Public information confirms its basic features, but not enough to judge cooling performance: CHOICE marks it discontinued, hides its expert rating and test results behind membership, and published specifications conflict with a retailer listing. Treat availability and fit as things to verify before buying.
What the GCPAC10 is—and what this review can establish
Goldair’s support catalogue identifies the GCPAC10 as a 2.93kW portable air conditioner. CHOICE rounds its cooling capacity to 2.9kW and describes the model as cooling-only. The operating manual lists cooling, fan and dehumidifying modes; those modes describe operation, not a claim that the unit can heat a room.

CHOICE’s public product page marks the model discontinued, but its expert rating and detailed results—including cooling, energy-efficiency and high-fan noise results—are member-only. The height differs by nearly 17cm, the weights differ, and Mitre 10’s own page disagrees about fan speeds. The available listings do not explain whether these differences reflect measurement methods, versions or listing errors. Mitre 10’s 28m² coverage is a retailer claim, not an independently verified room-size recommendation; CHOICE’s recommended room-size figure is not publicly visible.
Features and what comes in the listing
Mitre 10 lists a remote and window kit, along with cooling and dehumidifier modes, an adjustable thermostat, sleep mode and a 24-hour timer. It also describes two fan speeds in its highlights, while its detail copy says three. The manual adds fan mode and explains drainage and filter care. Confirm the included accessories and controls on the specific unit being sold, especially for second-hand or remaining-stock purchases.

Is the Goldair GCPAC10 discontinued?
CHOICE labels the model “Discontinued model,” while a Mitre 10 product listing was visible when checked on 7 October 2026. A visible product page does not establish that the unit is in stock or available in your area. Ask the seller to confirm local stock, the exact model code, warranty coverage and what is included before arranging purchase.
Installation and operation
Use the manual supplied with the appliance as the authority for the individual unit. Its instructions call for at least 300mm of clearance around the unit, including above it, and warn against blocking the outlet.

- Allow settling time after transport. If the unit has been transported or was on its side, the manual says to wait two hours before operating it so refrigerant can settle.
- Set it up with clearance. Keep at least 300mm around the unit, including above, and do not obstruct the outlet. Fit the window kit and exhaust duct as described in the manual; confirm the kit suits the window and the unit.
- Select the operating mode. The manual describes cooling, fan and dehumidifying modes. Use the controls and settings shown in the manual for your unit.
- Leave time between changes. The manual says to wait at least three minutes between on/off changes when switching functions.
Drainage, filter care and safety
When the water reservoir fills
The manual says the appliance stops when its reservoir is full and gives instructions for draining it. Follow those model-specific directions; do not assume that a general portable-air-conditioner drainage method applies.
Cleaning the filter
The manual describes removing and washing the filter, then shade-drying it before replacement. Check the supplied manual for the removal and refitting procedure.

The manual warns that the appliance contains flammable R290 gas and states a room floor-area restriction of more than 10m². Follow the manual’s safety requirements and Goldair’s service guidance. Do not attempt DIY refrigerant repair.

The GCPAC10 may be worth considering if you find a correctly identified unit at a suitable local price and can confirm its condition, included window kit and warranty. The public evidence is not enough to establish how well it cools, how much energy it uses, how noisy it is, or what room size it will reliably serve.
