The Pixel 10a is a weaker bargain at its new price. Google launched the 128GB model at $499 in the US; on 2 October 2026, Google’s US Store listed it from $599. Stuff reported that both storage tiers had risen by $100 in the US and £100 in the UK. The phone still offers a capable camera pair and seven years of software updates, but its hardware changes little from the Pixel 9a.
How much does the Pixel 10a cost now?
Google’s 18 February 2026 launch announcement set the US starting price at $499, with availability beginning 5 March. On 2 October, Google’s US Store product page showed a starting price of $599. Stuff reported the following tier-by-tier prices and increases in the US and UK:

The launch figures come from Google’s announcement; the new tier prices and £499 UK launch price are reported by Stuff. Google’s current US listing corroborates the $599 starting price, but does not establish current UK pricing. Prices, stock and promotions can differ by retailer and market, so check the exact storage option and whether a deal has carrier or other conditions before buying.
Why the price increase changes the value
At $499, the Pixel 10a had a straightforward appeal as a less expensive route to Google’s camera features and long update commitment. At $599, those strengths have to compete with the fact that the phone is not a major hardware advance over its predecessor. The extra $100 applies to each storage tier, according to Stuff; choosing 256GB does not avoid the increase.

Google has not publicly explained this specific price rise in the reporting available on 2 October 2026. Stuff and 9to5Google point to rising memory or storage costs as a possible explanation, but that remains unconfirmed. Do not treat it as a cause Google has confirmed.
What you still get for the higher price
Camera features and hardware
The Pixel 10a has a 6.3-inch display, Google Tensor G4 processor, 8GB of RAM and a 48MP main camera paired with a 13MP ultra-wide camera. Google highlights features including Auto Best Take and Camera Coach. TechRadar describes it as a strong affordable Pixel, while noting that it has no telephoto camera and that there are few major changes over the Pixel 9a. It also does not support PixelSnap magnets.

Seven years of updates
Google promises seven years of software updates. That is a meaningful reason to consider the phone if you are replacing an older device and plan to keep your next one for years. It does not, however, make the underlying hardware newer: the Pixel 10a still uses Tensor G4 and 8GB of RAM, and the support promise should be weighed alongside the modest generational change.
Battery result, with a testing caveat
TechRadar reports a Future PLC lab battery test result of 15 hours and 16 minutes in 2026. That is one laboratory result, not a guarantee of runtime for every owner; actual battery life varies with use and conditions.

Should you buy one, or look elsewhere?
Choose the Pixel 10a if its current price works for you
It remains a reasonable option if you want Google’s camera tools, a main-and-ultra-wide camera setup and the seven-year update commitment, and you cannot find a better-priced alternative that suits you. Compare the actual price for your preferred storage tier rather than assuming the launch price is still available.
Keep a Pixel 9a if you already own one
TechRadar sees little hardware reason for Pixel 9a owners to upgrade. Unless a particular Pixel 10a feature or the condition of your current phone makes a replacement worthwhile, the price increase makes switching harder to justify.

Check remaining Pixel 9a stock
Stuff reports that Google discontinued the Pixel 9a and suggests it could be better value below $499 in the US or £499 in the UK. That is conditional: remaining stock, exact configuration and seller price need to be checked locally. Do not assume a discontinued model is still available at that price.
