Choose the Garmin HRM 200 if you use a compatible Garmin watch or Edge and want live heart-rate and HRV data in that setup. Choose the Polar H10 if you need two Bluetooth connections, legacy GymLink support, or a recorded workout without carrying a watch or phone. Both straps support Bluetooth and ANT+. The available evidence does not establish a controlled accuracy winner between these exact models, so the better choice depends on your devices and features—not a proven universal accuracy advantage.
At a glance: what separates the two straps?
| Feature | Garmin HRM 200 | Polar H10 |
|---|---|---|
| Wireless connections | Bluetooth Low Energy and ANT+; Garmin lists up to three concurrent BLE connections and unlimited ANT+ connections in open mode. Garmin product page | Dual Bluetooth and ANT+; the technical manual also lists GymLink 5 kHz for heart rate. Polar technical manual |
| Heart-rate variability | Garmin says it transmits real-time heart rate and HRV data to compatible devices. Garmin product page | The cited H10 specifications describe an electrical heart-rate sensor, but do not establish an equivalent HRV broadcast specification. |
| Workout storage | No onboard workout storage is identified in the cited product information. | Stores one session of up to 30 hours; Polar Beat is used to start the recording and sync it later. Polar H10 product page |
| Battery specification | User-replaceable CR2032; manufacturer estimate is up to one year at one hour of use per day. Garmin manual, version 3, April 2026 | CR2025; Polar specifies up to 400 hours of use. Polar technical manual |
| Water rating | 3 ATM; Garmin defines this as pressure equivalent to a depth of 30 m. Garmin manual, version 3, April 2026 | WR30, as stated by Polar. Polar technical manual |
Those water labels are manufacturer ratings, not a guarantee that either strap is suitable for every aquatic activity. The battery estimates are also not directly comparable: Garmin gives an estimate at a stated daily use rate, while Polar lists operating hours.

Which is better for a Garmin watch or Edge?
The HRM 200 is the more direct fit if your workout is recorded on a compatible Garmin watch or Edge cycling computer. Garmin says the strap sends real-time heart rate and HRV data to compatible Garmin watches, Edge devices, fitness equipment, Tacx Training, and other apps. Its listed support for three simultaneous BLE connections may also help if you want to connect more than one Bluetooth receiver at once.

Check the receiving device’s supported protocols and metrics before buying: a strap can transmit data only in ways the device or app can receive. If your setup needs live HRV, confirm that the specific watch or app accepts it.

When does the Polar H10 make more sense?
You need to record without carrying a phone or watch
The H10 can store one workout session of up to 30 hours. Polar’s workflow uses the Polar Beat app to initiate the stored workout, then sync it later. This is a single-session recording feature, not an unlimited archive or a substitute for checking how your chosen app handles saving and syncing.
Your equipment needs a particular connection
Both straps support ANT+ and Bluetooth. Polar additionally documents GymLink 5 kHz transmission for heart rate, which can matter with compatible older gym equipment. Polar lists dual Bluetooth connections, while Garmin lists up to three concurrent BLE connections for HRM 200. Confirm the connection type supported by your exact watch, computer, gym equipment, or app.

Can either strap be called more accurate?
Not on the evidence available for this comparison. Polar describes H10 as an electrical ECG heart-rate sensor and promotes it for training, but that product description is not a controlled head-to-head result against HRM 200. The information available here does not establish a model-versus-model accuracy winner. Treat testimonials and manufacturer descriptions as such, not as proof of comparative performance.
