If Disney Dreamlight Valley does not mark Ghost Hunt complete after you photograph the ghosts, first look for the orange Haunted Floating Festival Pouch in the main Valley. The event requires 10 ghost photographs, but a known bug can place the pouch in a random biome instead of the haunted house. Pick it up and open it from your Inventory; community reports say that opening the pouch often makes the event register.
If you cannot find the pouch, restart the game, confirm it is updated, and then use Gameloft’s issue trackers or support form with your platform and game version.

What the Ghost Hunt puzzle is supposed to do
Ghost Hunt is a limited-time Haunted Floating Festival activity. You enter the haunted house and use the in-game phone camera to photograph ghosts. The objective is 10 ghosts, not an unlimited number of photographs or a particular camera setting.
The completion condition
Search every room of the haunted house and photograph each ghost you find. Include the cellar and any side rooms; a missed ghost in one of those areas can leave the objective genuinely unfinished. The tenth qualifying photograph is the event’s completion point.
#1 Best Overall
What you should receive
After the tenth photograph, a Haunted Floating Festival Pouch should appear. Opening that pouch awards the Ghost furniture item. The pouch is therefore both the visible reward container and the practical handoff between the camera objective and the reward claim.
Why the puzzle can look incomplete after the tenth photograph
A reward-location bug can move the pouch out of the mansion
A documented event bug can spawn the Haunted Floating Festival Pouch somewhere in the main Dreamlight Valley rather than inside the haunted house. It may be placed in any biome. When that happens, the camera objective may already have counted all 10 photographs even though the pouch is not visible where you expect it.
Player reports describe the same pattern
Contemporaneous players have reported photographing every ghost, hearing a completion sound or seeing the camera interaction disappear, and then finding no reward inside the mansion. Reports place the pouch in Frosted Heights, the Forest of Valor, Sunlit Plateau, the Plaza, and near the player’s house. Some players say the event changed to completed only after they picked up and opened the pouch. These are community observations, so they describe a useful workaround rather than a guaranteed sequence for every account.
Do not confuse a missing pouch with a missed ghost
There are two different failure states:
- Fewer than 10 ghosts were photographed: the objective is still waiting for one or more photographs. Recheck every room, including the cellar and side rooms.
- All 10 photographs counted but no pouch is in the house: the reward may have been relocated to the main Valley by the event bug.
The sound or camera behavior can help you decide which branch to follow, but it is not a substitute for checking the full Valley. The reliable first test is whether you completed 10 qualifying photographs and whether a pouch exists somewhere outside the event interior.
Step-by-step fix for a Ghost Hunt completion that is not registering
1. Verify all 10 photographs
- Return to the haunted house during the Haunted Floating Festival event.
- Use the phone camera on every ghost in each room.
- Inspect the cellar and side rooms rather than stopping after the ghosts in the main rooms.
- Count the photographs you have completed. The documented objective is 10 ghosts.
Do not spend time buying a controller, a physical camera, a guide, or a PC utility. The required camera is an in-game interaction, and the reported failure concerns reward placement or progression state.
2. Leave the mansion and search the main Valley
Once you have confirmed the tenth photograph, leave the event area. Search the ordinary Dreamlight Valley biomes for the orange Haunted Floating Festival Pouch. Because the bug can place it in any biome, there is no single correct destination and no reason to limit the search to the haunted house’s surroundings.

Check open ground first, then places where an object can blend into scenery or sit behind another object. Search around your player house and other frequently visited areas before assuming that the reward failed to spawn.
3. Use Furniture Mode to inspect difficult spots
Furniture Mode can provide a higher, more systematic view of the ground. Use it to scan around buildings, landscaping, paths, and other objects that can hide a small pouch from the normal camera angle. Move through the Valley biome by biome and look for the orange container rather than relying on a quest marker.
Furniture Mode is a search aid, not a replacement for the objective. If you have not photographed 10 ghosts, return to the mansion and finish that count before treating the pouch as missing.
4. Pick up the pouch and open it from Inventory
When you find the Haunted Floating Festival Pouch, collect it. Then open your Inventory and use the pouch there. Its contents are the Ghost furniture item.
Picking up the container is not necessarily the final progression action. Community players specifically report that opening the pouch is what caused the puzzle to register as complete on affected saves. If the reward appears in your furniture collection but the event state has not refreshed, leave the current area and check the activity again before moving to the restart steps.

