Gigabyte Says New Intel LGA1700 CPUs Are Coming in Early 2027, With DDR4 Boards Included

Gigabyte says upcoming Intel processors are expected in early 2027 and will use the existing LGA1700 socket. The company says BIOS support is coming across its B760 and H610 motherboard lineups, including both DDR4 and DDR5 versions. That makes a new LGA1700 release plausible for people hoping to reuse a compatible system, but it does not yet establish which CPUs will launch, their performance, or whether a particular motherboard will support them.

What Gigabyte has actually announced

In an announcement dated October 9, 2026, Gigabyte said it will provide BIOS support for upcoming Intel processors on LGA1700 across its B760 and H610 motherboard lineups. Gigabyte expects the processors in early 2027 and says both DDR4 and DDR5 board variants are covered. Read Gigabyte’s announcement.

The practical implication is limited but useful: LGA1700 is not necessarily finished as a platform, and some existing boards may be eligible for an update. Gigabyte has not named the processors or published their specifications in this announcement. Support still depends on the exact board model and its available BIOS; sharing a socket does not by itself guarantee CPU compatibility.

Is “Raptor Lake Next” the name of the new CPUs?

Not confirmed. Tom’s Hardware reported in June 2026 that Intel might be preparing a further Raptor Lake refresh called “Raptor Lake Next,” with a first-half 2027 timeframe. The report said Intel declined to comment and that specifications were unknown. Gigabyte’s October announcement lends support to the broader prospect of unnamed LGA1700 processors in early 2027, but it does not confirm that rumored name or the reported product details. • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Intel has separately signaled interest in continuing older platforms and memory support. At Computex 2026, Intel Senior Director of Product Management Nish Neelalojanan told Tom’s Hardware: “We do have products that support DDR4 on both desktop and mobile. Raptor Lake, we’re not end-of-life-ing any of them; they’re there. We’ll continue to make sure that there are products which can take care of older memory technologies if they’re available and cheap.” This is a general statement about Intel’s portfolio, not confirmation of a particular upcoming CPU. What this means if you already own a DDR4 system

A DDR4 LGA1700 motherboard could make memory reuse possible if Gigabyte lists your exact board as compatible and releases a BIOS that supports the new processor. DDR4 and DDR5 boards are separate variants: you cannot put DDR4 memory into a DDR5 board, or DDR5 memory into a DDR4 board. Check the motherboard’s printed model name and revision, then verify both the CPU support list and the required BIOS version on that model’s support page before buying or installing a processor.

  1. Identify the exact motherboard. Use the model and revision printed on the board or shown in your system information; do not rely on “B760” or “H610” alone.
  2. Check CPU support and BIOS requirements. Look for the specific processor in the board’s official CPU support list and note the minimum BIOS version. Gigabyte’s announcement describes lineup-level support plans, not a guarantee for every model or a substitute for a model-specific list.
  3. Confirm the memory type. Verify whether the board is the DDR4 or DDR5 version and match it to the installed DIMMs and any memory you plan to reuse.
  4. Update only as directed by the board maker. Follow the instructions for that model and install the required BIOS before changing CPUs if the manufacturer’s guidance calls for it. Do not assume an update is available before the CPU launch.

Tom’s Hardware’s reporting on the renewed DDR4 market suggests many refreshed kits may top out around DDR4-3600, partly because some premium DDR4 dies are no longer being produced. That is an expectation about many revamped kits, not a universal limit on DDR4 or a specification for the unnamed Intel processors. Read the outlet’s reporting on DDR4 production and demand.

Why DDR4 is attracting renewed interest

Tom’s Hardware reported that motherboard makers and memory-module manufacturers were seeing increased demand for DDR4 platforms and adjusting production plans amid memory shortages. The outlet said it spoke with over half a dozen sources overall and reported that at least two motherboard vendors planned to increase DDR4 motherboard production for the second half of 2026 and into 2027. These are industry-source reports, not a representative market census.

The potential appeal is straightforward: people with usable DDR4 memory may be able to avoid replacing it when refreshing a compatible platform. But rising demand and renewed production do not prove DDR4 is cheaper for every buyer today. The reporting does not establish a current, market-wide DDR4-versus-DDR5 price difference, and total cost depends on local prices for memory, motherboard, and CPU together.

Intel VP Robert Hallock also described Raptor Lake as a continuing part of Intel’s portfolio and LGA1700 as a socket with ongoing interest. In an August 2026 interview, he said: “Going forward, 10nm products like Raptor Lake; that is a core part of the portfolio that I want to offer to people for years to come,” and added that many people remained interested in DDR4. This is a broad portfolio comment, not a launch confirmation or a promise about pricing. Read Tom’s Hardware’s interview with Hallock.

How to judge a DDR4 or DDR5 upgrade

Do not choose a platform based only on whether you can reuse memory. Compare the complete system and the work you need it to do:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Total platform cost: compare CPU, motherboard, and memory at current prices in your market. No reliable current price basket establishes a general DDR4 saving.
  • Compatibility: confirm the exact CPU, motherboard model and revision, BIOS version, and memory type. A socket match alone is not enough.
  • Performance: wait for independent benchmarks of the actual processors and board configurations. No performance comparison for these unnamed CPUs is available from Gigabyte’s announcement.
  • Upgrade path: consider whether reusing DDR4 is worth the trade-off against the memory and motherboard options you would choose for a later upgrade.

Until Intel identifies the processors and board makers publish model-specific support details, the sound conclusion is that Gigabyte is preparing DDR4 and DDR5 LGA1700 boards for an early-2027 Intel CPU release—not that every LGA1700 system will accept it or that DDR4 will necessarily cost less.
