Choose the Google Pixel 8 for a compact body and the clearest long-term software promise. Choose the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion when you want a much larger, faster-refreshing display, a larger stated battery and faster charging. There is no reliable universal price winner: the available Pixel listing is a US certified-refurbished offer, while the Edge 70 Fusion prices cited are from the UK and Australia. Compare the same country, storage capacity and new or refurbished condition before deciding.
Google Pixel 8 vs Motorola Edge 70 Fusion at a glance
The two phones target different priorities. Google’s Pixel 8 is shorter, narrower and lighter, with a 6.2-inch OLED screen and Google’s seven-year operating-system, security and Pixel Drop update commitment. Motorola’s Edge 70 Fusion is physically larger and, in the India specification, adds a 6.8-inch AMOLED panel with up to 144 Hz refresh, a 7,000 mAh battery and 68 W TurboPower charging.

Which phone is better for your priorities?
Pick the Pixel 8 if size and support matter most
At 150.5 mm tall and 70.8 mm wide, the Pixel 8 is substantially easier to use one-handed than the India-listed Edge 70 Fusion, which measures 162.76 × 75.60 mm. It is also lighter at 187 g versus 193 g. The difference is not just a measurement: a smaller phone is easier to pocket, grip while walking and reach across with one thumb.
The Pixel’s strongest non-hardware advantage is its update commitment. Google says the Pixel 8 receives seven years of operating-system, security and Pixel Drop updates beginning with its first availability on the US Google Store. That makes the support horizon unusually clear for a phone introduced before the current generation, although the exact end date depends on that first-availability point rather than your purchase date.
Pick the Edge 70 Fusion if you want maximum screen area
The Edge 70 Fusion’s 6.8-inch panel gives you more room for maps, documents, games and split-screen work than the Pixel 8’s 6.2-inch display. Its India specification also lists up to 144 Hz, compared with 60–120 Hz for the Pixel. A higher maximum refresh rate can make supported scrolling and animation appear smoother, but it does not guarantee that every app runs at that rate or that the phone will feel faster in every task.
The Motorola is thinner at 7.99 mm against the Pixel’s 8.9 mm, despite its larger footprint. Its 193 g weight is only 6 g above the Pixel, so buyers who value a big screen without a very heavy handset may prefer its proportions.
Display and physical design
Google lists the Pixel 8’s 6.2-inch OLED at 1080 × 2400 resolution with a variable 60–120 Hz refresh range. Motorola’s India support page lists a 6.8-inch AMOLED at 2772 × 1272 and up to 144 Hz. The Motorola therefore wins on diagonal size and peak refresh rate, while the Pixel favors a smaller chassis and easier handling.

Resolution numbers should be read alongside screen size. The Pixel’s 1080 × 2400 panel is packed into a smaller area; the Edge’s 2772 × 1272 panel spreads more pixels across a larger display. Neither specification alone establishes which screen looks better in person. Brightness, calibration, viewing angle, touch response and software behavior would require a controlled side-by-side test, and the cited sources do not provide one.
- For commuting and one-handed use: the Pixel 8’s narrower body is the practical choice.
- For reading, video and gaming: the Edge 70 Fusion’s 6.8-inch panel provides more usable area.
- For smooth scrolling: both advertise high-refresh modes, but the Edge’s 144 Hz figure is a maximum, not a promise that all content uses it.
Processor, RAM and storage
Pixel 8 uses Google’s Tensor G3 with 8 GB of RAM and either 128 GB or 256 GB of storage. Motorola’s India support page lists the Edge 70 Fusion with Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM, and 128 GB or 256 GB of storage.

Tensor G3 and Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 belong to different design approaches, and the available material does not provide a controlled benchmark comparison. Everyday speed also depends on thermal limits, software optimization, storage configuration and the specific regional model.
The Edge’s 12 GB option may appeal if you keep many applications open or plan to retain the phone for several years, but RAM capacity alone does not prove better performance. Check the exact seller listing: Motorola states that specifications can vary by market, and the global launch material names a different Snapdragon generation from the India support page.
Battery capacity and charging
Google lists a typical 4,575 mAh battery for Pixel 8 and says it can reach up to 50% in about 30 minutes using a separately sold 30 W USB-C charger. “Up to” is a charging claim under specified conditions, not a guarantee for every charger, cable, temperature or battery state.

Motorola’s India support page lists a 7,000 mAh battery and 68 W TurboPower charging, and says the charger is included for that listing. However, Motorola’s global launch announcement describes a 5,200 mAh configuration. TechRadar also notes that some regions may use 5,200 mAh rather than 7,000 mAh. These are not figures to blend into one universal Edge 70 Fusion specification.

