No—Thor is not the main character of the 2027 God of War game. Sony has announced God of War Laufey for PlayStation 5 on February 16, 2027, with Faye (Laufey), Kratos’ deceased wife and Atreus’ mother, as the playable lead. The $1,599 figure belongs to neither the announced game price nor the official price listed for the separate Thor collectible.
Two announcements are being conflated: a new Faye-led game and Prime 1 Studio’s large Thor statue from God of War Ragnarök. Here is what each product actually includes, costs and delivers.

What is confirmed about the 2027 game?
God of War Laufey launches exclusively on PlayStation 5 on February 16, 2027. Santa Monica Studio Communications Director Grace Orlady stated, “God of War Laufey is coming to PlayStation 5 consoles on February 16, 2027.” The official product description identifies Faye as the playable warrior and says the game expands the series by revealing a story that has long remained untold.
The story begins after Faye’s death. She awakens in the Everywhen, an afterlife of the gods, and discovers that plans she made to protect Kratos and Atreus are in danger. Thor is part of Faye’s established history: PlayStation describes her as “A warrior who went toe-to-toe with Thor, and a match for the Ghost of Sparta.” That wording confirms a significant connection, not a Thor-led campaign.

Is Thor the main character?
No. The announced protagonist is Faye. The available official information does not identify Thor as a playable lead, co-lead or central viewpoint character in God of War Laufey. Thor’s role in the 2027 game remains unspecified beyond his place in Faye’s backstory.

What comes with the God of War Laufey Collector Box?

- An eight-inch light-up Faye statue featuring Phranque and Rue
- A 51-card oracle deck with illustrations by Megan Lara
- A physical mini artbook
The box is a game-related collector package, not the large Thor statue and not a replacement for a game edition. The announcement does not state that a game disc or digital game code is included, so buyers should treat it as an accessory package unless the final regional listing says otherwise.

Is the Thor statue really $1,599?
The official manufacturer release does not list a $1,599 price. Its stated Japanese price is ¥325,490（税込）. A dollar amount shown by a reseller, currency converter or social-media post may reflect an exchange-rate calculation, regional taxes, shipping or a seller’s markup, but the supplied official announcement does not verify $1,599. The statue’s price should therefore be quoted in the published yen amount unless an authorized regional listing provides a separate price.

How the two announcements fit together
The game and statue share the God of War universe but answer different buyer needs. God of War Laufey is interactive software for PS5, with a February 16, 2027 launch and a confirmed Standard Edition that can be purchased physically. The Thor DX Bonus is a 1/3-scale, 57-kilogram display piece tied to the earlier God of War Ragnarök portrayal of Thor, with delivery estimated between November 2026 and February 2027.
