The two additions serve different appetites: Echoes develops Atsu’s story, while Most Wanted is built for repeatable, escalating fights. PlayStation’s feature descriptions establish what they contain, but not which is more enjoyable—that verdict requires playing them.
What comes with Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition?
The US PlayStation Store listing describes the Complete Edition as a PS5 package containing the base game, Ghost of Yōtei Legends, Echoes of Sekigahara, Most Wanted, and these extras: an in-game mask, Charm of Hokkyokusei, Snake Armor, a Digital Deluxe armor dye and horse and saddle, a sword kit, Traveler’s Maps early unlock, and Charm of Amaterasu. See the US PlayStation Store listing for its listed contents; availability and the live listing can vary by region.

The store listing said Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted would arrive through patch 2.0 on October 1, 2026 globally, and October 2 in some territories, including Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. Those dates have passed, but the announcement alone does not establish the patch’s current availability in every region.

What does Echoes of Sekigahara add?
PlayStation describes Echoes as a narrative expansion that returns to Atsu’s past. It adds an area of Ezo associated with the Vipers and The Snake, a present-day plot involving Nagato, and flashbacks to Atsu’s time on the mainland and the Battle of Sekigahara. The announcement also names new enemies, heavy weapons, armor, dyes, and other items. These are publisher descriptions; they do not establish the expansion’s length or how well its story fits into the campaign.
#1 Best Overall
- Stunning graphics and gameplay, explore the wild and striking lands around Mount Yotei on foot or horseback. Travel picturesque parts of northern Japan through grasslands, snowy ridges, fields of wildflowers, and more.
- Discover renegade combat, engage in lawless katana combat and battles with adversaires. Train with various sensei as you find and learn to use each new weapon.
- An unconventional story and journey, take in the cultural beauty of Japan, bathe in an onsen, visit shrines to pray, try Sumi-e painting, and so much more.
- Choose your weapon, battle Atsu's opponents as you see fit, with levelled-up dual katanas, odachi, kusarigama and other new weapons.
For players most interested in Atsu’s character and the game’s narrative, Echoes is the more directly story-focused addition. Its setting and flashbacks broaden the material around her past, rather than promising the repeated combat loop that defines Most Wanted.
How does Most Wanted mode work?
Most Wanted is a single-player roguelike mode, not the co-op Legends mode. Players select bounties featuring members of the Yōtei Six, fight enemy waves and minibosses, and face progressively harder challenges. Runs earn Mon, which can be spent between attempts on techniques, weapon upgrades, charms, and characters. The bounties culminate in the hardest challenge, a fight against Lord Saitō, according to PlayStation’s Most Wanted feature page.

The mode has four playable characters: Atsu, Oyuki, Nagato, and Jin. Each brings a katana alongside additional weapons and abilities. PlayStation’s announcement specifically highlights Atsu’s dual katana and Ghost Tools, and Oyuki’s kusarigama, kunai, and tanegashima. Cosmetics earned in Most Wanted can also be unlocked in the main game.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThat structure makes Most Wanted the addition with the clearest replay loop: fight, earn Mon, improve a character or equipment, and try a more difficult bounty. Whether that loop is more compelling than the story expansion is a matter of taste, not something the official feature descriptions can settle.

Echoes of Sekigahara versus Most Wanted
| Feature | Echoes of Sekigahara | Most Wanted |
|---|---|---|
| Main focus | Atsu’s past, flashbacks, and a present-day plot involving Nagato | Single-player bounty combat and character progression |
| Structure | Narrative expansion in a new area of Ezo | Replayable runs with enemy waves, minibosses, and escalating difficulty |
| New material described by PlayStation | New enemies, heavy weapons, armor, dyes, and other items | Four playable characters, upgrades between runs, and cosmetics that can unlock in the main game |
| Best fit | Players looking for more story and context for Atsu | Players drawn to repeatable combat, upgrades, and rising challenges |
The two additions are complementary rather than interchangeable. Echoes is the narrative choice; Most Wanted is the replayable combat choice. The available official descriptions do not provide measured playtime or independent quality assessments, so they cannot support a firm claim that one is better overall.

If you already own the base game, the Complete Edition is not the only route described by PlayStation. Its September 3, 2026 developer post said existing owners could upgrade digitally. At the time of that post, the US digital upgrade price was $14.99; the same post listed the US digital Complete Edition at $69.99. These are historical US prices, not guaranteed current prices. The Complete Edition listing includes the base game and its named extras, while the upgrade is intended for existing owners. Compare the current upgrade offer with the full edition before purchasing; the physical-edition contents and retailer stock were not established by the cited announcements. The Sakai Armor early-unlock offer was stated to end September 30, 2026, so it should not be treated as a current inclusion.
