Echoes of Sekigahara story expansion
Echoes of Sekigahara expands Atsu’s story by moving between her present-day journey and flashbacks to her time on the mainland. The expansion introduces Nagato, a new valley once occupied by the Vipers, and explores the Battle of Sekigahara as part of Atsu’s past. Sucker Punch describes new enemies, heavy weapons, armor sets, and armor dyes as part of the expansion’s progression and combat additions.
#1 Best Overall
- Stunning graphics and gameplay, explore the wild and striking lands around Mount Yotei on foot or horseback. Travel picturesque parts of northern Japan through grasslands, snowy ridges, fields of wildflowers, and more.
- Discover renegade combat, engage in lawless katana combat and battles with adversaires. Train with various sensei as you find and learn to use each new weapon.
- An unconventional story and journey, take in the cultural beauty of Japan, bathe in an onsen, visit shrines to pray, try Sumi-e painting, and so much more.
- Choose your weapon, battle Atsu's opponents as you see fit, with levelled-up dual katanas, odachi, kusarigama and other new weapons.
Most Wanted combat-survival mode
Most Wanted is a standalone single-player mode built around bounty runs. You accept a bounty to begin, defeat enemies to earn perks, and unlock additional playable characters as you progress. It is designed for repeatable combat runs rather than a second linear story campaign, so it gives the Complete Edition a different type of endgame activity from the main narrative and Echoes expansion.
Legends online co-op
Ghost of Yōtei Legends supports groups of up to four players online. Its available activities are Survival, Story, and Incursion. Legends is included with the Complete Edition, but access to online play still depends on a PlayStation account, an internet connection, and a separately sold PlayStation Plus subscription.
When did the Complete Edition and its new content release?
The Complete Edition launched on October 1, 2026. Sucker Punch’s release announcement says the v2.0 material—Echoes of Sekigahara, Most Wanted, and associated quality-of-life updates—arrived on October 1 globally, with the patch listed as October 2 in some Asian, Australian, and New Zealand territories. The one-day difference reflects regional release timing, not a different content lineup.

- Discover a bold, new story of a warrior in Japan who is on her own mission of vengeance.
- Set 300 years after the critically acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei is a standalone experience set in 1600s rural Japan. The story follows a haunted, lone mercenary named Atsu. Thirsty for revenge, she travels through the beautiful, rugged landscapes of northern Japan, hunting those who killed her family many years earlier.
- Sixteen years after her family’s death, Atsu’s quest across Ezo brings her to unexplored lands in search of a gang of six outlaws, but she finds much more than vengeance. Throughout her journey, Atsu will discover unlikely allies, and greater bonds than she could have imagined.
What was the September 30 pre-order offer?
PlayStation’s announcement said that customers who pre-ordered by September 30, 2026 immediately unlocked the Digital Deluxe content and Charm of Hokkyokusei if they did not already own them. Those pre-orders also received an early unlock for Sakai Armor on October 1. Because the deadline was September 30, this was a launch pre-order promotion rather than a standing benefit for purchases made after release; the announcement does not establish that the offer remains available after that date.
Which console supports Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition?
The Complete Edition is a PlayStation 5 product and supports the more powerful PS5 Pro. Sony’s official FAQ says Ghost of Yōtei is not available on PS4 and launches exclusively on PlayStation 5. The reviewed official materials do not announce a PC version, so you should not assume a PC release or a PS4 upgrade path.
| Platform | Complete Edition status | What the official information establishes |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 | Supported | Primary platform for the Complete Edition. |
| PS5 Pro | Supported | The product listing identifies PS5 Pro support. |
| PS4 | Not supported | Sony’s FAQ states that Ghost of Yōtei is not on PS4. |
| PC | Not announced in the reviewed materials | No PC edition is listed by the cited official FAQ or product information. |
How much does it cost, and which purchase makes sense?
Sony Interactive Entertainment lists the Complete Edition at $69.99 in 2026. Existing owners can buy the Complete Edition Upgrade for $14.99. Both figures are the prices stated in the 2026 PlayStation announcement and should be treated as the listed U.S. prices; the announcement does not provide regional equivalents, taxes, or temporary discounts.
| Your situation | Relevant purchase | Listed price | What you receive |
|---|---|---|---|
| You do not own Ghost of Yōtei | Complete Edition | $69.99 | Base game, v2.0 additions, Legends, Digital Deluxe items, and other listed extras. |
| You already own the original game | Complete Edition Upgrade | $14.99 | Access to the Complete Edition additions and included bonus content according to the upgrade listing. |
How the launch editions compare
The original game’s 2025 launch prices provide context but are not current Complete Edition prices. Sony listed the 2025 Standard Edition at a $69.99 MSRP, the Digital Deluxe Edition at a $79.99 MSRP, and the Collector’s Edition at a $249.99 MSRP. Those were the launch MSRPs for the original release and do not establish today’s store prices for old stock or resale copies.

- Battle against over 50 players simultaneously in a massive multiplayer playground.
- Compete in an all-out mass start race—collide, grind, and fight your way to the finish
- Customize your character to show off your style to your friends or show up the competition.
- Bike, ski, snowboard, or wingsuit through a seamless open world in Career mode or multiplayer events.
- Go wild on the heights of iconic US national parks like Yosemite, Zion, and Bryce Canyon.
For a new player, the $69.99 Complete Edition is the direct all-in package. For someone who already owns the base game, the $14.99 upgrade avoids buying the campaign again. The upgrade is therefore the relevant comparison, not a second $69.99 purchase.
Does the free October 1 patch add anything to the standard game?
Yes. The October 1 patch adds several features to owners of the base game even if they do not buy the Complete Edition. The free additions are:
- Beauty of Yōtei.
- New tracks for Watanabe Mode.
- Separate controls for armor appearance and armor statistics, allowing cosmetic choices without changing the selected equipment’s stats.
- A high-contrast accessibility option.
Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted are different: they are the substantial v2.0 content associated with the Complete Edition and its upgrade. The free patch features do not turn the standard edition into the full Complete Edition package, because they do not include the expansion, combat-survival mode, or the complete bonus bundle.

