Choose the Garmin Venu 3 if you prefer a round design, want longer stated battery life, or need the ECG app where it is supported. The key trade-off is practical: the X1 adds screen space and outdoor tools, while the Venu 3 is rated to last longer between charges.

Display, design and fit
Venu X1: more room for information
The X1’s 2-inch AMOLED display gives maps, metrics and other information more room than the Venu 3’s 1.4-inch round display. Garmin lists a sapphire lens, titanium caseback and an 8 mm case, and promotes a ComfortFit nylon band. That makes the X1 the more compelling option if screen area and a slim-profile case appeal to you, but comfort and fit are personal; specifications alone cannot establish which watch will feel better on your wrist.
Venu 3: a conventional round watch
The Venu 3 has a round face and a more familiar watch shape. If you prefer that look or do not want a large square display, its smaller screen may be a better match. Garmin also offers the smaller Venu 3S, so shoppers who want a more compact Venu 3-series watch should compare that model separately.

Battery life: Venu 3 has the longer estimate
Garmin rates the Venu X1 for up to 8 days in smartwatch mode, falling to up to 2 days with the always-on display enabled. The Venu 3 series manual lists up to 14 days in smartwatch mode and up to 5 days with always-on display. These are manufacturer-stated maximums, not promises of everyday runtime.
For GPS use, compare like with like: Garmin lists the X1 at up to 16 hours with GPS only and 14 hours with all-systems GNSS, while the Venu 3 manual lists up to 26 hours with GPS only and 20 hours with all-systems GPS. With music, the listed estimates are up to 7 hours for X1 and 11 hours for Venu 3. GPS mode, music playback and other enabled features affect the comparison, so do not treat any one figure as a universal workout runtime.
Rank #2
- Sleek GPS smartwatch with our biggest display — 2” easy-to-read AMOLED — and our thinnest watch case measuring 8 mm with a scratch-resistant sapphire lens, titanium caseback, bright LED flashlight and ComfortFit nylon band for all-day wearability
- Battery performance: up to 8 days in smartwatch mode; up to 16 hours in GPS mode
- Health is wealth; invest in yours with 24/7 health and wellness monitoring with HRV status, advanced sleep tracking, Body Battery energy monitoring, Pulse Ox and more (this is not a medical device, and data presented is intended to be a close estimation of metrics tracked; Pulse Ox not available in all countries)
- Track your passions with more than 100 preloaded indoor and outdoor sports apps, including running, golf and strength training
- Stay connected hands-free: A built-in speaker and mic let you make and take phone calls from your wrist when your watch is paired to your smartphone — and you can even use your smartphone’s voice assistant to respond to text messages and more
If charging less often is a priority, the Venu 3’s longer stated battery life is a meaningful advantage. If the X1’s larger screen, maps or other tools matter more, you are accepting a shorter manufacturer estimate in exchange.

The Venu 3’s navigation is more limited in comparison, according to Android Central’s 2025 comparison. If you normally navigate with your phone and do not expect to use golf or route maps from your wrist, the X1’s mapping advantage may not justify choosing it on its own.

Garmin lists the ECG app for the Venu 3. The app is available only in supported regions and subject to feature requirements, so confirm local availability before treating it as a deciding factor. Garmin’s reviewed X1 product feature list does not include ECG. Both watches offer substantial wellness tracking, but neither should be treated as a medical diagnostic device.
