Yes—but “horror-comedy” can mean very different things in games: playful scares and jokes, eerie worlds with a darkly whimsical style, or serious horror that becomes funny when friends react to it together. These three recommendations cover those distinct moods rather than treating every scary game as a comedy.
Choose the kind of horror-comedy you want
- Playful scares: Ghosts and spooky settings presented as a light adventure.
- Dark whimsy: An unsettling atmosphere softened by an unusual, sometimes charming style.
- Shared tension: A serious horror story that friends can experience together, with humor arising from their reactions rather than scripted comedy.
That distinction matters: laughing during a frightening game does not necessarily make the game itself a comedy.

Games to try, by tone
Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon — playful ghost adventure
For a lighter entry point, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon pairs a ghost-filled setting with a playful adventure. Nintendo’s developer interview about the game offers background on its creative approach. It is a good fit if you want spooky surroundings without looking for sustained, intense horror; the interview does not formally classify it as horror-comedy.

Little Nightmares III — darkly whimsical horror
Little Nightmares III is a stronger choice if you want something eerie and stylized rather than joke-driven. In a producer interview, Bandai Namco describes the franchise’s distinctive style as “charming horror.” That phrase points to a tonal blend, not a promise of frequent jokes or comedy-first gameplay.

The Dark Pictures: Little Hope — serious horror for shared play
The Dark Pictures: Little Hope is the pick for a more serious cinematic-horror experience. Its publisher page describes both single-player and multiplayer modes. Playing with others can make tense scenes funny through conversation and reactions, but that humor is something a group may create; it is not a guaranteed feature of the game.
How to pick between them
| If you want… | Try… | Why it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Ghosts and spooky fun with a lighter feel | Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon | A playful ghost-themed adventure. |
| An eerie, stylized world with dark charm | Little Nightmares III | The franchise’s style has been described by its producer as “charming horror.” |
| More sustained, serious horror to experience with friends | The Dark Pictures: Little Hope | Its publisher describes single-player and multiplayer modes; shared humor can come from the group. |
These are starting points, not a complete catalog. Choose based on whether you want scripted playfulness, eerie charm, or tension that friends can react to together.
