The Garmin Enduro 4 has a 1.4-inch memory-in-pixel (MIP) display with a solar lens, but its battery life is not literally infinite. Garmin estimates up to 320 hours in activity mode or up to 90 days in smartwatch mode, with both figures dependent on specified sunlight exposure and use. The watch is available now for a suggested retail price of $899.99.
Does the Garmin Enduro 4 have infinite battery life?
No. “Infinite battery life” overstates Garmin’s launch claim. The company publishes two “up to” estimates for solar-assisted use, each tied to particular conditions; neither promises unlimited operation or establishes what every wearer will get. Garmin’s figures are manufacturer estimates, not independent test results.

| Mode | Garmin’s estimate | Conditions specified by Garmin |
|---|---|---|
| Activity mode (extended battery) | Up to 320 hours with solar | Continuous use for the period in 50,000-lux conditions, with activity mode (extended battery) selected. |
| Smartwatch mode | Up to 90 days with solar | All-day wear with three hours per day outdoors in 50,000-lux conditions. |
These estimates apply to different modes and assumptions, so they are not interchangeable. Actual results depend on conditions and use; the launch announcement does not provide an independent measurement of real-world battery life.

What display and hardware does it have?
The Enduro 4 uses a 1.4-inch MIP display paired with a solar lens. Garmin lists a 51 mm case and a weight of 66 g. Its materials and other hardware include a Power Sapphire scratch-resistant lens, titanium bezel and fiber-reinforced polymer case.
#1 Best Overall
- The 1.4” Power Sapphire lens harvests the sun’s energy, giving you more power and time between charges
- AutoSelect mode uses SatIQ technology to dynamically determine the GPS mode necessary to maximize battery life without compromising positional accuracy
- The rugged, lightweight design won’t slow you down, and the light UltraFit nylon band provides a secure, comfortable fit during all of your activities
- Navigation tools help you find your way with preloaded TopoActive and ski maps
- A superbright LED flashlight (twice as bright as the fēnix 7X multisport GPS watch) offers variable intensities with a strobe that matches your running cadence; red safety light mode helps you keep an eye on your immediate surroundings while running at night
- Lighting: integrated white and red LED flashlight.
- Water resistance: 10 ATM.
- Storage: 64 GB of memory.
- Band: ComfortFit fabric band with QuickFit functionality. Garmin’s launch announcement does not establish compatibility with any particular third-party band.
What training and outdoor features are included?
Garmin positions the watch for trail running, multiday hiking and backpacking, and endurance activities. It lists more than 100 activity profiles and multiple power modes, with tools for pacing, stamina, mapping and activity tracking.
Training and pacing
- Grade-adjusted pace targets let runners set workout targets based on effort across hills, rather than treating every slope as equivalent.
- Grade-adjusted rolling pace provides a real-time pace view adjusted for changing terrain.
- Stamina zones show how stamina affects an activity. A stamina curve tracks changes over time using fitness and training history.
- Rowing insights include VO2 max and a power curve.
- Rucking controls let users enter pack weight and set target metrics such as calories burned.
Recording modes and maps
Garmin describes Max Accuracy as a full-feature tracking option for shorter efforts and Max Battery as an option for extended recording. The up-to-320-hour solar activity estimate is associated with activity mode (extended battery), not an unrestricted promise that every tracking feature can run for that duration in all conditions.
Rank #2
- Designed for ultra-endurance athletes, with a lightweight design weighing just 63 g to help improve performance
- Take on the elements with a titanium bezel, scratch-resistant sapphire lens and built-in LED flashlight to light up the dark; UltraFit nylon band provides long-distance comfort - even in punishing conditions
- Up to 90 days of battery life in smartwatch mode (assumes all-day wear with 3 hours per day outside in 50,000 lux conditions) and 320 hours in GPS mode with solar charging (assumes continuous use for entire period in 50,000 lux conditions) - all with an always-on display, so you’re ready to take on the toughest challenges
- Preloaded TopoActive maps are optimized for outdoor activities to help keep your adventures on track
- Dynamic round-trip routing allows you to set a target destination for your run, bike or hike; Enduro 3 will continually adjust the route to get you back home on schedule
The watch has built-in routable maps and an updated map engine. Garmin says map panning is 30% faster and RAM is 50% greater than on the Enduro 3; its announcement does not provide independent performance measurements. A perspective view is intended to show more map detail at near and far distances.