Can you transfer a save from the standard edition?
The official Store description confirms that Ghost of Yōtei supports manual saves: you can create manual save points and return to the game at the point where you saved. However, the official pages reviewed for the Complete Edition do not document a procedure for transferring a standard-edition save into the Complete Edition or for importing progress through the $14.99 upgrade.

- Use darkness and cover to avoid being overwhelmed by the ship's deadly new inhabitants

- Gather materials & schematics for weapon upgrades and suit customizations with buffs
- Harvest DNA material to improve health, toughness and defensive capabilities.Survive an ever changing labyrinth. Each and every expedition into The Persistence will be disorienting and different.Death is just the beginning. Fatal encounters will result in Zimri's consciousness being uploaded into a new cloned body, ready to try again, with any upgraded stats, suits & weapon schematics kept to aid the next attempt to save the ship
That means save transfer remains unresolved in the available official information. Do not assume that a transfer works, that it is automatic, or that deleting the original installation is safe. Keep your existing manual saves and the original game data until PlayStation publishes explicit support instructions. The existence of manual saves describes how saving works in the game; it is not confirmation of cross-edition migration.
What does Legends require for multiplayer?
Legends is online-only co-op for as many as four players. To use its Survival, Story, or Incursion activities, you need all of the following:
- A PlayStation account.
- An active internet connection.
- A separately sold PlayStation Plus subscription for online multiplayer.
The Complete Edition includes the Legends mode itself, but it does not waive PlayStation Plus requirements. A player who only wants the solo campaign, Echoes of Sekigahara, or Most Wanted does not need to use Legends; the Plus requirement applies to the online multiplayer component.

Which extras are cosmetic, and which add gameplay?
The Complete Edition mixes story content, repeatable modes, equipment, and cosmetic items. Echoes of Sekigahara adds narrative material, enemies, weapons, armor sets, and dyes. Most Wanted changes the activity structure by using bounty-based runs, perk rewards, and unlockable characters. Legends supplies the multiplayer modes.
Best Value
- Beyond war, ancient beauty endures: Roam vast countryside and expansive terrain to encounter rich characters, discover ancient landmarks and uncover the hidden beauty of Tsushima.
- The rise of the Ghost: Seek support from old friends and new unlikely allies to reclaim Tsushima.
- Mud, Blood and steel: challenge opponents with your katana for an immersive Samurai combat experience.
- Become legends together: play with friends or via online matchmaking in a series of two-player story missions or four-player wave-based survival missions in the legends online co-op
- A whole new island to explore: Travel to Iki Island to investigate rumors of a Mongol presence in a brand-new story with deeply personal stakes.
The Digital Deluxe Armor Dye, Digital Deluxe Horse and Saddle, Sword Kit, mask, photo-mode stamps, New Game Plus cosmetics, and the listed charms primarily expand appearance, collection, or progression options. Snake Armor is included as a named equipment item, while Traveler’s Maps is an early-unlock bonus. Charm of Amaterasu is also part of the package. The source material does not assign a separate cash value to each item, so they should be evaluated as bundled extras rather than individually priced products.
Is the Complete Edition worth buying if you already own the game?
The upgrade is most useful for owners who want Echoes of Sekigahara, Most Wanted, and the bundled extras for the stated $14.99. It also consolidates the Complete Edition content without requiring a second purchase of the base campaign.
Owners who only want the free October 1 features can remain on the standard edition, because Beauty of Yōtei, Watanabe Mode tracks, armor appearance/stat separation, and the high-contrast option are available without the upgrade. Players who do not use online co-op may place less value on Legends, while players seeking additional solo combat have a direct reason to choose Most Wanted. The decision therefore depends on whether the expansion, survival mode, and bundled items justify $14.99 for your play style; the free patch alone does not require that payment.
What should you check before buying?
- Confirm your platform. The product is for PS5 and PS5 Pro, not PS4. No PC version is established in the cited official information.
- Check your ownership status. New players need the $69.99 Complete Edition; existing owners should look for the $14.99 Complete Edition Upgrade.
- Separate free and paid content. The October 1 quality-of-life and accessibility features are free to base-game owners, while Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted are the major Complete Edition additions.
- Plan for online costs. Legends requires a PlayStation account, internet access, and PlayStation Plus.
- Protect your saves. Manual saving is supported, but no official standard-to-Complete transfer procedure is documented in the reviewed pages.
- Treat the pre-order bonuses as time-limited. The announced September 30 deadline has passed; do not assume Sakai Armor early access or automatic Digital Deluxe unlocks still apply to a post-launch purchase.
Bottom line for new and returning players
Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition is the PS5-focused package for players who want the 2025 base game together with the Echoes of Sekigahara expansion, Most Wanted solo mode, Legends co-op, Digital Deluxe items, and additional cosmetics and trophies. New buyers pay the listed $69.99, while existing owners have a $14.99 upgrade route. The base game’s free October 1 patch covers several quality-of-life and accessibility improvements, but it does not replace the paid expansion and combat-survival content. Save-transfer behavior is not documented officially, so preserve your current saves until PlayStation provides a confirmed migration method.