5. Save, restart, and re-enter if the pouch is absent
If a full Valley search does not locate the pouch, use a clean restart rather than repeatedly photographing the same ghosts:

- Save the game normally.
- Return to the title screen.
- Fully close the game, not just suspend it in the background.
- Check that the latest game update for your platform is installed.
- Launch the game again and re-enter the Haunted Floating Festival area.
- Check the haunted house and the main Valley once more for the pouch.
Gameloft’s general quest-registration guidance treats saving, reloading, restarting, and re-entering an area as standard responses when a quest state does not update. A restart cannot guarantee that this event bug is cleared, but it removes a stale session as a possible cause.
Where to look for the pouch
The bug report does not identify one fixed spawn point. The pouch can appear in a random main-Valley biome, so use a repeatable search instead of checking only the last place you visited.
| Search area | Why it belongs in the route | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Frosted Heights | Players have reported finding the pouch there. | Scan open snow, building edges, and obscured ground in Furniture Mode. |
| Forest of Valor | It is another reported location. | Check paths, trees, structures, and spaces behind placed furniture. |
| Sunlit Plateau | Community reports include this biome. | Search around the central area, structures, and your usual travel routes. |
| Plaza | The pouch can appear in a central, heavily decorated biome. | Inspect around buildings and placed objects where the orange pouch may be hidden. |
| Near your house | Several reports mention the player’s house area. | Circle the house and use Furniture Mode to check the ground on all sides. |
| Every other main-Valley biome | The documented bug allows a random main-Valley location, not a single listed biome. | Continue the same scan until every accessible biome has been checked. |
The listed locations are examples from player reports, not a spawn table. Finding nothing in one biome does not disprove the bug; it only means the search must continue.

| What you observe | Most likely state | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| You cannot account for 10 ghost photographs. | The camera objective is incomplete. | Revisit every haunted-house room, including the cellar and side rooms, and photograph the remaining ghosts. |
| You photographed 10 ghosts and heard a completion sound, but the house is empty. | The pouch may have spawned in the main Valley. | Search every biome, including the Plaza, Frosted Heights, Forest of Valor, Sunlit Plateau, and your house area. |
| You found the orange pouch but left it unopened. | The reward has spawned, but the reward claim may be incomplete. | Pick it up, open it from Inventory, and check the event state again. |
| You opened the pouch and received the Ghost furniture item, but the event still looks stale. | The reward was claimed while the progression display failed to refresh. | Save, return to the title screen, fully restart, and re-enter the event. |
| No pouch appears after a complete Valley search and restart. | The event bug may still be affecting the save, or the game may need a current fix. | Check Gameloft’s Known Quest Issues and Known Issues pages, then submit a support ticket if necessary. |
What the Ghost Hunt puzzle does not require
- No external camera: photographs are taken with the game’s phone-camera interaction.
- No special controller: the documented objective and workaround require no controller.
- No PC utility: installing a third-party tool is not part of the fix.
- No purchase to trigger completion: the relevant actions are photographing ghosts, locating the pouch, and opening it.
- No fixed biome assumption: searching only the haunted house or only one Valley biome can miss a pouch relocated by the bug.
These points matter because a missing reward can make the activity look like a hardware or input problem. The reported failure is a reward-location or progression-state problem inside the game.

After you have confirmed 10 photographs, searched the main Valley, opened any pouch you found, and completed a clean restart, check Gameloft’s Known Quest Issues and Known Issues pages. Event bugs can be added, changed, or removed as updates are released, so the current listing is more useful than an old workaround alone.

Frequently misunderstood details
Does photographing the final ghost always make the event display complete immediately?
Not necessarily. The tenth photograph can count while the reward pouch is spawned elsewhere, leaving the visible puzzle state looking unfinished until the pouch is collected and opened.
Is the Ghost furniture item missing if the pouch is not in the mansion?
Not automatically. The pouch is the container for that furniture reward, and the documented bug can move the container into the main Valley. Search there before concluding that the reward was deleted.
Should I keep taking photographs after reaching 10?
No. Once you have verified 10 qualifying photographs, switch to the Valley search and pouch-opening steps. Repeating photographs does not address a misplaced reward container.
Are reported biome locations guaranteed?
No. Frosted Heights, Forest of Valor, Sunlit Plateau, Plaza, and the area near a player’s house are reported examples. The bug is described as random within the main Valley, so none of those places is guaranteed.

Ghost Hunt’s target is 10 ghost photographs. If that count is complete but the haunted house has no reward, treat the missing completion as a pouch-location problem first: search every main-Valley biome, use Furniture Mode around hidden ground, pick up the orange Haunted Floating Festival Pouch, and open it from Inventory. If the pouch is still absent or the reward state remains stuck, save, fully restart and update the game, then consult Gameloft’s current issue pages and provide a detailed support report.
