Goldman Sachs, Hong Kong FMI Services Limited and Moody’s Ratings joined the Global Synchronizer Foundation on March 19, 2025, bringing the organization to more than 30 participants, according to the Foundation’s announcement. The move adds banking, market-infrastructure and credit-risk perspectives to the governance community around Canton Network; it is not a consumer product launch or evidence by itself of a particular adoption or financial outcome.

Which institutions joined the Global Synchronizer Foundation?

The Foundation announced on March 19, 2025, that Goldman Sachs, Hong Kong FMI Services Limited (HKFMI), and Moody’s Ratings had joined as members. The announcement said the additions brought the Foundation to more than 30 participants. Read the Foundation announcement.

Jørgen Ouaknine, the Foundation’s chairperson and Euroclear’s Global Head of Innovation & Digital Assets, said the new members would bring “valuable industry perspectives.” In practical terms, the organizations represent different areas of finance: a global bank, a market-infrastructure organization, and a credit-ratings business. Their membership places those perspectives within the Foundation community, but does not by itself establish that any particular Canton application is in production or that the network will achieve a specific commercial result.

What is Canton’s Global Synchronizer?

The Global Synchronizer is shared infrastructure within the Canton Network. The Foundation describes it as providing real-time synchronization and interoperability for regulated financial assets. Canton’s July 1, 2024 go-live article presents the network as infrastructure for tokenizing and exchanging regulated financial assets and liabilities. Read Canton’s launch article.

The idea is to let participating applications coordinate transactions involving assets or liabilities while retaining the privacy and controls needed for regulated financial activity. Rather than treating every application as an isolated ledger, Canton aims to support synchronized interactions across applications. That is the network’s stated purpose; the membership announcement is not independent testing of its performance, privacy properties or economic impact.

Why do Goldman Sachs, HKFMI and Moody’s matter to the Foundation?

The three additions broaden the types of institutional experience represented in the Foundation: banking, market infrastructure and credit risk. For a network intended to connect regulated financial applications, participation from organizations with those backgrounds can inform discussions about governance and how the ecosystem develops.

Membership should not be confused with a public commitment to use every Canton application, an endorsement of a particular asset, or a guarantee that adoption will follow. The March announcement provides no independently audited economic-impact figure and does not quantify the commercial effect of the new members.

How is the Foundation’s membership changing?

The more-than-30 figure applies to the March 19, 2025 announcement, not to a permanent or current total. Later public updates show that membership continued to change:

Date Reported additions Source and qualification
March 19, 2025 Goldman Sachs, Hong Kong FMI Services Limited and Moody’s Ratings Foundation announcement; said the additions brought it to more than 30 participants.
June 13, 2025 Proof Group, T-RIZE Group, Chainlink Labs and BNP Paribas Federal Register notice recorded these later additions and stated membership remained open. Federal Register notice.
July 8, 2025 Kaiko, BitSafe, 4M Group, Lukka, AngelHack, TRM Labs and Fairmint Listed in a Foundation update. Foundation update.

These dated additions show why a member count or list should be tied to its source and date. The June 2025 notice stated that membership remained open; the sources cited here do not establish a live, definitive membership total for October 2026.

How can organizations participate in Canton?

Joining the Foundation is one participation route, not the only one. Canton’s launch article identifies four ways organizations can take part:

  • Run a super validator: operate a validator role in the network.
  • Run a node: connect infrastructure to participate in the network.
  • Join the Foundation: take part in the organization supporting the Global Synchronizer ecosystem.
  • Run an application: build or operate an application on Canton.

The announcement of three new Foundation members therefore marks a governance and ecosystem development. It does not mean those organizations are all participating in the same technical capacity.

What this announcement does—and does not—show

It shows that three prominent financial organizations joined the Foundation in March 2025 and that the membership community continued to add organizations in subsequent cited updates. It also highlights the Foundation’s role in the institutional ecosystem around Canton’s shared synchronization infrastructure.

It does not, on its own, demonstrate a consumer-facing product, independently verified network performance, a guaranteed adoption trajectory or measurable economic returns. Those questions require evidence beyond a membership announcement.
