Google Play is expanding beyond app downloads with a Shop devices entry that surfaces selected Google and Samsung hardware, including the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Ultra. You do not complete the phone purchase inside Google Play: selecting a device sends you to Google Store, which processes the order. The feature is rolling out unevenly, and a listing does not by itself mean a cheaper price.
What the new Shop devices entry does
Reports published on October 14, 2026 describe a dedicated hardware-shopping surface in Google Play. It can show Google products alongside Samsung phones such as the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Ultra. In some versions of the app, the entry appears in the account switcher rather than as a permanent bottom-navigation tab.

The Play Store is therefore acting as a product-discovery front end. Google Play Help says that when hardware listed on Google Store is featured on Google Play, “your purchase is processed and managed on the Google Store.” That means Google Store controls configuration, payment, fulfillment, order status, returns and applicable support.
Can you buy a Galaxy S26 from Google Play?
Yes, if Shop devices is available for your account and region and the Galaxy S26 listing is in stock. The transaction itself moves to Google Store. Google Play does not become the merchant simply because it displayed the phone.

- Check whether Galaxy S26 or Galaxy S26 Ultra is shown, and review storage, color and availability.

- At Google Store checkout, review the complete total, including taxes, shipping, trade-in credits, financing terms and any promotional credit before placing the order.
Is the Galaxy S26 cheaper through Google Play?
There is no evidence of a universal Play Store discount. Price checks reported regular price tags on the hardware listings, and some regions showed Pixel products without Samsung devices. The Shop devices link is a new route to the catalog, not proof that Google has reduced the phone’s price.
Some buyers may see account-specific benefits. A report described eligibility for the same 10% Google One cashback benefit and the ability to apply Google Store credit to Samsung and Pixel devices reached through the portal. These benefits can depend on the account, country, promotion dates and checkout eligibility. Confirm the terms and the final amount shown by Google Store; do not treat the reported percentage as a guaranteed discount for every shopper.

How to compare the buying options
Compare the offer after every credit and condition is applied. A lower headline price can be offset by a weaker trade-in, a carrier commitment or a credit that arrives after purchase.

Why the tab may be missing
- Staged rollout: Google is enabling the feature selectively rather than publishing a single country-by-country launch schedule.
- Catalog differences: One region may show Pixel phones while another does not show Galaxy devices.
- Account and app state: The entry can depend on the signed-in account, app version, experiment assignment or local Store configuration.
- Inventory: A device can disappear when a configuration is unavailable even if the hardware category remains visible.
If you cannot find Shop devices, update Google Play, confirm the intended Google account is active, and check again later. Do not assume that clearing app data or changing a country setting will create eligibility; Google Play country changes have their own restrictions and can affect content and payments.

What promotions should you treat cautiously?
The reported 10% Google One cashback is an account- and promotion-dependent benefit, not a permanent Galaxy S26 markdown. A separate 2026 report described a $100 Amazon gift card tied to a Galaxy S26 promotion. That was a dated deal example, not a standing entitlement and not evidence that the Google Play route is cheaper. Any gift card, cashback or post-purchase credit should be compared by its redemption rules, expiration date and delivery timing rather than its advertised face value.
Bottom line for Galaxy S26 shoppers
Use Google Play’s Shop devices tab as a convenient way to discover the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Ultra, then judge the offer on the Google Store checkout page. The decisive number is your final out-of-pocket cost after trade-in, taxes, shipping, financing and any verified Google One cashback or Store credit. Compare that total with Samsung, carrier and Amazon offers before ordering.
