The Gigaset GS6 Pro is a credible Fairphone 6 alternative if your priorities are a removable battery, IP68 protection and wireless charging. It is not the more repairable or more transparent choice: Notebookcheck says Fairphone offers more granular modular repairs and clearer information about supply chains and recycled materials. The GS6 Pro also has notable performance and camera compromises, so the better fit depends on which trade-offs matter most.
What sets the Gigaset GS6 Pro apart?
The GS6 Pro combines a removable 5,300 mAh battery with an IP68-rated chassis and wireless charging. Notebookcheck describes that combination as a distinctive selling point in the mid-range segment. It also has a glass back and supports microSD expansion.

Those features address different needs: the removable battery can be changed without replacing the phone, IP68 is the phone’s stated dust- and water-resistance rating, and wireless charging offers an alternative to plugging in a cable. A removable battery, however, does not by itself make every repair easier. The Fairphone comparison is about the breadth and accessibility of repairs, not just battery access.

How do the phones compare on repairability and sourcing?
Battery replacement and modular repairs
The GS6 Pro’s clearest repair-related advantage is its removable battery. Fairphone’s approach is more modular: Notebookcheck says owners can order and replace individual parts such as the display, camera and charging port. That gives Fairphone an advantage when a component other than the battery needs attention.
#1 Best Overall
- [Compatibility] Specifically designed to fit and protect Fairphone 6 (2025) & Fairphone 6 Plus+ (2026) Only.
- [Dual Layer Protection] Certified with ToughRhino Technology, fusing a flexible shock-absorbing TPU inner layer to a heavy-duty PC back shell for reliable drop protection.
- [Raised Edge Protection] Elevated bezels safeguard your camera and screen from accidental damage.
- [Enhanced Grip] Non-slip textured ridges along both side borders and back panel provide a confident hold, significantly reducing accidental hand slips while texting or snapping photos.
- [Seamless Access] Precise cutouts and responsive buttons ensure easy access and smooth everyday use.
German production versus supply-chain transparency
Notebookcheck reports that the GS6 Pro is developed and produced in Germany, but its components are not sourced exclusively from Germany or Europe. Regional production should not be read as proof of an entirely European supply chain. In this comparison, Fairphone stands out for disclosing supply-chain information and emphasizing recycled materials.
What are the GS6 Pro’s main compromises?
Performance and cameras
Notebookcheck found the chipset slow, with recurring stutters, and judged the cameras weak compared with competing phones. The main camera is specified at 64 MP and lacks optical image stabilization; the megapixel figure alone does not establish image quality. These are review findings from Notebookcheck’s tested unit and conditions, not a guarantee that every user will experience the same results.

Display
Notebookcheck criticized the display’s color calibration. It measured 485 Hz PWM flicker, which some flicker-sensitive users may notice. The review reported a 922 cd/m² HDR peak; its detailed measurements also list 810 cd/m² as the center maximum, so those figures refer to different measurement contexts.

Notebookcheck reported a Gigaset promise of seven years of Android updates, alongside only two major Android-version upgrades, ending at Android 17. In the review period, its test device ran Android 15 with May 2026 security patches. These details describe the promise and software state reported in the August 2026 review; they are not a fresh check of the phone’s current update status.

Which phone should you choose?

| Removable battery, IP68 rating and wireless charging | Gigaset GS6 Pro | Notebookcheck identifies this combination as the phone’s distinctive hardware strength. |
| Replacing individual components | Fairphone 6 | Notebookcheck says display, camera and charging-port modules can be ordered and replaced. |
| Supply-chain and recycled-material information | Fairphone 6 | Fairphone is highlighted for disclosing supply-chain information and focusing on recycled materials. |
| Strong performance or camera capability | Neither is established as the winner here | The available GS6 Pro review criticizes its performance and cameras, but does not establish a direct comparative test against Fairphone 6. |
Choose the GS6 Pro if battery access and its combination of durability rating and wireless charging matter more to you than modular repairs, camera quality or smooth performance. Choose Fairphone if repair options beyond the battery and sourcing transparency are central to your decision. The available comparison does not support calling either phone universally better.
