Ghost of Yōtei: Echoes of Sekigahara is worth playing if you want more of Atsu’s story. GamingBolt reviewer Ravi Sinha scored the PS5 expansion 8/10, praising its emotional account of Atsu and Nagato and its compact new area, Ashoro Foothills. Its combat additions are modest, and its separate survival mode offers replayable fights rather than a major shift in how the game plays.
What does Echoes of Sekigahara add?
The expansion follows Atsu after she has made progress in the base game. Information about a bounty brings her back into contact with Nagato, a figure from her past. The story moves between the present and flashbacks, including the Battle of Sekigahara, and gives more context to Atsu’s history.

Sinha’s review finds Nagato’s arc involving and the bond between the two characters emotionally effective. He would have liked more time devoted to their earlier meeting, and considers some of the plot setup and the finale predictable. The story is the expansion’s strongest reason to return, though it is not without familiar narrative turns.

Ashoro Foothills is a new, relatively compact part of Ezo. It has points of interest and clues to follow, residents living under pressure from the Vipers, new enemy types, and a new mythic tale. The official announcement describes the Vipers as poachers who have devastated the area. Sinha’s review characterizes the region as small but dense with discoveries and stories.

Combat additions
Heavy weapons found in the environment can deliver unblockable attacks, but break after use. Skills can extend their durability or add an attack. Arrows lodged in Atsu also create a tactical risk: they prevent her from using Spirit until she removes them, leaving her exposed. She can catch and return arrows as well.
These mechanics add decisions to individual fights, but the review describes the wider combat and exploration as largely familiar rather than redesigned.

Is Most Wanted worth playing?
Most Wanted is a separate, single-player survival mode with a roguelite structure. You choose a character, accept a bounty, fight waves of enemies, select upgrades, and eventually confront a member of the Yōtei Six. PlayStation’s announcement says the mode has four playable characters and bounties that escalate in difficulty. Andrew Goldfarb, Senior Communications Manager at Sucker Punch Productions, called it “our spin on a roguelike.”

He is less persuaded by its build-crafting: weapon alignment can make it more practical to counter the enemies in front of you than to commit to a particular build. That tension may matter if you are seeking deep upgrade experimentation, but it does not erase the appeal of repeatable combat.

The expansion’s story and Most Wanted serve different purposes: one adds narrative and a place to explore, while the other supplies repeatable fights. The official announcement and product page establish that both are included in the Complete Edition; the quality judgments here reflect Sinha’s review, not a separate hands-on assessment.

PlayStation lists Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition for PS5 and includes Echoes of Sekigahara, Most Wanted, Ghost of Yōtei Legends, and listed in-game extras. The store page says downloading the content requires an internet connection and a PlayStation account. PlayStation announced a global release date of October 1, 2026, with October 2 availability in some territories, including Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. Those dates have passed; confirm current access and regional availability for your territory on the official PlayStation Store.
