General Motors’ U.S. deliveries fell 5.5% year over year to 670,974 vehicles in the third quarter of 2026. Toyota Motor North America (TMNA), which combines Toyota and Lexus, delivered 633,223 vehicles, up 0.6%. Toyota also reported a 28.5% rise in sales of its broader “electrified” category, but its results release does not break out how much came from hybrids versus other powertrains.

GM’s October 1 release attributed its Q3 decline to “the much smaller EV market and discontinued vehicles.” The company did not quantify how much either factor contributed, so the statement is GM’s explanation rather than an independently measured breakdown.

There is a small difference between GM’s headline figures: its official delivery table shows a 5.5% decrease, while the release narrative rounds the decline to 6%. The table’s more precise figure is used for the comparison above. GM’s release.
What Toyota means by “electrified” sales
TMNA reported 363,367 electrified vehicle sales in Q3, up 28.5% year over year and equal to 57.4% of its total sales. That is the company’s combined electrified category, not a hybrid-only figure. The release does not provide a breakdown sufficient to identify how much of the increase came from hybrids versus other powertrains, or to establish that any one powertrain caused Toyota’s overall sales gain.

What company executives said
GM North America President Duncan Aldred said the company’s next-generation full-size pickup launches were on track and cited investments in vehicles, technology and U.S. manufacturing as part of its growth plans.
