The report also says the used console was out of stock online when checked, so the listing is not proof that a buyer could place an order at that price.
What GameStop’s reported prices were
PC Guide reported these US prices on October 6, 2026. They are dated listing prices, not confirmed sale prices, and availability can change.

|---|---|---|
| Pre-owned PS5 Pro, digital model | $1,399.99 | PC Guide reported this GameStop listing; it said the model was not in stock online when checked. PC Guide, October 6, 2026 |
| Pre-owned digital model, Pro Member price | $1,329.99 | PC Guide reported this member price; it does not establish stock or a completed sale. PC Guide, October 6, 2026 |
| Pre-owned PS5 Pro with disc drive attachment | $1,499.99 | PC Guide reported this price for the disc-equipped tier. PC Guide, October 6, 2026 |
| New PS5 Pro | $899.99 | PC Guide cited this new-console price on October 6, 2026; check a live seller listing for the current price and availability. PC Guide, October 6, 2026 |
On those reported figures, the regular pre-owned digital listing was $500 above the cited new price, and the disc-equipped used tier was $600 above it. The comparison is meaningful only if the configurations, condition, membership eligibility, stock, and seller terms match. GameStop’s official PS5 Pro product page confirms a product listing exists, but does not verify the reported pre-owned prices.
Is the $1,399 PS5 Pro in stock?
PC Guide said it could not find the refurbished model in stock online when it checked on October 6, 2026. That means the report documents a displayed asking price, not an orderable offer or a completed transaction. Before buying, check the live GameStop listing for the exact condition, configuration, member price eligibility, and whether checkout is available. Do not treat a search result or an old listing as proof that the console is currently available.

What “intentional” means—and what it does not
PC Guide reported that a GameStop employee memo described the higher used price as intentional. The evidence available here is the outlet’s reproduction and attribution of the memo, not a directly authenticated public statement from GameStop. “Intentional” indicates the price was described in the memo as deliberate; it does not explain GameStop’s rationale, prove the price reflects market value, or establish that the product sold. No independently sourced explanation for this specific pricing decision is established.

Sony describes the PS5 Pro as a higher-performance PS5 with PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), advanced ray tracing, and higher frame rates in compatible games. The console has a 2TB built-in SSD, supports Wi-Fi 7 when used with a compatible router, and plays PS5 games and more than 8,500 PS4 games. Sony notes that Pro enhancements vary by game and that a small number of PS4 games are incompatible. See Sony’s PS5 Pro product information for the manufacturer’s details.
Those features do not make every game look or run better in the same way. For example, Sony’s product page quotes Naughty Dog Lead Programmer Vincent Marxen describing a PS5 Pro-specific rendering mode for The Last of Us Part II Remastered: it renders at 1440p and upscales to 4K using PSSR while targeting 60 frames per second. That is a developer statement displayed by Sony, not independent testing or a guarantee about other titles. The same page’s broad claims about sharper 4K images and high frame rates are Sony promotional language.

How to assess the listing before paying
- Confirm the live offer: check that the listing is in stock and reaches an orderable checkout, rather than relying on the reported October 6 price.
- Match the configuration: distinguish the digital console from the disc-equipped tier and confirm whether a disc drive attachment is included.
- Check the condition and terms: review the listing’s pre-owned condition description, return policy, and any warranty or other protections shown by the seller.
- Compare like with like: compare a used console against a new console at current prices, and apply the Pro Member price only if you qualify for it.
- Decide whether the features matter to you: Sony’s enhancements depend on game support, so a high price alone does not establish a worthwhile upgrade.
