Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesAs of October 7, 2026, the choice is between the Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold and Samsung’s current Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. Choose Samsung if a thinner, lighter foldable and Samsung’s premium foldable experience matter most; choose Pixel if you prefer Google’s approach and value its higher published dust-and-water protection rating. Both are reported to have 6.5-inch cover and 8-inch inner displays, so the deciding differences are how they feel, what their software is like to use, and the price and support terms available where you live.
Start with how you will use a foldable
These are not simply two phones with matching screen sizes. A foldable has to work both as a closed phone you carry and type on and as a larger screen you unfold for reading, multitasking, video, or work. The same diagonal measurement does not guarantee the same width, proportions, or hand feel.

Google’s official specifications identify the Pixel 11 Pro Fold as its 2026 model. Samsung’s current lineup guide covers the Fold8 family. Earlier Pixel Fold and Galaxy Z Fold generations have different specifications, so do not use older comparisons to judge these two current models.

How do they compare when folded and open?
Android Central’s 2026 comparison lists the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra at 215 g and 8.9 mm thick when folded, versus 238 g and 10.1 mm for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. On those reported figures, Samsung is lighter and thinner to carry. Whether its closed shape is more comfortable to hold or type on is personal; if possible, handle both in person and try a few minutes of typing before choosing.
#1 Best Overall

- Unlocked Android phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan: Works with Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers[4]
- As stunning as it is strong: Pixel 11 Pro Fold’s ultra-durable composite back is lighter, stronger, and designed to be nearly impossible to crack[5,6]; and with scratch-resistant glass and an all-new hinge, it’s 3x stronger[5]
- Unfold the fun: Drift away into immersive entertainment on the brighter-than-ever 8-inch screen[2]; take it into tabletop mode for hands-free streaming of your favorite content

| What to compare | Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold | Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra |
|---|---|---|
| Cover display diagonal | 6.5 inches (Google’s 2026 specification) | 6.5 inches (Android Central’s 2026 comparison) |
| Inner display diagonal | 8 inches (Google’s 2026 specification) | 8 inches (Android Central’s 2026 comparison) |
| Weight | 238 g (Android Central, 2026) | 215 g (Android Central, 2026) |
| Folded thickness | 10.1 mm (Android Central, 2026) | 8.9 mm (Android Central, 2026) |
On the large screens, consider the tasks you actually do. An 8-inch inner display can make reading, viewing two apps, or working with a document more comfortable, but the experience depends on whether your apps make good use of the space. Check your most-used apps in a foldable layout if multitasking is a major reason to buy.
What do the IP ratings mean for durability?
Android Central’s 2026 comparison lists IP68 for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold and IP48 for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. The first digit concerns protection against solid particles and the second against water under specified test conditions; IP68 indicates a higher dust-protection rating than IP48, while both ratings indicate water resistance. Neither rating makes a phone immune to damage, and an IP rating is not a promise that every exposure, accident, or form of wear is covered.
Rank #2
- Unfold extraordinary with Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold; with Pixel’s largest screen and Gemini, Google’s most advanced AI, it’s made for multitasking and entertainment[1]
- Unlocked Android phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan[2]; it works with Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers
- Get a head start on syncing your data before it even arrives: After you purchase your new Pixel, look for an email that explains how to transfer your photos, videos, passwords, and more in just a few quick steps[14]
- The gearless, high-strength hinge makes it durable enough to handle about 10 years of folding[3]; plus, Pixel 10 Pro Fold is built with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance[4]
- The brighter-than-ever 8-inch Super Actua Flex display is Pixel’s largest screen yet[12]; and you can use Split Screen to plan a trip, drag and drop images, and open multiple apps at once[5]
If dust or water exposure is a frequent concern, treat the Pixel’s cited IP68 rating as a meaningful advantage, but check the manufacturer’s current terms for your region and how they address damage. For either phone, avoid assuming that a rating makes deliberate submersion or dusty use risk-free.

How much should camera claims influence the choice?
Android Central characterizes Samsung’s camera hardware as stronger, but that is a reviewer assessment, not a controlled camera-lab comparison. Hardware specifications alone do not settle which phone produces photos you prefer. If the camera is central to your decision, compare sample photos from both phones—especially in the lighting and situations you shoot most often—rather than relying on a general hardware verdict.

What is known about battery life?
Tom’s Guide recorded 12 hours and 19 minutes for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 in its 2026 5G web-surfing battery test. That is one publication’s result under a particular test, not a guarantee of everyday runtime and not a direct comparison with the Pixel: no matching controlled Pixel 11 Pro Fold result is available here. Your screen use, signal, settings, and apps will affect how long either phone lasts.
How long will they get software updates?
Android Central’s 2026 comparison reports seven years of software updates for each phone. The exact start date, what kinds of updates are included, and the applicable policy can depend on the manufacturer’s terms and your country. Before buying for long-term use, confirm the current official policy for the specific model and region rather than treating a comparison’s summary as the full commitment.

Samsung’s Newsroom says, “The best phone is the one that fits your life, and Samsung Galaxy’s portfolio is designed to help you find it.” That is brand guidance rather than an independent evaluation, but it captures the practical choice: decide which trade-offs suit your everyday use, then verify the local price, exact model, storage, carrier compatibility, and update policy.
