Choose the Pixel 10a if Google’s software and update promise matter most
Google’s stated seven years of OS, security, and Pixel Drop updates is a clear reason to favor the Pixel if you want to keep a phone for a long time and prefer Google’s software experience. That promise is not identical to Samsung’s: Samsung describes up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades and up to six years of security updates for the A57 and A37. “Generations” and “years” are different measures, and the manufacturers’ commitments do not establish identical update schedules or feature parity.

Wireless charging is another concrete Pixel advantage over the A57. The Pixel also has a 6.3-inch display, which may appeal if you want a less expansive screen than Samsung’s larger-display option.
Choose the Galaxy A57 if you want Samsung’s hardware and ecosystem
The A57 makes more sense if you favor Samsung’s Galaxy software and devices, a larger display, or a dedicated macro camera in addition to main and ultrawide cameras. Its reported wired charging ceiling is higher than the Pixel’s, though the actual charging experience depends on conditions and compatible equipment.

Samsung also lists AI features such as Gemini and Circle to Search for the 2026 Galaxy A series, but feature availability varies by model and region. Samsung notes that some AI features are limited to the A27, A37, and A57; do not assume every Galaxy A phone has the same capabilities.

Compare camera systems, not megapixel counts
The A57 has three rear cameras, including a 5 MP macro camera; the Pixel has two, with a 48 MP main and 13 MP ultrawide. Those specifications describe hardware, not the quality of finished photos or video. A higher megapixel number or an extra lens alone does not establish which phone takes better pictures.

Treat battery claims as separate measures
Battery capacity, a manufacturer’s advertised endurance, and charging speed describe different things. Samsung advertises up to 29 hours for the A57, while Google advertises over 30 hours for the Pixel; the companies’ methods are not established as comparable. Neither those estimates nor the phones’ mAh capacities prove which will last longer in a particular person’s use.

- Check current U.S. prices. Pixel’s original $499 launch price was announced on February 18, 2026, but Android Central reported $599 for 128GB and $699 for 256GB on October 2. Samsung’s A-series prices are listed before eligible trade-in. Confirm both phones’ live totals and stock with the seller.
- Match storage and discounts. Compare the same storage class where available, and include trade-in value, carrier conditions, and any sale price rather than comparing list prices alone.
- Pick the trade-off you care about. The Pixel offers wireless charging and Google’s stated seven-year update window. The A57 offers Samsung’s Galaxy ecosystem, a larger display, a triple rear-camera arrangement, and faster wired charging according to the cited comparison.
