CHOICE’s public Goldair GCPAC200 review identifies the model as cooling-only and lists a 2.1kW cooling capacity, R290 refrigerant, a window kit, a 1.5 m duct and three fan speeds. Those details differ from some of Goldair’s listed specifications, including the capacity label and number of speeds; the pages do not explain the differences.

CHOICE’s test score, cooling and efficiency scores, noise results, running costs, and pros and cons are member-only. The publicly visible specifications therefore do not support a conclusion that the unit is quiet, efficient, good value or suitable for a particular room. A specification is not a measured test result.
Specifications that need checking
The published figures are not fully consistent. In particular, Goldair lists the unit at 30.5 kg, while CHOICE lists 20.38 kg. CHOICE also gives claimed dimensions as 70 × 31 × 30 cm, compared with Goldair’s 695 × 310 × 300 mm. The dimension figures are broadly similar after unit conversion, but the weight figures are not. If weight matters for moving or positioning the appliance, confirm it on the current unit label or with Goldair before buying.

The GCPAC200 is not a vent-free appliance. Goldair’s FAQ says portable air conditioners need to be vented, and describes using the supplied hose and window kit to route hot air outdoors. The manufacturer’s explanation is available on its product page.

The GCPAC200 instruction manual specifies these setup conditions:
- Use, operate and store the appliance in a room with a floor area greater than 7 m².
- Place it on a flat surface with at least 300 mm clearance around the unit, including above it.
- Fit the exhaust pipe and window sealing plate assembly, and keep the exhaust unobstructed.
- Use the specified exhaust hose length of 280–1,500 mm. The manual says not to extend the hose or replace it with a different hose.
- After transport, or if the appliance has been on its side, allow the refrigerant to settle for two hours before use.
The manual identifies R290 as a flammable refrigerant and warns: “Do not pierce or burn.” It also says to store the appliance in a room without continuously operating ignition sources. Follow the manual’s safety instructions and consult the current Goldair support materials if the supplied manual differs from the one provided with your appliance. Goldair’s cooling manuals page lists support material for the model.

Goldair’s product page displayed A$399, reduced from A$449, when retrieved on 7 October 2026. Treat that as a dated price snapshot, not a guaranteed current offer. CHOICE lists A$449 as the tested-model price but does not state when that figure was recorded.
Goldair’s product page lists a one-year warranty. The manual says domestic use is covered for one year and non-domestic use is limited to three months. Check the current warranty terms for your purchase and intended use.
Who should consider the GCPAC200?
The listed features may suit someone seeking a portable, cooling-only unit with a dehumidifier mode, remote, timer and included window kit, provided the installation requirements work for the room and window. The published evidence does not establish cooling performance for a particular room, running cost, noise level or value relative to alternatives.
