The Google Pixel 10 Pro XL is a strong fit if you want a bright, expansive display, flexible cameras, built-in Qi2 magnets and Google’s stated seven-year update commitment. Its main trade-offs are a large, heavy body, performance that trails leading rivals in published tests, and battery life that looks different depending on the test. It makes most sense for people who value the screen and Pixel camera experience more than compact handling or top-tier gaming power.
What are the Pixel 10 Pro XL’s main advantages?
A bright, roomy display
The 6.8-inch Super Actua display gives you generous space for video, reading, maps and camera framing. In Tom’s Guide’s 2025 testing, the screen reached 2,555 nits peak brightness and was easier to see in generally bright conditions than the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Three useful rear-camera perspectives
Google lists a 50 MP wide camera, a 48 MP ultrawide with Macro Focus and a 48 MP 5x telephoto camera. That combination covers everyday shots, close-up subjects and distant framing without relying on digital zoom for every situation. Google lists Pro Zoom up to 100x, but that maximum digital zoom should not be treated as equivalent to optical detail. Google says the Pixel 10 family includes Pixelsnap, its built-in Qi2 wireless-charging and magnetic-accessory system. For the XL, Google specifies wireless charging up to 25W. A long stated software commitment
Google’s August 2025 launch announcement says the phone will receive seven years of Pixel Drops, OS updates and security updates. This is Google’s published commitment; it does not establish that every future feature will arrive in every region or on the same schedule. What are the Pixel 10 Pro XL’s drawbacks?
Its size and weight are a real compromise
The 6.8-inch screen comes in a substantial body: TechRadar lists the phone at 232 g. That can be welcome for media and camera use, but less convenient for one-handed operation, smaller pockets or anyone who prefers a lighter phone. Tensor G5 trails rivals in benchmark and gaming tests
In Tom’s Guide’s 2025 Geekbench 6 testing, the Pixel 10 Pro XL scored 2,322 single-core and 6,286 multi-core. In the same publication’s testing, the Galaxy S25 Ultra scored 3,031 and 9,829, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max scored 3,386 and 8,306. These are publication-specific benchmark results, not a universal measure of everyday responsiveness. Tom’s Guide also reported lowering settings in a demanding game, making the performance gap more relevant to heavy gamers and sustained workloads than to ordinary browsing and messaging. Battery-life verdicts are not consistent across tests
Tom’s Guide recorded 14 hours 20 minutes in its continuous cellular web-browsing test, nearly 90 minutes longer than its Pixel 9 Pro XL result, but below the Galaxy S25 Ultra and iPhone 16 Pro Max results it cited. TechRadar’s separate Future Labs test found only a 15-minute improvement over the Pixel 9 Pro XL, and its reviewer described day-to-day endurance as mediocre. These tests use different methods, so their results should not be merged into a single battery ranking. Google’s “24+ hour” and “up to 100-hour” figures are manufacturer claims under stated usage or saver conditions, not equivalent independent test results. How good are the Pixel 10 Pro XL’s battery and charging?
Google lists a 5,200 mAh typical battery capacity, with a minimum capacity of 5,079 mAh. The manufacturer says a 45W USB-C PPS charger or higher can charge it to up to 70% in about 30 minutes; that charger is sold separately. Wireless charging is specified at up to 25W with Qi2. For a practical decision, give more weight to a battery result that resembles your own routine—such as cellular use, screen brightness and workload—than to a manufacturer’s hours claim or a test with a different method. The available launch-period reviews offer notably different assessments of endurance, so a heavy user should not assume the XL is a battery-life leader.

Who should buy the Pixel 10 Pro XL?
- Choose it if you prefer a large, bright screen for media, reading, photography or navigation.
- Choose it if you want wide, ultrawide/macro and 5x telephoto options, plus Google’s camera processing and software features.
- Choose it if built-in Qi2 magnets and Google’s stated update commitment matter to you.
- Look elsewhere if compact size, lighter weight, maximum gaming performance or consistently class-leading battery endurance is your priority.
Should you choose the XL or a smaller Pixel 10 Pro?
The smaller Pixel 10 Pro has overlapping camera hardware but a smaller body and a lower charging ceiling. The XL is the more suitable choice when the larger display and faster charging matter enough to justify its extra size and cost; otherwise, the smaller model avoids some of the XL’s handling trade-off.
