Which models should you compare?
For a mid-range comparison, the clearest current pairing is Google Pixel 10a versus Samsung Galaxy A57 5G. How long will each receive updates?
Google’s policy lists the Pixel 10a, Pixel 9a and Pixel 8a in its seven-year update group. That policy should not be applied to every older A-series Pixel: Google separately says Pixel 7a and Pixel 6a receive five years of OS and security updates from the date each first became available on the Google Store in the US. Samsung states that current Galaxy A devices receive six years of OS and security updates. Which one should you buy?
- Pick the Pixel 10a if you want the smaller 6.3-inch phone, Qi wireless charging or Google’s stated seven-year support period.
- Pick the Galaxy A57 5G if you want a larger 6.7-inch display or up to 45W wired charging and its current local price works for you.
- Look at the Galaxy A17, A27 or A37 if your budget is below the A57’s tier. Samsung’s listed US prices span $249.99 to $449.99 for those models before eligible trade-in; confirm current local pricing and availability.
- Do not choose by camera count alone. Compare relevant photo samples or independent tests rather than treating megapixel counts as a quality verdict.
- Check the exact model and storage before ordering. Samsung lists 128 GB or 256 GB for the A57 and A37, and 128 GB for the A27 and A17, with expandable storage up to 2 TB for the latter two. Local variants may differ. Samsung Galaxy A-series US listings.
