GameStop’s reported price for a used PS5 Pro changed sharply between two snapshots: Insider Gaming reported $1,399.99 for pre-owned and refurbished units on October 6, 2026, while a GameStop listing retrieved October 7 showed those conditions at $850.24. Sony’s U.S. recommended retail price for a new PS5 Pro is $899.99. The conflicting figures mean $1,399.99 should not be treated as GameStop’s current price without checking the live listing.
What GameStop’s PS5 Pro prices show
The October 6 report and October 7 listing are snapshots, not a settled price history. They establish that two very different used-console prices were reported or displayed on consecutive days; they do not explain why they differ. Prices and inventory can change, and the listing result may vary by location.

In its October 6 article, Mike Straw of Insider Gaming said a new PS5 Pro was unavailable on GameStop’s website at that time and reported that GameStop had not explained the high prices. That is what the article reported, not a confirmed explanation from GameStop. The October 7 listing result showing new at $899.99 is a separate, later snapshot.

How the reported price compares with Sony’s price
Sony Interactive Entertainment announced on March 27, 2026 that the PS5 Pro’s U.S. recommended retail price would be $899.99 starting April 2. Against that benchmark, the $1,399.99 figure in Insider Gaming’s October 6 report is $500 higher; the reported $1,329.99 Pro-member price is $430 higher. Those comparisons apply to the reported figures, not necessarily to the live GameStop listing.

The October 7 result presents a different picture: it showed pre-owned and refurbished units at $850.24, below Sony’s recommended retail price for a new console, and new at $899.99. The discrepancy cannot be resolved from these snapshots alone. Check the product page for the price and condition available to you before deciding.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Pre-owned and refurbished are separate condition labels
GameStop’s listing distinguishes “pre-owned” from “refurbished.” Those labels should not be treated as interchangeable: a listing’s condition describes what the seller is offering, and the retrieved prices do not establish the history, repair work, accessories, or inspection standard for any particular unit. Read the item-specific condition notes and return terms rather than inferring them from the label alone.
Check warranty coverage before buying
Sony’s U.S. buying guide says third-party used PlayStation products are not covered by Sony’s warranty, while certified refurbished PlayStation products include a warranty. This guidance does not establish the warranty terms for a specific GameStop item. Check the product listing and seller terms for that console, including who provides any coverage and its duration.

Quick Recap
What to verify on GameStop’s listing
- Open the GameStop PS5 Pro product page and check the price currently shown; do not rely on an earlier report or search-result snapshot.
- Confirm whether the selected condition is new, pre-owned, or refurbished. Check whether the price changes when you choose a condition or enter a location.
- Review membership eligibility, shipping or pickup availability, and the item’s return and warranty terms before checkout.
- Compare the total for the exact unit with Sony’s $899.99 U.S. recommended retail price for a new PS5 Pro, while remembering that recommended retail price does not guarantee availability or a retailer’s final price.
