for age gates. Only the first is visible as a tested interface, while the second also aligns with Google’s publicly stated age-credential strategy. Neither rumored feature should be treated as a generally available product until Google publishes rollout details.