A larger battery can provide more capacity for a given workload, and 68 W charging can shorten top-ups when the phone and charger support the advertised rate. Actual endurance still depends on display size and refresh mode, cellular signal, camera use, gaming, temperature and background software. Capacity and wattage do not constitute an independent battery-life test.
How to avoid buying the wrong battery variant
- Identify the country in which the phone will be sold and used.
- Read the seller’s complete model or SKU description, not only the product title.
- Confirm the stated battery capacity, Snapdragon version, RAM and storage together.
- Check whether a 68 W charger is included with that exact package.
- Keep a screenshot or copy of the listing until the return period ends.
Motorola’s global announcement says availability is limited to select countries in Latin America, EMEA and Asia Pacific and advises readers to contact local teams for pricing and availability: “For local price information and availability, please contact your local PR team.” Read the announcement at Motorola News.
Cameras: what the specifications do and do not tell you
Pixel 8 has a 50 MP wide camera and a 12 MP ultrawide with autofocus. The India Edge 70 Fusion listing specifies a 50 MP main camera with optical image stabilization and a 13 MP ultrawide with macro capability.
The Edge’s extra megapixel on the ultrawide does not automatically produce better photos than the Pixel’s 12 MP unit. Pixel count is only one part of image quality; sensor size, lens quality, stabilization, autofocus, HDR processing and low-light algorithms also matter. Likewise, the Edge’s OIS description confirms a hardware feature but does not establish that it wins every moving-subject or night scene.

Choose based on the camera features you actually use. The Pixel offers an autofocus ultrawide specification, while the Edge listing combines an ultrawide with macro capability and OIS on the main camera. A genuine image-quality verdict would require comparable photos from the same scenes, software versions and lighting conditions; the cited specifications are not that test.
Software support and long-term ownership
Google’s seven-year commitment covers OS updates, security updates and Pixel Drops from the Pixel 8’s first US Google Store availability. This is a stated policy, not a prediction about how fast each update arrives or how every new feature will run on older hardware.
TechRadar reports three years of OS updates for its reviewed Edge 70 Fusion. Because Motorola’s regional configurations and support terms can differ, verify the promise shown for the exact country and model before purchase. The review and reported support period are available at TechRadar’s Edge 70 Fusion review.
If you keep phones until the end of their supported life, the Pixel’s documented period is the safer choice. If you replace phones frequently and value display size, charging speed or a larger battery more than a long update runway, the Edge’s hardware emphasis may matter more.
Price difference: why there is no single honest number
The available prices are not a like-for-like comparison. Google’s US Store page currently shows a certified refurbished Pixel 8 at $389 for 128 GB and $459 for 256 GB. Google says those devices are quality-tested to its standards, restored with authentic Pixel parts and covered by the same one-year warranty as new devices. Prices are live and can change; see the US refurbished Pixel 8 listing.

TechRadar reports the Edge 70 Fusion at £379.99 in the UK and AU$499 in Australia, and says it was not on sale in the US at the time of its review. Those figures are reported regional prices, not a current worldwide quote. They also do not establish whether the compared Pixel unit is new, refurbished, discounted or sold with the same storage.
| Price evidence | What it represents | Why it cannot produce a universal difference |
|---|---|---|
| Pixel 8: $389 (128 GB) and $459 (256 GB) | Google US certified-refurbished listing | US dollars, refurbished condition and live listing |
| Edge 70 Fusion: £379.99 / AU$499 | TechRadar-reported UK and Australia pricing | Different countries, currencies, date and market availability |
To calculate a meaningful difference, compare both phones in the same country, with the same storage tier, identical new or refurbished condition, equivalent warranty and any included charger. Currency conversion alone is not enough because taxes, retailer discounts, import costs and regional configurations can change the final price.
Regional specification warning for the Edge 70 Fusion
The biggest shopping risk is assuming every Edge 70 Fusion has the same internal hardware. Motorola’s India support page, accessed in 2026, lists Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, a 7,000 mAh battery, 8 GB or 12 GB RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB storage. Motorola’s global launch announcement lists Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 and a 5,200 mAh battery. TechRadar’s review table also lists Gen 3 and discusses the possibility of a 5,200 mAh regional model.

1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThose sources indicate market-specific configurations or inconsistent published materials. Treat the India values as India-specific, the global announcement values as a separate announced configuration, and the review’s figures as applying to the model examined by TechRadar. Confirm the exact SKU and seller documentation in your market before relying on the processor, battery, memory combination or charger-in-box claim.
Which one should you buy?
Buy the Google Pixel 8 when
- You want a phone that is meaningfully shorter and narrower than the Edge 70 Fusion.
- You value Google’s stated seven-year OS, security and Pixel Drop support.
- You prefer a 6.2-inch display that is easier to manage one-handed.
- You are comfortable checking whether a listing is certified refurbished rather than new.
Buy the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion when
- You want a 6.8-inch display and a higher maximum refresh rate.
- You prioritize the India-listed 7,000 mAh battery and 68 W charging, subject to confirming your market’s SKU.
- You want the option of 12 GB RAM.
- You prefer a thinner large-screen phone and do not require the Pixel’s seven-year update commitment.
Pause before ordering either phone when
- The listing does not identify storage capacity or regional model number.
- The Edge listing omits battery size, processor generation or charger details.
- You are comparing a new phone with a refurbished phone and calling the difference a device-price gap.
- You are using megapixels, refresh rate or battery capacity as a substitute for measured camera, display or endurance testing.
Bottom line
The Pixel 8 is the compact, long-support option: its 6.2-inch body is easier to handle and Google states seven years of updates. The Edge 70 Fusion is the large-screen, fast-charging option, with the India model listing a 6.8-inch 144 Hz display, 7,000 mAh battery and 68 W charging. Because Motorola publishes conflicting regional specifications and the cited prices come from different markets and conditions, verify the exact Edge SKU and make a same-market, same-condition price comparison before buying.
