Which model has the best battery life?
Among these configurations, the Enduro 3 has the longest stated smartwatch-mode estimate: Garmin lists up to 36 days, or up to 90 days with solar. Those are manufacturer estimates, not guaranteed runtimes. Solar exposure, display behavior, GPS use and enabled features affect actual battery life.
Enduro 3
The Enduro 3’s headline figure is up to 36 days in smartwatch mode and up to 90 days with solar. Garmin’s solar figures assume all-day wear and three hours per day outdoors in 50,000 lux conditions. If your routine does not resemble those conditions, do not expect the maximum solar estimate.

fēnix 8 AMOLED and Solar
Garmin lists the 47 mm AMOLED fēnix 8 at up to 16 days in smartwatch mode, or 7 days with its display always on. The 47 mm Solar is listed at up to 21 days, or 28 days with solar under Garmin’s stated assumptions. These figures describe different configurations and display behaviors; they are not a direct promise of how long either watch will last in your use.
Before comparing battery estimates, decide which mode matters to you: ordinary smartwatch use, always-on display, GPS or multi-band GPS. Garmin’s fēnix 8 Series battery information explains that runtime depends on enabled features and sensors.

Enduro 3: MIP and solar
The Enduro 3 uses a sunlight-visible transflective MIP display and includes solar charging. It is the clearer fit if you prefer this display type and want the Enduro’s longer stated battery estimates. Its case is 51 mm, so make sure that size suits your wrist and comfort preferences.
fēnix 8 AMOLED: vivid screen, more size options
The fēnix 8 AMOLED offers a different screen experience and comes in multiple case sizes in the compared lineup. Garmin’s 43 mm, 47 mm and 51 mm comparisons let you check the configuration you want rather than treating “fēnix 8” as one specification: 43 mm AMOLED, 47 mm AMOLED and 51 mm AMOLED.

fēnix 8 Solar: MIP in the fēnix line
If you want MIP and solar but prefer the fēnix line or a size other than the Enduro 3’s 51 mm case, consider a fēnix 8 Solar configuration. Solar charging is not included on every fēnix 8: verify that the exact model is the Solar version. Garmin’s 47 mm Solar comparison sets out that configuration’s specifications.

Garmin lists the Enduro 3 at 63 g with its included band and 57 g for the case alone. It is a 51 mm watch. The fēnix 8 offers multiple sizes, which may make it a better match if you want a smaller case; do not assume that size changes only fit, because battery and display specifications also vary by configuration.

Garmin’s US comparison page lists the Enduro 3 at $899.99 and the compared 47 mm fēnix 8 AMOLED at $999.99 and up. These are manufacturer-listed US prices, not guaranteed transaction prices or prices for other regions; check current local pricing and availability. Garmin’s 47 mm AMOLED comparison provides that price context.
- Pick Enduro 3 for the longest stated smartwatch battery estimate, solar charging, MIP and a relatively light watch—provided its 51 mm case works for you.
- Pick fēnix 8 AMOLED if you prefer AMOLED, want a choice of case sizes, or value fēnix-specific functions available on the model you select.
- Pick fēnix 8 Solar if you want MIP and solar in the fēnix range, especially if you prefer a different case size.
For either watch, compare the exact size and display, then check the battery estimate for the mode you actually plan to use. A smartwatch-mode maximum does not tell you what to expect from continuous GPS or an always-on screen.
