For GTA 6, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are the only platforms Rockstar has confirmed in the official materials reviewed as of October 7, 2026. Rockstar lists a November 19, 2026 release date. A PC version and PC system requirements have not been announced in those sources, so a PC purchase cannot yet be treated as a confirmed way to play the game.
Will GTA 6 be on PC?
Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto VI Platforms, Editions, and Versions FAQ, last updated August 18, 2026, lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Its August 27, 2026 Newswire announcement likewise names those consoles and says the game is coming November 19, 2026. Neither reviewed official source announces a PC version or provides PC system requirements.

That means PC support is unconfirmed in the official information reviewed; it does not establish that a PC release will never happen. If playing GTA 6 at launch is your priority, do not choose PC hardware on the assumption that the game will be available for it. Check Rockstar’s current announcements before making a decision that depends on PC support.
Should I buy a PS5 or Xbox for GTA 6?
Both console families are confirmed platforms. Rockstar’s materials do not provide a performance comparison between PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, so there is no supported basis here to declare one the better-running version or to promise a particular resolution, frame rate, or graphics mode.

Choose based on your situation rather than an unverified GTA 6 benchmark:
- You already own a listed console: It is the direct supported-platform option, so buying another system solely for GTA 6 may not make sense.
- You are choosing a console from scratch: Compare the current price and configuration of the models you are considering, the games and services you already use, and whether you prefer playing at a desk or on a living-room TV. Rockstar’s cited materials do not compare console prices.
- You are deciding between PS5 and Xbox: Both are listed; use your existing game library, preferred controller, and household setup to decide. The official sources do not establish a GTA 6 performance winner.
- You are willing to wait: Wait for an official PC announcement if PC is essential to your decision. Until one appears, a gaming PC is not a confirmed GTA 6 purchase.
What Rockstar’s PS5 footage does—and does not—tell you
Rockstar says the extended look was captured entirely from in-game footage on PS5. That identifies the platform used for the footage, but it is not a comparative test of PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, nor does it establish the performance or visual settings players will receive in the released game.

Does the physical GTA 6 version include a disc?
No. Rockstar says the physical version is a download code in a box and does not include a disc. Its pre-order details, last updated June 26, 2026, also describe the physical copy as a code redeemable for a digital download. If you specifically want a disc, read the package description before buying rather than assuming that “physical” means disc-based.
