If you want a long-battery GPS watch beyond Garmin’s Enduro line, start with the COROS VERTIX 2S for battery-focused tracking or the Suunto Vertical for offline maps and route navigation. Neither is a universal winner: their published runtimes use different satellite modes, and the figures are manufacturer estimates rather than head-to-head test results.
For a fair comparison, match the GPS mode you expect to use, then weigh navigation needs, solar exposure, and any music or backlight use. Those choices can matter more than the largest number on a product page.

Which Garmin Enduro alternative fits your use?
| Watch | Best reason to consider it | Published GPS battery figures | Navigation evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| COROS VERTIX 2S | Battery-focused tracking across several GPS modes | 118 hours standard GPS; 73 hours all systems; 43 hours dual-frequency | The cited sources do not establish offline-map capabilities. |
| Suunto Vertical | Hiking navigation with offline maps and route guidance | Up to 65 hours in multi-band performance mode; up to 90 hours with solar for applicable variants | Offline maps, route navigation, and POI navigation |
| Garmin Enduro 3 | Reference point for comparing Enduro battery modes | Up to 120 hours GPS-only; 80 hours all-satellite; 60 hours all-satellite multi-band; up to 90 hours multi-band with solar under stated conditions | Its manual is the source for the battery figures; the cited Enduro 2 mapping announcement does not establish that Enduro 3 has identical mapping features. |
These are manufacturer-published estimates, not results from a controlled comparison. COROS says actual runtime varies with settings and use. Garmin’s and Suunto’s solar figures also depend on conditions or model variant, so treat them as conditional rather than guaranteed runtimes.

A headline runtime is useful only when you know what the watch is doing to achieve it. Compare the named satellite mode, whether multi-band or dual-frequency positioning is enabled, and any solar assumptions. Music playback, backlight use, connected sensors, notifications, and other settings can also affect battery life.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Garmin Enduro 3 modes
Garmin’s Enduro 3 Owner’s Manual, version 9 (September 2026), lists up to 120 hours in GPS-only mode, 80 hours in all-satellite mode, and 60 hours in all-satellite multi-band mode. The manual gives up to 90 hours for multi-band with solar under its stated conditions. It separately lists up to 320 hours in GPS-only mode with solar, assuming outdoor use in 50,000 lux conditions. That 320-hour figure is for GPS-only positioning, not multi-band tracking. See Garmin’s Enduro 3 battery information.
COROS VERTIX 2S modes
COROS lists 118 hours for standard GPS, 73 hours for all systems, and 43 hours for dual-frequency on the VERTIX 2S. COROS notes that actual battery life varies with settings and use; its Battery Specifications page documents revised estimates following a February 2024 update. Check the VERTIX 2S technical specifications and COROS’s battery specifications and estimate notes.

Suunto Vertical modes
Suunto lists up to 65 hours in multi-band performance mode and up to 90 hours with solar for applicable variants. It also lists up to 500 hours in Tour mode, but that is not equivalent to full-accuracy tracking: Tour mode trades down GPS accuracy and turns heart rate off. See Suunto’s Vertical product information.
For ultrarunning, plan around race duration and tracking mode
For an ultrarun, compare expected race time with the runtime for the positioning mode you intend to use—not just the watch’s longest advertised duration. Decide whether you need dual- or multi-band positioning, and account for music, backlight use, and any time spent stopped at checkpoints. The published figures above do not establish which watch will deliver the best GPS or heart-rate accuracy in a race.

Solar can extend a stated runtime, but it depends on exposure. Garmin’s Enduro 3 manual specifies 50,000 lux for its 320-hour GPS-only solar figure. A shaded course, season, latitude, and how much time the watch is worn outdoors can all make solar estimates less representative of an individual outing.
For long-distance hiking, prioritize maps and route guidance
Suunto documents offline maps plus route and POI navigation for the Vertical, making it the clearly supported option here when those features are central to a hike. Battery life in multi-band performance mode is a more relevant comparison for demanding tracking than the Vertical’s Tour-mode maximum, which comes with reduced GPS accuracy and no heart-rate monitoring.

Garmin’s 2022 Enduro 2 announcement described built-in TopoActive maps and NextFork trail guidance for that model. That is previous-generation evidence, so it should not be treated as proof that the Enduro 3 has identical features. The cited sources do not establish a full current-generation comparison of maps across these watches. Read Garmin’s Enduro 2 announcement.
Check ecosystem fit before choosing
Battery and navigation specifications can narrow the shortlist, but they do not settle whether a watch fits your training setup. The available evidence does not establish a comprehensive comparison of app ecosystems, sensor compatibility, or training analytics. If those are decisive, verify the specific features and accessories you rely on with each manufacturer before buying.
