What the GCPAC350W offers
This is a portable, hot-and-cold unit that sends exhaust air through a hose to a window. Goldair’s 2022 operating manual specifies a 12,000 Btu/h (3.53kW) cooling capacity and an 8,800 Btu/h (2.58kW) heating capacity. CHOICE rounds the cooling figure to 3.5kW and lists heating at 2.58kW. Capacity ratings describe the product specification; they do not establish how quickly it will cool or heat a particular room.

The manual lists four operating modes: cooling, heating, dehumidification and fan. It specifies 400m³/h airflow, R290 refrigerant with a 230g charge, and a 220–240V, 50Hz electrical supply. Rated power input is 1,357W in cooling mode and 1,020W in heating mode. These input figures are not an independent efficiency rating.

How to judge performance evidence
The available public CHOICE page does not show the expert rating, cooling score, efficiency score, high-fan noise result, recommended room size, warranty fields or other test results. Without those results, it is not possible to make a supported claim about measured cooling speed, noise, efficiency or the room size it can handle. The published capacity ratings alone cannot answer those questions.
For a useful comparison with another portable air conditioner, look for measured cooling and noise results, energy efficiency, tested room suitability, window and exhaust compatibility, dimensions and weight, warranty terms, and a current price. CHOICE’s relevant test results are behind member access on its public page.

Installation and room requirements
The manual says the appliance must be installed, operated and stored in a room with a floor area larger than 11m². It also requires at least 300mm of clearance around the unit, an unobstructed exhaust, and installation of the exhaust hose and window sealing plate.

- Install the exhaust hose and window sealing plate so hot air can leave through the window and the exhaust path remains unobstructed.
- Keep the hose within the manual’s specified arrangement. It may be extended from 280mm to 1,500mm as specified; do not add an extension or substitute a different hose.
- If the unit was transported or has been on its side, wait two hours before operating it so the refrigerant can settle.
Goldair lists a universal portable-AC window kit separately, but compatibility with the GCPAC350W is not established by the available information. Check the required window arrangement and model fit before buying an accessory.

Safety and servicing
The manual states: “Appliance is filled with flammable gas R290.” Because the refrigerant is flammable, follow the manual’s precautions and use an authorized service center for repairs. Do not attempt improvised refrigerant or internal repairs.
Is the GCPAC350W available, and what does it cost?
Goldair’s support index still lists the GCPAC350W as a 3.5kW hot-and-cold portable air conditioner with Wi-Fi. Its current storefront collection displays other models, not the GCPAC350W among the six products shown there. Neither detail confirms that this model is discontinued or available to buy: the exact model’s current stock and price remain unresolved.

CHOICE’s $849 listing is not a confirmed live retailer price. Check for an exact GCPAC350W listing in your market and confirm stock, delivery, warranty coverage and included window components before making a purchase decision.
Verdict: who should consider it?
The GCPAC350W’s documented feature set suits someone specifically seeking a portable unit with both heating and cooling, plus dehumidify and fan modes, who can accommodate a window exhaust installation. Its published capacities and physical dimensions help with initial fit checks, but they are not a substitute for independent results. With public test scores unavailable and current retail availability unconfirmed, the evidence is not enough to recommend it on performance or value alone; verify a live offer and seek accessible measured results before comparing it with alternatives.
