The claim that Gears of War: E-Day has taken the No. 1 spot on Xbox stores worldwide is unverified: no attributable chart, dated storefront snapshot or ranking metric is available to substantiate it. Xbox has confirmed the game’s October 6, 2026 launch on Xbox Series X|S and PC, but that launch information does not establish a store ranking.
What is known about the No. 1 claim
The claim that Gears of War: E-Day tops Xbox stores around the world needs a source that identifies what was ranked, where, and when. No such source or dated chart snapshot is available. In particular, the claim does not say whether No. 1 refers to paid-game sales, preorders, most-played activity or another measure.

“Across the globe” is also too broad to verify without knowing which national storefronts were included. Xbox store charts can be time-sensitive, and a position may differ by country, platform, subscription status or chart category. A single regional screenshot cannot establish a worldwide result.

A reliable ranking report would need to identify the publisher, observation date, geography and metric, ideally with a link to the live chart or an archived snapshot. Xbox promotional coverage, showcase placement and preorder availability are not substitutes for that evidence.

Confirmed release and access details
Xbox’s official game listing gives October 6, 2026 as the release date and lists Xbox Series X|S and PC. It also says the game is included at launch with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, and supports Xbox Play Anywhere.
Those options create three distinct ways to play: console access on Xbox Series X|S, PC access through a purchase or PC Game Pass, and subscription access through Game Pass Ultimate on the supported Xbox and PC ecosystem. Play Anywhere support is a separate platform benefit from subscription inclusion, so readers should check the account and device requirements shown on the live listing before buying.
Xbox Wire reported on September 17, 2026 that the game had gone gold. That report scheduled preinstallation for September 29, early access for October 1 and the worldwide launch for October 6. Preinstallation means the files can be downloaded ahead of release; it does not mean the game is playable before the applicable access date. These are launch-preparation dates, not evidence of a store-chart position.

Xbox Wire had also said the game would open the June 7, 2026 Xbox Games Showcase, describing it as the first Gears game to lead the show. That is useful franchise and marketing context, but showcase prominence likewise does not confirm a store ranking or sales result.
Related controller and Collector’s Edition
Limited Edition Xbox Wireless Controller
Xbox Wire announced a Gears of War: E-Day Limited Edition Xbox Wireless Controller on August 12, 2026. The announcement said preorders were available at participating retailers worldwide and gave a US preorder price of $89.99.
The $89.99 figure is a stated US preorder price, not a guarantee of today’s price in another country. The announcement does not establish current stock, a current price or availability through any particular retailer, including Amazon. Confirm the retailer’s live listing, shipping region, stock status and return terms before linking to it or describing it as available.
Rank #3
- Disc only. Original case and manual not included. Will come packaged in a generic case.
- This renewed game has been cleaned, tested, and shows minimal wear.
Collector’s Edition
Xbox Wire’s June 8, 2026 announcement described a physical Collector’s Edition, with preorders through the Xbox Game Studios Shop and selected retailers. It also gave October 1 as the early-access date ahead of the October 6 launch.
The announcement supports treating the edition as a fan purchase path, but it does not by itself confirm the current contents, inventory, price or retailer terms. Those details can change, so check the live product page rather than assuming every preorder promise remains unchanged.
How to interpret the headline
- Verified: Xbox lists the October 6, 2026 launch date, Xbox Series X|S and PC platforms, launch inclusion with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, and Xbox Play Anywhere support.
- Verified timing: Xbox Wire reported the game went gold, with preinstall scheduled for September 29, early access on October 1 and worldwide launch on October 6.
- Not verified: The claim of a global No. 1 Xbox store ranking, including its metric, date, geography and store coverage.
- Separate announcements: The limited-edition controller and Collector’s Edition are confirmed products, but neither announcement demonstrates chart performance.
- Buyer checks: Compare platform, subscription access and edition before purchase, and verify current stock and regional pricing on the retailer’s own listing.
