gofccyourself.com Alternatives: What Helps You Reach the Right Public Comment Channel?

gofccyourself.com is documented as a 2017 shortcut to an FCC comment destination during the net-neutrality debate—not as a general-purpose civic platform. A third-party directory’s “alternatives” list mixes political-themed sites and other services, but does not establish that they help users find or file comments in the right agency proceeding. The domain’s current redirect behavior has not been verified, so use the official FCC page for the specific proceeding and confirm its destination and deadline before submitting.

What was gofccyourself.com?

Product Hunt’s launch record describes gofccyourself.com as a way to take users to the FCC page for submitting opinions on Title II. It says the site was popularized by John Oliver on May 7, 2017, amid the net-neutrality debate. Contemporary coverage by VentureBeat and Time connects the destination to the FCC’s “Restoring Internet Freedom” proceeding, number 17-108.

That history explains the domain’s purpose at the time; it does not establish where the site redirects today. A remembered shortcut is not a reliable substitute for checking the current agency page, docket, and submission instructions.

Are the listed alternatives real substitutes?

SaaSHub lists Trump CNN, Executive Order Generator, President Flip Flops, Prank Dial, and ResistBot among gofccyourself.com alternatives. That is a directory grouping, not evidence that these services perform the same task. The list does not establish that any entry currently routes to the relevant FCC proceeding, explains how to comment, or submits a filing on a user’s behalf.

Option or category What the available evidence establishes Fit for finding an FCC comment channel
gofccyourself.com Its 2017 Product Hunt launch description presents it as a shortcut to an FCC Title II comment destination; current redirect behavior is not established. Historical shortcut, but verify the destination independently before using it.
Trump CNN, Executive Order Generator, President Flip Flops, and Prank Dial SaaSHub lists these as alternatives; the listing does not establish their current features or availability. No equivalent FCC docket or comment function is established.
ResistBot SaaSHub includes it in the comparison set; current support for FCC rulemaking comments is unverified. Potentially adjacent civic-engagement service, but not a verified substitute for an FCC proceeding.

Before relying on any third-party service, check four things: whether it serves the task you need, whether it leads to the correct agency and proceeding, whether it offers meaningful submission guidance or only a link, and whether it is currently available for your use case. The directory listing alone answers none of those questions.

How do you reach the right FCC process?

  1. Start with the FCC and identify the specific proceeding or filing type relevant to your issue. Use the agency’s official page rather than assuming an old campaign link still points to the correct place.
  2. Check the proceeding’s current instructions and deadline on the official page. The 2017 instructions reported for proceeding 17-108 are historical, not directions for a current matter.
  3. Confirm that you are filing a public comment in a rulemaking, rather than making a consumer complaint. The FCC’s consumer complaints FAQ describes a separate complaint process; it is not the route for commenting on a rulemaking.
  4. Submit through the destination and process specified for that proceeding, then keep any confirmation or record the official system provides.

Why doesn’t another agency’s comment page work?

Public-comment channels are agency-specific. The Federal Trade Commission’s Public Comments page is for FTC matters, including proposed rulemakings and other agency activities; it is not a general portal for FCC comments. The FTC says public input helps it understand new technologies and business practices, consider different viewpoints, and improve its policy, enforcement, and education work. That rationale for inviting comments does not make one agency’s channel interchangeable with another’s.
