Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →On 4 March 2026, Europol announced the disruption of Tycoon 2FA, a subscription phishing-as-a-service platform that intercepted live authentication sessions. Authorities took down 330 domains used for phishing pages and control panels. Europol says the service sent tens of millions of phishing emails each month and enabled unauthorised access to nearly 100,000 organisations worldwide.
What Tycoon 2FA was
Tycoon 2FA was not simply a downloadable phishing template. It was an operating service that criminals could subscribe to and use in campaigns against organisations and their users. Its defining function was the interception of live, authenticated web sessions.

That distinction matters because many accounts require a second factor such as a one-time code after a password is entered. A live-session attack attempts to capture the authenticated session itself while a victim is signing in. If the attacker obtains a usable session token, the criminal may be able to enter the account without needing to repeat the one-time-code step.

What authorities disrupted in 2026
- 330 domains: Europol says these formed the platform’s core infrastructure, including phishing pages and control panels.
- Tens of millions of phishing emails each month: the reported volume illustrates how a criminal service can industrialise campaigns for many customers at once.
- Nearly 100,000 organisations globally: the reported victims included schools, hospitals and public institutions.
The action was coordinated through Europol’s European Cybercrime Centre (EC3). Europol said the investigation began with intelligence from Trend Micro and was expanded through its Cyber Intelligence Extension Programme, which connected Microsoft, Trend Micro and law-enforcement authorities. Authorities identified in the announcement included agencies in Latvia, Lithuania, Portugal, Poland, Spain and the United Kingdom.
Taking down the domains removed central pieces of the service’s delivery and administration layer. That disrupts operators who depended on the hosted pages and panels, although a domain seizure does not by itself prove that every individual account, device or criminal behind a campaign has been identified.

How phishing can defeat MFA in practice
Multi-factor authentication still blocks many password-only attacks, but it is not a guarantee against every phishing technique. A conventional fake login page may capture a username, password and one-time code. A real-time proxy or similar service can go further by relaying the victim’s interaction to the legitimate site and passing the resulting authenticated session to the attacker.

Organisations should consider phishing-resistant authentication, such as cryptographic security keys or passkeys where supported, because these methods bind authentication to the legitimate site rather than allowing a phished code to be replayed. They should also monitor for suspicious session use and be prepared to revoke active sessions and tokens quickly.

What LabHost shows about the same criminal economy
Tycoon 2FA follows Europol’s April 2024 disruption of LabHost, another phishing-as-a-service platform. LabHost demonstrates how the model had already matured into a subscription business with hosted infrastructure, customer management and real-time campaign controls.
| Measure | Tycoon 2FA (2026) | LabHost (2024) |
|---|---|---|
| Technical method | Interception of live authentication sessions, including sessions protected by additional security layers | Phishing kits, hosted pages, victim-engagement features and campaign management, including capture of credentials and two-factor codes |
| Infrastructure scale | 330 core domains taken down | At least 40,000 linked phishing domains identified |
| Reported reach | Nearly 100,000 organisations globally | About 10,000 users worldwide |
| Commercial model | Subscription service; Europol did not state a price in its 2026 announcement | Average monthly fee of $249, according to Europol’s 2024 account |
| Features | Live-session interception and control panels | More than 170 impersonated websites and the LabRat real-time monitoring tool |
| Enforcement result | Core domains were taken down and the service was disrupted | Searches at 70 addresses and 37 arrests; Europol said the platform was shut down |
| Cooperation | EC3, the CIEP programme, Microsoft, Trend Micro and authorities in six named countries | Law enforcement from 19 countries, with Europol support including its Joint Cybercrime Action Taskforce |
How the LabHost operation unfolded
Europol said the LabHost investigation lasted a year. Between 14 and 17 April 2024, authorities searched 70 addresses and arrested 37 people, including four people in the United Kingdom linked to operating the service and its original developer.

LabHost customers could select from a menu of more than 170 fake websites impersonating financial institutions, postal services and telecommunications providers. Investigators linked at least 40,000 phishing domains to the platform and identified about 10,000 users worldwide. Its LabRat tool let operators watch attacks in real time and capture credentials and two-factor authentication codes. Europol said that integrated campaign-management function was what made LabHost particularly destructive.
What organisations should do after a takedown
- Revoke active sessions: invalidate refresh tokens, sign-in cookies and other persistent sessions for accounts that may have been exposed.
- Reset credentials selectively and quickly: prioritise privileged, administrative and externally accessible accounts, then investigate related password reuse.
- Review authentication logs: look for unusual locations, impossible travel, unfamiliar devices, new mailbox rules and sign-ins immediately following a phishing event.
- Adopt phishing-resistant methods: use passkeys or hardware-backed security keys where the organisation’s identity platform supports them, and reduce dependence on phishable one-time codes.
- Monitor domains and takedown signals: watch for look-alike domains, newly registered infrastructure and reports from employees, customers or security providers.
- Train users around session theft: explain that an unexpected login prompt, urgent message or unfamiliar approval request can be part of a real-time relay attack, even when MFA is enabled.
- Preserve evidence: retain relevant email headers, browser alerts, authentication logs and endpoint data so investigators can connect incidents to wider campaigns.
A platform takedown reduces access to shared criminal infrastructure, but organisations must still assume that previously stolen credentials or sessions could remain useful until they are revoked. The strongest response combines phishing-resistant authentication, short-lived and protected sessions, rapid incident response, domain monitoring and user reporting.
